    I love the fact that you can walk all the way from Tower Bridge to The Natural History Museum in Kensington and take in every single major tourist site on the way in one day!

    The parrots and squirrels in the parks are very tame, if you hold out your hand (invisible bread) they'll land on it

    Thanks for sharing. Often wondered about public rest rooms in London for visitors and how they can be located.
    You are very lightly dressed. 4 months ago was in the very cold season. How so?

      Thanks for taking the time to watch our video! We also popped into pubs to use the restroom when out and about.
      We visited in end of August/early September, and it was still quite warm! We did get a few cooler and rainy days though.

    Crazy guys! My girlfriend and I were there 3 weeks ago and we did that exact route but backwards!! Our hotel was on the south bank so we started with the eye and ended in Kensington gardens then we took the bus to trafalgar sq then ate in China town!!

    We also walked so much when we were there! Haha. An average of 20,000 steps/day. Can't believe Huy was wearing flip-flops while doing all that walking. haha. Did your guys' feet hurt at the end of the day?

    • @HNHMarriedLife
      @HNHMarriedLife  2 года назад +3

      It’s just so easy to keep walking all around! Our feet didn’t really hurt, but our legs were sore. I think Huy is just used to it because he’s always wearing sandals and Rainbow Sandals are the best!

    I bet a lot of people are surprised that we have wild parakeets in London, especially in the South East and North west Kent, their squawks are really annoying and loud

      It was so great to see them while we walked around the park. Definitely stopped a lot of people in their tracks. Are they typically around year round?

      Reading is full of parakeets, when I moved there from Leeds and I saw one I went crazy excited but my work mates were looking at me like what’s the big deal they grew up with them everywhere

    Couple of things folks:
    1. You can tell when the Monarch is "In residence" at a particular place because the flag flying over it is The Royal Standard, not The Union Flag (Union Jack), which was not the case when you were there.
    2. Big Ben is the name of the huge Hour Bell, not the tower. The tower itself was renamed The Elizabeth Tower in honour of our late Queen's Diamond Jubilee (60 years reign) in 2012. Previously it was known as simply The Clock Tower.
    The larger tower towards the middle of the building is called The Victoria Tower. It was originally called The King's Tower but was renamed in 1897 on the occasion of Queen Victoria' Diamond Jubilee.
    So, a nice bit of symmetry there eh? 😉

      We had no idea that about the flag flying over Buckingham Palace! Thanks for sharing.

    • @andypandy9013
      @andypandy9013 Год назад

      @@HNHMarriedLife A pleasure. 😃.
      Most of us Brits didn't know that either until The Queen returned from Balmoral to Buckingham Palace following the death of Princess Diana in 1997. Once she was there, the Union Flag was lowered and the Royal Standard raised.

    • @peterwilkins7013
      @peterwilkins7013 Год назад

      The Royal Standard is never flown at half mast as it represents the Monarchy which never dies rather than an individual monarch. Charles became King the moment the Queen died so there is never a gap. Slightly confusingly though the design can change from monarch to monarch.

    • @peterwilkins7013
      @peterwilkins7013 Год назад

      @@andypandy9013 actually that's not quite correct. The Union Jack never used to be flown at BP, if the Monarch was away it was simply empty. When Diana died the Queen was at Balmoral so the flag pole at BP was empty. There was widespread public anger though that there was no flag being flown at half mast. To get a compromise the Queen ordered that the Union Jack be flown at half mast for Diana's funeral (since the Standard can never be flown at half mast) and the Union Jack has remained there ever since, being raised whenever the Queen is away or flown at half mast on the death of a Royal or other major events.

    Nicely filmed. I was enjoying the pleasant background music then the big heavy bass stuff kicked in and spoiled it. No need, it's so intrusive.

      It hasn't always been that way. It was only after the death of Diana that they decided to have the Union flag flying permanently because they had to hastily find one to fly at half mast when her death was announced.
