Bro I got to say when I look up a song on RUclips now to learn or re learn I hold my breath and hope you have a lesson on it..i love your attitude your passion your clarity your descriptions that's why I asked you about acid bath lol but I love this video!
that made me smile Rodney, thank you :) definitely not beyond the realm of possibility that we will do acid bath some day!
Same here dude
me to dude me to
Thank you for breaking down the chords and explaining why they are what they are.
you are most welcome Station :)
Ryan, my mom is 65 and she loves STP! (And Nirvana, the Foo Fighters, etc). Good musical taste has no age. 😍👍🎸🎸🎸
hahaha so is your mom twodogmom or are you and you're just telling me about your mom? either way this is very enjoyable :)
Ryan Lendt Ha! I’m the “twodogmom” (although, sadly just have one dog now). My mom is turning 65 and has some great musical taste. 😎
"Beatles of the 90's" ~ Dig it man
musical humor, simple songs, crazy complex songs, simple melodies, weird melodies - it's all there :)
Dude I've been playing it wrong for years! Thanks for clarifying and simplifying this song.
haha that's a lot of pressure on me I hope I'm right! cheers JA :)
One of the all time greatest ever great songs.
I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.
Your D#maj7 has allowed me to finally play this song after 20 years of trying..... everyone else plays it this convoluted way my fingers wont go. Cheers.
woo hoo! D#maj7/A# :) yep i know Dean plays it up there but I always show people that way because it's much more accessible to half of the guitar playing world
Man you replied to all your fans comments that's great ! I just subscribed! Thanks for the lesson!
still hanging on by a thread in that regard Scott - it's starting to become a lot, but I do plan to do it until I absolutely can't anymore :) welcome to the party and thanks!
You're showing a much easier way for me to play that Eb maj chord. Other vids have my fingers trying to make a shape that haven't worked for weeks. Thanks for this!
woo hoo!
Here you can see how STP actually voices this chord: ruclips.net/video/Zo7mbp6kcY4/видео.html
But I agree that it's challenging to play that way and what's shown in this lesson is easier.
Hey Ryan, thanks for all the lessons, they're great!! One thing I feel compelled to point out is that in the verse ... the C/E chord is -7555- and the E♭maj9 is -63333 (tabbed EADgbe)
Thank you so much for the info SG! I stand by my claim that I am 100% correct 94% of the time, and it's watchdogs like you that take us the rest of the way :)
I also play the Eb this way.
Agree with second but not first, from watching a video of this played live.
One of my all time fav songs...ever!!! learnt this about 18 years ago but still watched the video. love ur vids man
Thanks Ali! Did we both have the same idea about it?
Yesssss STP and The Clarks all in one week you are on 🔥. The acoustic version of plush is one of my favorite songs ever. One for the requested list Velvet revolver
Once again thank you
ha It's Troy week here and RLStudios :) The song is called Once Again?
Ryan Lendt Velvet Revolver, Slither.
That song will get you going like a nice cup of Superman coffee
I've given some real thought about what superman coffee would be... and i figured that due to the color requirements it would have to be superman smoothie. that'll be in development shortly :)
Love STP! Going to see them with AIC in Philly mid May. Miss Scott Weilland but props to the new singer. He can def hold his own. Great lesson Ryan! Tell your turtle Daisy that my pup Daisy can’t wait to meet her
oh no way - so much stuff seems to go on in philly :) I told Daisy but she just kind of looked at me wondering why I wasn't giving her food.
I’ve been using RUclips for lessons for years, you are the first channel I’ve ever subscribed to... today is the first time I’ve ever hit subscribe !!
I'm exuberant :) thank you so much for that Kenneth and welcome to the party!
Always watched your videos for acoustic guitar lessons. Bough a eletric guitar yesterday, this is the first lesson I am trying to follow xD.
The video is two years old, but thanks as aways Ryan! You keep us motivated.
congrats Gabe! good luck with plush!
I love your style, manner, humour and attention to detail. You have a new subscriber mate.
awesome! i love how you typically reference D\F# as the 'Betterman chord'. you could probably just say Betterman chord and we'll know exactly what chord you are talking about.
haha yes you're right :) I'll do a terminology video so I can stop explaining myself
Bro, I’ve struggled to play Jerry’s Ebmaj7 version until I seen this! So much easier! Great tutorial my guy 👏
glad to hear it thanks!
Very good lesson. You get to the point, but still have time to throw in some helpful music theory. I appreciate that you keep the chord shapes as simple as possible. Most of the time I can't hear much, if any, difference between a complex chord and its common form. I just want to play the song and enjoy the experience. The Ebmaj7 is tricky. I found a couple of easier ways to play the chord and it still sounds good. I give this lesson two thumbs up!
As always, your tutorial has saved my life! Thanks a lot!
Happy to help!
Mate, you're everywhere on my RUclips recommendations now LOL
And yes, I learnt this one by ear but thanks to you I polished it even further!
muahaha you can't escape ;)
Very Good method for learning this Great Song!!!!!!!!! A+++++++++++ Very good experience!
Many thanks!!
damn you Ryan.. I'm gonna have to play that live at a gig now !!! :D
Heck yeah Matt :) Good luck! post a vid!
@@RyanLendt well ..I did it....went down well !.. I cheated a little and opted for a D over the "betterman" chord...I did post a home vid on my Facebook but those links won't work here I don't think
Always educational and humorous!
thanks TP!
Wicked hair, dude. Thanks for the lessons!
thanks for hangin out maxter!
gr8 job !! thx from Poland :)
hugs to poland!
I always appreciate your videos! Could you do a rig rundown when you put out videos? That would be super rad. Thanks man.
