- When are You too Old for Long Hair Worn Down - Hair Transformation by MAKEOVERGUY
Are you too old for long hair? Mary didn't like her long hair. In fact, she wanted it short.
She came to Makeoverguy for her Power of Pretty Transformation Experience and got the makeover of a lifetime.
It wasn't just the long hair that dragged her down. She has a pear-shaped body with narrow shoulders. Leggings do not work with this body type, no matter what anyone would wear on the top.
She has deep-set eyes that are asymmetrical. She has a proportionately small mouth and a stronger nose that she would consider ideal. With the help of the "MAKEOVERGUY" team, all was set in balance.

There's no 'cut off' age for long hair. If you look in the mirror and don't like how your long hair looks, then it's up to you and no-one else if you want to change it.
Thank you, Mary
Well said
Das ist nicht wahr.
Absobloodylutely!
@@sonnenschein3613 ...How is that not true? It's my decision, and nobody else's, what I do with my hair. No woman is required to cut their hair short just because they get older. If a woman wants to keep her hair long, she has every right to do so. And if she has long hair and wants to cut it short, that is her right, too, and it's nobody else's business if she does. Other people don't have to wear, brush, or maintain the longer hair they say they love so much on us women that want to cut our longer hair short, for whatever reason we choose to do so. So in my opinion, you're incorrect in your comment. It IS true, that any woman can do whatever she wants with HER own hair, at ANY age, regardless of what anyone else says or thinks. If they don't like it, then tough cookies.
No one is ever 'too old' to wear long hair down, and she would have looked as amazing in the after shot with the same clothes, makeup, and straightened trimmed hair with lift at the roots. Enough of this 'women are too old to do this now' rubbish, it weaves ageism into the mindsets of many and strengthens it. This isn't to detract from the work you have done here by the way, it is ace. I just feel it is time to flip the script regarding aging and people's perception of it. Are you in your 40's, 50's 60's and beyond and want to wear your long hair down? Go for it, and you will look mighty fine too.
LOVE THIS COMMENT!!!!! You're badass.
Her hair was so beautiful. There was no need to cut it off. I hate the stigma of cutting your hair short because your 50 mine long and always will be. She could of got her hair done in a curtain long bang style that you can put up without just giving up on her long hair. Even though she was happy and pulled the look off beautifly. I could not cut my hair off.
I'm 72 and my hair is white blonde grey not silver, it is almost to my waist...I get lots of compliments on it , people say I don't look my age.
I have had all lengths of hair and I find that long hair is easier to handle......you can always find a style in a hurry😅
Mary, you were never ugly. You were beautiful with long hair and no makeup and you are still beautiful with your new hairdo. So glad you love it!
As an Indigenous American woman, I will have long hair til the day I die. This woman didn't know how to take care of long hair. It's easier and cheaper than having short, styled hair. I never use a brush after a shower, only wide tooth detangling comb.
As a curly haired woman, I was shocked when she said she struggled for half an hour every day to detangle her hair. That woman needs a serious hair care education. I would like to know if she’s still smiling when she tries to reproduce the short bob styling at home every day with curlers and barrel irons.
Do not cut your hair just because "the world" says you have to look a certain way. Do it only because it is what YOU want. The world has no right to say whether you are beautiful or not. Only you have that right.
Thank you! It is definitely what I wanted and needed.
She looked thrilled with the results and that's all that matters. Screw the critics. I got a much needed makeover once (hair and makeup only) and it did wonders for me when I needed it the most at that time in my life.
@samsmom1491 thank you
True, you change only when you are ready. But, try not to be stuck in your ways. One of the hallmarks of youthfulness is being flexible and trying new things. Otherwise, how do you learn about yourself. The lady in this video looked just fine with her long hair, but she clearly wasn’t happy with her looks - and didn’t really know why. Her new look is AMAZING. If you don’t open yourself up for change, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten! 😂 I love me a good makeover…
No, she cut her hair because she felt ugly, cmon already people getting offended so quickly. Old people with long loose hair look scruffy, as she did at the beginning, that's the norm, period.
