It's been a while since we did a proper bait test on the channel and I have been wanting to try out sonubaits new marine green range since I saw it advertise a few months back. So I picked myself some pellets and wafters up and headed out for a short method feeder session to give them a right good test out! Let's see how many fish we can get on the bank!
I give a brief overview of my setup and how to mix the pellets to perfection as well...

Ive only been fishing for like a few weeks and landed a 10lb mirror carp at German lane fishery and like I said last vid you make me wanna fish more so your kind of like my inspiration

Picked up the rod for the first time in nearly 15 years this week - Never feeder fished in my life and followed every bit of advice from your videos and had the best session ever. Multiple species landed on the pellet banjo including a few chunks. Can't thank you enough pal. I couldn't get on your favourite peg near the aerator though... 😉

Living the ‘Bream’ 😂 I enjoy catching them to, I do prefer catching carp when I’m method feeding.
Green is an interesting colour for hookbaits. I’ve never used a green hookbait, but it looks to work ok. I was interested in the green marine range when it launched. I do use swim stim betaine green flecked in my 2mm mix 99% of the time.

Just back from a new water to me. Small lake, got 7 carp up to 8lb, tried a few different baits and rigs. Biggest carp around 20lb so nothing to write home about but will definitely be back for when big carp lakes are hard fishing and I need to remind myself what a carp looks like 🙂

@@WestysAngling I had all commons, not many mirrors around these parts. When things went a bit quiet I got the spinning rod out and had 3 decent largemouth bass 🙂
Hiya, good bag of fish, I already buy your baits & they really do the job, so I was wondering do I need to buy Sonubaits. I think what I will do is my own competition. I am going to buy Red robin & the new marine green & try on my lake, red on one rod & green on the another rod & see what happens. Very good video, keep them coming.

great video again as always westys, i nearly bought the marine green range but change my mind . i have watch a few videos of other anglers using them, and it seems they bring in more bream then carp. They seem more for a match angler to win matches in my opinion.
Excellent video as always. I always use the band um wafters and found em good on all waters. Never tried the sticky pellets.prefer to use normal 2mm and flavour em myself but will give em a try. Xx

Well they certainly seem to work, i have had great success with the original westys wafters and my wife has nicked half of mine and is using them too, dammit she jas caught more than me this season so far

Always use sonubaits, maybe a confidence thing but always find them consistent no matter what you get. Good fishery Ginghams, not been for a while. Need to get back there for a feeder session.

Some nice fish today, always good to try new baits
If you don't mind trying new baits could I recommend the bait tech sticky method pellets. I have recently been using 50/50 mix of the green and red and they've never let me down. Highly recommend them plus they are really cheap which is always a positive 😊
Not one shop local to me has the wafters in stock.
But had my first session on a fishery today and caught my first ever carp after 29 years of fishing!
Ended up with around ten crucians all caught on the first salmon pink westys wafters 😬
The original salmon pink F1 sweet will forever be my go to bait ! Though I must admit my new pineapple wafters are a close second. After that I would say mainline match cell
I actually tried the cell ones today and didn't get a bite so stuck with the westys, they defo seem to get more potent the longer they're soaked!

Tried a new water close to me today in Mansfield Woodhouse using sonubaits 2mm pellets and westy's salmon pink wafters, 5 carp up to 10lbs and 22 Bream, great water, I know it's a fair way for you but it would be great if you could do a feature around here sometime maybe

i use 2mm fish meal pellets made by the fishery £2.50 for 500g with horlicks to make them stiki, preston banjo method feeder with sonu bait pineapple wafters 6mm with 4 inch hook length works every time for me
I normally let the bailiff/ownner know that I've seen their fisheries on your channel. Just so they're aware of the free advertising they get. 😁

Am I the only one who soak his pellets for 20-30 seconds in the summer?
I’ve noticed that your pellets looks to soft and soaked ( at least on the camera)
I prefer to buy bulk, for example I bought 10kg of pellets from Aquastim.
Or when I bought from your products again I bought bundle so it can come cheaper.
Can’t afford to buy one pack a time and paying deliveries, end up extremely expensive 🎉

The pellets need to start to deform slightly, if they don’t deform then as soon as the feeder hits the water they will all come off. Slightly softer pellets will hold together longer but still expand and break apart on the bottom. Sometimes I do 30 seconds to 1 min if I’m margin fishing a shallow lake 👌🏻🎣
@@WestysAngling right, I normally soak them for like 30 seconds and once they go slightly dry I wet my hand and run through the tub to revive them.

What size and species do you get at that fishery . Love the dark golden coloured carp !
I think probably 18+ carp and 5lb bream but those may be few and far between. Not many tench but definitely tench in. Roach hybrids perch etc

less baits should be less price, unless its good quality ones like Pro Thatchers groundbaits compared to their 2kg groundbaits. Besides I love Sonubaits

Smaller pots & smaller Labels, means "Re Tooling", so more expense for the manufacturer - cheaper for them to stick with same pots!! + smaller would be less visible on the shelf!! (I'm an Incurable Cynic)

I grabbed a bag of Robin Red 20mm pellets, cheap so couldnt resist! They are predrilled but as hard as nails! You think they are ok to use on a hair as is?
Yes but if your carp fishing I cut a pop up in half and use it as a bait stop, turns big pellets into wafters 😂
@@WestysAngling Aha, not a bad shout! The 20mm pellets are too big for the fishery I was on today, They were struggling with a 20mm Scopex boilie though did get one on there. Have found that red coloured carp groundbait turns the fish right off. Wonder if its going to be the same with the Robin Red pellets? Great videos though mate! Love watching someone catching when I can´t get out because its just too damn hot! 🙂

prices have really gone up a lot lately! Rather pay more for a 1 kilo bag, now you need a calculator to compare pellets and brands..

@@johnderous7874 I don’t have a strict time limit, but a rule of thumb … 15/20 minutes in summer and up to 45 minutes in winter
Most of them pro's only leave them in for 5 max 10 mins. I find that quite short for the (bigger) carp..
What happens if both rods go at similar times?
you can try play with both of them, check up TA Fishing, seen some of his videos where he played his 2 rods at once.

Can anyone give me any advise, iv recently started trying to catch on method feeder but im not having much luck, iv had one or two carp but mainly just little rod twinges, any advise would be appreciated🙂
Change your fishery, target the margins 1/2ft out from the bank, maximum 👍🏻🎣

Hi Westy im not sure if you travel this far but how about trying Hayton course fishery Retford notts it's my regular fishery Tobey is the bailiff he lives on site opens at 7.30 has loads of ponds several are speci lakes night fishing is common on all ponds even the largest it's called Kingfisher and on Thursday 18/7 I banked 31 carp on method feeder n bomb in under 8 hours sized from 2/10 lb
Kingfisher has a massive head of silvers perch etc plus loads of carp varieties and barble to 7/9 pounds there is a rumor of a 15/20 specimen carp go up to mid doubles ... I like to fish "the point" two rods on kingfisher is £ 7.00 if your interested message me and I'll give you the bailiffs no other ponds are costed differently.... The fishery has a website .
