Best tutorial. I usually don't freeze before stacking because I am afraid when it thaws it will take more to its natural shape and maybe droop??? And im worried I won't be able to fix any shape mishaps with frosting. Does that happen?
@@NadiaJ-rl8ik I always freeze my cakes, it doesn't affect flavor or texture. Just make sure to wrap them individually very well, don't stack them, and freeze them flat. You'll be really surprised how easy your life and cake decorating will be when you do this :) With naked cakes you have to be a little more consistent with size because we're not covering the entire cake, so just make sure your pans are all the same size and you put equal amounts of batter in each pan. And if not, just frost the whole thing! Buttercream covers up ALL mistakes 😉 Let me know how it goes! Happy baking 💕
Isn't it pretty? Its actually a lot easier than doing full frosting coverage so when I started decorating cakes, I started with this technique first. Let me know if you try it 💖
Where did you purchase your purple offset spatula? Or do you have the link by any chance 😅 if not what is the size of it because I’ve been wanting a small one to try and frost a bento cake.
So it's just an old Wilton one - here is the new one with a black handle: amzn.to/3fP95bU It's actually great for little cakes - it's funny I was thinking how I needed a *bigger* one for my big cakes bc this one is nice and small :)
Such a calming voice!! Such an underrated video !!
❤️❤️❤️
You have the most calming voice🤩
Thank you 😌
Wonderful video, calming voice, and very informative! Can’t wait to try my first naked cake
Just a share- you've totally inspired(and given confidence to)my birthday girl to make and frost her own semi-nude BC for her sweet 16. GREAT JOB!!!
Happy Sweet 16 🥰🥰 I bet the cake will be AMAZING!
This was really helpful, thank you :) Do you have a recipe for the chocolate cake?

COCONUT PECAN FILLING?! yes I'm here for this
It's almost like your coconut macaroons! Except it's cooked in butter and eggs a little to give it a caramel-ey texture

Sure, so it's a Smitten Kitchen recipe, and here it is: smittenkitchen.com/2017/08/german-chocolate-cake-a-wedding-cake/
It's really really good!

How long do you freeze for? Does it have to be solid?
No, just long enough so that the cake is easier to handle. 😊 It will just make your job easier and it won't affect the taste or texture once thawed.