NO ONE is every "too old" to wear their hair long. I look best with mid-length - long hair. I'm not gonna let society tell me that I have to chop it off just because I'm over 50. That's DUMB.
Same. 😊
Thank you. I just needed it short.
Well said Cara 💞beauty is subjective and there are beautiful women of all ages with short and long hair.
@@mjob1955 And it looks great!! ☺️
@DP-ih6nt thank you, Mary
That long hair was weighing her and her personality down. As usual...she looks like a million bucks!! Yes, it would be great to see her husband's reaction. Amazing and so rewarding to know you made a real difference in a person's life with a makeover. Love it!
She was beautiful before & after but her confidence & happiness make all the difference! The new do’ is really cute on her. But she is a beautiful woman with beautiful features so I think any hairstyle would look good on her! She seemed like a lovely lady inside & out! I hope her husband appreciates her!🙏🏼💖
This is THE FIRST TIME I cried for one of your clients. I was so heartbroken to think her husband wouldn't notice her. He needs a serious wake up call because she is absolutely stunning!!!! ❤
If she had her makeup done like that when she had her long hair she would have been even more beautiful and looked even younger. Notice how the makeup fixed her jaw line area to appear more youthful. Long hair is a gift. Cut it shorter if you want, but don’t play like that. Your trying to add to much emphasis on the hair when in reality it was the makeup that mattered most in this video as both sets of hair can be pretty. She’s pretty without makeup but for a younger look it was the makeup-definitely not the hairstyle. You’re never to old to have long hair- it’s a GIFT FROM THE MOST HIGH. Especially if you’re fortunate enough to have longer length hair as an older woman embrace it if you want. It don’t have to go that short to be beautiful.
Agree. Also look at the back of the haircut, it's a mess.
Thank you , it may have but it wasn't what I really needed, having to take care of it was impossible. Mary
These comments are so rude and depressing. She looks fabulous. He knows exactly what he is doing when styling someone. So glad you didn't color her hair either, that transition to natural white is so STUNNING. I was really impressed by everything. She is beautiful to begin with so that helps! lol. You were able to give such a modern and clean line to her body. She looked more balanced and a little taller. She had a new confidence that was very attractive and I couldn't stop laughing at her saying she thought she would not like it. Your mom and those shoulder pad suggestions never failed a lady on there. :-) I'm 37 but already going gray rapidly. Would love to come see you some day! Keep up the great work.
She just listed about half a dozen reasons why she wanted to cut her hair and I think she made the right choice. She looks great.
I actually thought she was already quite beautiful, and just as beautiful after the makeover. The biggest difference, honestly, was how she felt about it. Beauty is only skin deep, and she was already gorgeous on the surface. However, seeing her absolutely glowing with confidence was what took her to the next level. It just proves, the way you feel about yourself really does show. I'm so glad she can feel as beautiful as she really is.
Thank you!
At the beginning when she says that her husband doesn’t even notice her 😮 something about that just made my heart drop to the floor 😢 no woman should ever go unnoticed
She looks absolutely amazing. Beautiful.
OMG! One of the most amazing make-overs I have ever seen in my entire life! She looks stunning, and without plastic surgery. Just a fabulous cut, makeup and wardrobe change. Absolutely blew my socks off! Great job.
This is one of the best makeovers I’ve ever seen! She doesn’t even look like the same person! She looks FANTASTIC!
She did have beautiful long hair but she was drowning in it. Now her beautiful face features stand out and balance out well with her new hairstyle.
Her hair was not pretty. It was thick and full but not a pretty color
You are Totally Special and BEAUTIFUL ❤and don't ever let anyone ever tell you different. You have a pretty face. BEAUTIFUL transformation indeed. Love this!Love GEORGIANNA❤ PS 7:30 am/ 8-30-2023
@@georgiannadurant7646 The comment was only about her old hair style. It wasn’t pretty otherwise she wouldn’t have changed it.
What an awesome decision. You went with your heart and it didn't lead you astray. You are absolutely stunning. Keep smiling!!
