I would think 99% of Brits call Elizabeth Tower "Big Ben" as I always did - I later found out that "Big Ben" is the name of the enormous bell which strikes on the hour that famous note....it is surrounded by other bells

We were there at the west Yavapai 2 couple days ago with lots of snow outside, the lodge room was clean but has no wifi. The park was so beautiful but could not see the canyon due to the fog and cloud.

The River running under the bridge has the 2nd largest tidal Rise and Fall in the World. A couple of hours later and that river would have been Full. 😊

Couple of things folks: 1. You can tell when the Monarch is "In residence" at a particular place because the flag flying over it is The Royal Standard, not The Union Flag (Union Jack), which was not the case when you were there. 2. Big Ben is the name of the huge Hour Bell, not the tower. The tower itself was renamed The Elizabeth Tower in honour of our late Queen's Diamond Jubilee (60 years reign) in 2012. Previously it was known as simply The Clock Tower. The larger tower towards the middle of the building is called The Victoria Tower. It was originally called The King's Tower but was renamed in 1897 on the occasion of Queen Victoria' Diamond Jubilee. So, a nice bit of symmetry there eh? 😉

Hi Guys, glad you enjoyed your time here. A few points: 1. Trains in the UK leave from platform numbers, not track numbers. 2. Whilst we drive on the left you are not obliged to walk on the left; either side will do. 3. What you thought were the walls of the old city is, in fact, a church that was bombed out by the Nazi Luftwaffe (Air Force) in World War II. Being a major port, Bristol was a prime target during the war. Keep posting! 😃👍