❤🌹
Oh my, I love the cut. It brings out the features in your face. I can’t believe anybody would have anything negative to say in the comments …you look stunning.❤
she looks stunning
I agree!!
OK, this may be the biggest transformation I've seen here. You took 20 years off her and the energy that was beaming out of her afterward! The haircut is amazing on her (not what I was expecting, but what SHE wanted). The clothes fit her lifestyle and vibe, and her eyes suddenly popped! Amazing. Also, I'm happy to see this format again. Love these videos.
It’s not a matter of “too old for…”
Just wear your hair in a way that makes YOU happy - it’s yours !
Thank you!
Thank you
My long hair makes me feel good. My boyfriend that's 15 years younger has never said cut your beautiful silver long hair.
What a transformation, she looks awesome!
Love the hair!
The cut really brings out her eyes too. She really does look 20 years younger!! Beautiful!!
No she doesn’t look 48!! Please 🙄
Wow you look FANTASTIC! I am 58 and still wearing the same long, dry, dyed blonde hair as I in the 70’s! But I have been wanting to make a dramatic change lately. But I have been afraid that I would hate it! I now want to RUN to a good salon in the morning and make that change! Thank You for showing me your beauty and bravery ❤
She is absolutely striking!! Great job team!!
Thank you
Yep, agreed entirely! And when you catch the eye of someone walking by, give them a wink…and if he wants to go there…GO THERE HONEY!! ❤❤❤
Looks much better? YES! Absolutely! However, "Striking"?... That's a stretch!
@@gailjones7044 What do you get out of being hateful to a woman who has already been broken down?
Wow! She looks so beautiful, the style takes 20 years off her.
Absolutely gorgeous! So much confidence too! She looks 20 yrs younger! Her husband better be on alert!💝🙏🥰
Thank you for your comment, Mary
My goodness. She had me in tears. I could see she was just miserable hiding under her hair, though it was beautiful. Now she looks so much younger and vibrant. Her hair was just what she needed. I loved seeing her smile at her self. Gorgeous! Wonderful job team!
Stunning! Wow. Totally wonderful.
That hair!!!!!! Begone!!.... 1:15 pm
I suspect she felt like Thing (AdamsFamily) and people only saw her hair not her. It's the same with women who have a good bosom - people look only at the chest. It must be really dispiriting. Nevertheless, the majority of women of a certain age seem to be ignored as a matter of common practice. I think it's why they get a bit bolshy - the stage after "woman of a certain age" = "Careful, be cautious around Her".
She has the most beautiful face. It's great that you can see it now. A lot of hairstyles would look good on her.
OMG... you took 30 years off of this lovely lady's life! She looks absolutely STUNNING! I was totally blown away by this makeover. I know she has to feel like a new woman, inside and out. What a remarkable transformation. If her husband doesn't go bonkers over her, then he is blind and quite frankly, stupid. She is a stunner!
Thank you. I do. Mary
Mary..you have received a gift only this guy and his team can give to a privileged few...you are drop dead gorgeous...enjoy the new you!!
Beautiful! Mary, this changed you not only on the outside, but on your inside too. It's about time you loved you!
Dont think its the hair length that determines what age you look, its the make up, clothes and the way you carry yourself .thats what made the difference with this pretty lady.
Thank you, Mary
You didn't look your age before the makeover...but after you look gorgeous!
Her face appears much different too from the makeup added.
Sass!!!
Omg she looks gorgeous & does not look her age!!! Can’t believe it!!!
@@Sav12346 put enough makeup on and of course not
Sorry to be rude, and I don't wish to be mean, but I think she looked OLDER than her age before the makeover. Now she looks 10 years younger than her age, what a result!
I love the new cut. You look so much younger.
She looks like a million dollars. These makeovers are truly amazing. 🥰😍🤩😘
It's amazing how the new hair style brings out her gorgeous face and brought out her beautiful personality 🤩! She was hiding inside her hair 😮! Wow!!!
Thank you, Mary
I was so glad that they didn't color her hair blond or brunette. I let my hair go gray gracefully 5 years ago and I get so many compliments on it. She looks amazing.
I agree w/you. I will be 70 next March and I only have a streak of gray right in the front...which I’m grateful for.
But I wish I had more! I think gray hair is so beautiful!
This lady’s hair turned out very nice.
Totally agree...stopped coloring my hair three years ago...so liberating! Also cut it short and I get so many compliments about my hair...never got that when it was longer and brunette.
Looks to me like she was given highlights and a lilac colour wash. It does brighten the white and makes the gray more steely - and "bonus" less aging.
I'm 64 now with long hair that is streaking itself with white. I love long hair and regret cutting mine a number of years ago. I refuse to color my hair or perm it and it's still thick, soft and shiny! I look forward to when my hair is completely white and long! It will be stunning!
Thanks for sharing!!
You look gorgeous.
Not invisible anymore
You shine now.wow.
She is gorgeous. He really found the perfect haircut for her. It shows off her features so much better.
Absolutely incredible how she looked 20 years younger! Amazing work! ❤😊
Thank you
Thank you so much!
Who seems to decide that women MUST cut their hair when they age? I plan on keeping mine long and wearing a big bun of grey hair. For Mary I'm glad she is happy, she looks lovely.
Long hair has no age limit!
She looks FABULOUS!!! You are such a talented man!! And you see through these ladies! BRAVO!!
So beautiful! Another extraordinary transformation by a team that has it totally together.

Wow! Mary looks amazing! That haircut is fire combined with her beautiful silver color. I hope my hair looks that beautiful when I'm 68 years old.
Wow, what a transformation. That makeover is superb.
You're NEVER too old for long hair, for short hair, for green hair, for no hair...we can all do whatever we want to make ourselves happy! Glad she found a hairstyle she loves! ☺
You said what i tried too.

I almost fell out of my chair! She is absolutely gorgeous! Such a beautiful woman. It broke my heart when she said she felt ugly and that her husband doesn't notice her.
Thank you so much Mary
Some people can't do short hair. You are never too old for long hair.
She looks fantastic. You can see her face now. She looks stunning. I think it’s a cut and style she can easily maintain.
Absolutely, thank you, Mary
I am 72 and and my hair is to the bend of my leg. I would never consider cutting my hair. Can't imagine how or why. Thru the years I've learned how to keep my hair up and neat. And who in this world says a person is too old for long hair? Who?Not God. That is all that matters to me. It's my glory.
I agree - no one is ever too old for long hair! My mum is 74 and has long white hair, which is so beautiful! But what's important is, that you feel happy about yourself and your hair. The lady in the video needed the transformation to feel beautiful, so for her that was the right dicision.
I have hair to my waist. I'm 34 (but I enjoy this channel) and people have already started telling me that I'm getting "too old" to have long hair, and when I'm 40, it's time to cut it. There is no such thing as too old. It doesn't matter if a person is 100. I hate that age restrictions are put on personal style and preference for women. A woman's unique sense of style is what contributes to her beauty.
I'm 60, my hair is also long, and I could care less what ppl think! I think it's harder to maintain a hairstyle. I do use color on my hair because I like to.
My hair is to my waist and has been since childhood. Long is easy, plus I don't like the idea of layers. The downside may be using lots of shampoo.
I have thigh length hair and only use a small dime size drop of gentle shampoo, I massage it into the roots and let it run down the length as I rinse. I do the opposite with conditioner, start at the ends. Do you use other products that you need to wash out?
An older woman will never be too old for long hair. I'm 76 and love mine, it is so versatile, I can wear it up or down.
Until it thins out so much you see scalp everywhere and it doesn't grow long.
Me too at 80. Started during lockdowns and only had trims. Wish i had more skills but i swim most days of week and braid or high bun works great.
Love her new make over she does look 20 years younger, fabulous ❤
I hope she sees these comments... You look far younger, as well as beautiful and sophisticated. Congratulations on being brave!!!
You are never “too old” to wear your hair as long as you want or however you want. See I have this thing where IDGAF how others think I should dress or wear my hair…. I do what I do and that’s that.
She didn’t want it long anymore. Nobody was telling her what to do😊
@@amystaff9880 I’m referring to the title of the video
She is a beautiful woman and now you can see HER , not just the long hair. Love her hair style!

You look beautiful in your long hair.... but do whatever makes you feel good about yourself!!
She looks absolutely beautiful 🩷
I'll never part with my long hair because I love it and it makes me happy. Her's didn't make her happy anymore so it had to go. Age or what other people think have nothing to do with it.
Thank you!
Gorgeous. Not sure why so many men and even so many women are afraid of short hair. This woman is transformed by a good haircut. You can now see her beautiful face.
You look beautiful. Good decision to have your hair professionally done. Great makeover.❤
Hearing her say "my husband doesn't even notice me" was so sad and irritating - I bet he sits in his chair all day, has 2 beers every night at the same exacct time every night. It's time he woke up and paid his lovely woman lots of attention.
She became invisible behind the curtains of hair, which was hanging down and bringing nothing to the table. The new hair style is fantastic and the makeup was perfect, very natural and soft ❤❤❤
Oh wow!! Just the look on her face said it all!! She felt beautiful and young!! Great job!! She looks beautiful!! You can tell she is happy!!
Holy shit, I mean holy shit. Woman you are gorgeous. Good for you.

Thank you, Mary
She looks sooooo good with her new hair! It’s perfect!!!!
WOW! WOW! WOWEE! She sparkles now! ❤️
I love that her hair is still grey and she is a knock out.
You are never too old for long hair. You can have long hair if you want it. if you want short hair, you can cut it. no big deal. to each their own. It looks cute on her short.
If you want long hair and can deal with it at 80, it's totally your deal and nobody else's. I could never figure out why it's anyone's business to tell others what they should be doing with their life or appearance.
They make money by telling us what to wear, hair, makeup etc. Most of us here are of a certain age. We grew up being free to be us. Don’t let them ruin it.
Now THAT is a makeover. What an amazing difference. One of the most flattering cuts I've seen.
Thank you so much for your opinion, Mary
She looks amazing and you can tell how good she feels about herself!
There's a difference between long hair and unstyled hair - and styling long, grey hair can be a chore
Styling long hair at any age is a chore. I used to have long hair down to my waist, and it was like having a second job! A lot of women I know spend two hours on their hair every day.
your never to old for long hair
Thank you for your comment. Mary
Its fabulous and this cut frames your face beautifully its gorgeous and so are you.
i wish more makeup brands would use older models. she is so elegant
Christopher, you literally took the burden of her having to deal with her hair on a daily basis. She looks and feels so free!
Fresh and light ❤️
All these people with an opinion about a woman’s hair - give it a rest. She looks fantastic in that cut with her natural color! Thick hair is a pain to deal with when it’s long. Her clothing too - those new styles are so flattering. Nice to see her happy at the end.
Well, the controversy does put it up higher in the ranks. SO BRING IT ON!!
Opinions are fine, but good grief some of these people commenting are just downright MEAN!! I think the lady looks beautiful with her new style! ☺️
This lady was blessed with such a thick head of hair and Makeover Guy worked his magic on it. Really made her facial features pop, especially those beautiful eyes.
My beautiful hair is all I have left that looks lovely. I fixed my health and got my body in the same shape as my hair. I love my hair and now I love my new old body again as well.
Agree. My long hair is my last vestige of feminine beauty. To crop it short will leave me looking like a refugee from a concentration camp. I love the way my hair feels on my skin. My looks are past the point where they can impress anyone. Dressing for approval is futile so I dress to please myself.
She actually looks younger, not older, and vibrant 👏❤
I would love to see someone show us how to style our long hair to look good, instead of always cutting it. Why do older women always have to cut their hair? But nevertheless she looks beautiful now!
I'm 54 and have absolutely no intention of having less than shoulder length hair ever. Even my sons have long hair. One of my grandson's is frequently mistaken for a girl.