Great lesson Ryan! Pretty spot on but I would love for you to try X65333 for your e flat then slide that down to an F power chord. I have studied Dean's headbangers ball chords and it looks like he plays this. It's an easier transition as well.
no I totally trust you wayne - this video was published before i realized i should start actually looking into which voicings were played for important songs such as this one - thank you for looking into it :)
This is a great tutorial, thanks!
Another beaut!! Was listening to STP on the blizzardy drive in this morn. Happy Friday to your gaseous tortoise
we are in sync then :) Happy friday to you frozen folks!
Is there going to be a test on naming chords, if so I need more time to study. 😊
Otherwise great lesson , the point about chromatic ascent and descent is not mention in other lessons
I've watched of this song, a simple point that enhances the lesson. Thanks Ryan
thanks Alan :)
Honestly would love to hear you cover this one. Would sound amazing :))
thanks for asking Ryan :)
Ryan, novice question. Towards the end would it be easier/ better to move from those Eb octaves down to a G barre chord, then slide down to the F? I was having trouble getting back to the G from those double octave slide downs. Thank you kindly! You are my go-to guy for anything alt rock, grunge, etc. Nobody does these lessons as good as you.
thanks Will :) A G is a G however you slice it - pick your favorite!
I accidentally found one of those cords when another video provided a tutorial to play it a way that my hand just refused to do. This is a fun song to play! I have the perfect model for it on Bias.
huh... I wonder where the disagreement is :) If I recall, this is an early vid and I may not have been quite honed yet, and some of the ways I taught this song to my students may have leaked into it. or maybe not and i'm spot on. either way, I'm glad to hear you're having a good time. oh and great to hear from you tango!
Ryan Lendt don’t worry. The other way is ugly and stupid. 😂😂
Dang I could not pay enough attention as you look so much as an old a%%hat flame I unfortunately cross paths back in the 90s hehe of course you are real cool and I liked this, your axe sounds great! I think my cover is coming out great! thanks!
good luck C!
Well done mate. There is a very interesting version of plush that played at MTV unplugged
MTV unplugged was the bomb. they should do a PJ one again, except 3 hours long.
I play this song tuned half a step down (cause 9 out of 10 songs I know are AIC). Sometimes I transpose, but I don't know! With this song, I just feel like it sounds so good half a step down. 😁
I'm on your side, go with your 9 out of 10 tuning :)
Ha Ha... turtle farts who knew!! Awesome as usual. You're on fire this week. Love it!
Thanks Kevin! Me either... but when they start to get a couple of pounds you can hear them breathe and such. It's a different thing.
Cheers Ryan, brilliant lesson. Determined to learn this one, our tortoise has just woken up from hibernation as well.
whoa. where do you live and what kind of tortoise do you have??
We have a 12 year old Horsefield called Fred.
I live in England near Oxford.
Great video! Ty.
My pleasure!
Meatlplow by said Stereo Temple Pirates is a good tune, you should do that
i think you meant stereo tempeh
I actually know this song and it's a good one. Thanks mate. It seems we're almost in the same time zone now OR I'm just up really late?
you're just up really late - I schedule them to post 7 AM my time... sometimes I'm up by then, sometimes not :)
Wonderful lesson again Ryan. Thanks so much. We have the same hair too, ha. Though I know you've cut yours ha. Cheers. 😊
:) I live in the south now. long hair is literally painful April through October!
@@RyanLendt Ha, I'm in Canada, so the hair can help 😄
you play it the right way, all others are wrong. good job!
aw thank you Robert :)
Tried to learn this again! After I nail Creep, this is next!
you got this!
Great video. Thx so much.
you're very welcome Dennis thanks for hanging out :)
I forgot to ask if this is suitable for an acoustic as well? Thanks
sure is :) in the recorded acoustic version they play it tuned a whole step down, i do believe
How do I tune it down a step for acoustic?
cool lesson!
Thanks James!
Big thanks
huge you're welcome :)
Ryan Lendt would you please consider showing how to play STP - Adhesive?
I miss the chords on the screen, but you're great
Thanks Marlon! I don't know how people do that - it seems like a lot of work...
Danke!
thanks for the boost stefan!
Do you have any videos to help master the "chuck" sound?...like in this song, I am not sure if the "chuck" is only on the down or down/up/down/up. It sounds rookie...but I pretty much am. Thanks for everything!
Ryan please please please do a tutorial for mad season's slip away!!!
I will! :)
Ryan Lendt 🤘
The "Betterman chord" 😂
that's what it is! :)
Amazing again! Do you offer personal classes?
thanks Jamel! you mean like skype? I haven't even thought about that. I do personal classes for a living though, in person at my studio, which i'm sure isn't helpful in this moment :)
Wooooohoooo so good
yay :)
Ryan Lendt ... i don't even play the guitar 😂😂.. i totally love all the music you play.. all my favs. Its fascinating seeing how it all comes together.. could listen to chord changes all day :) ... thank you !!!
Ryan Lendt .. oh ..ps... you're a funny guy and super cute 😘
haha you're very welcome! what are you waiting for?? get on craigslist, spend $50 on a beater acoustic and get started! And shux :P
Of course, a 55 year old woman in 2018 would like STP.
She was 29 when Plush came out.
Awesome you are too btw
thanks FTI :)
nice tutorial... would be great to have u in any band.... ty for posting... i have a question.... keyboard player im jammin with insists im playing the last chord of the song wrong... im playing a full bodied open G.... and letting it ring out to black.... is this not the chord? i think the vocal note at the end is throwing him off so he is hearing something wonky... scott is singing a G then gives a lil D,E,D or E,D wobble in his voice.... correct me if im wrong but regardless of what scott is singing... the last chord is an open G right? .... ty peace...
scott sings some bluesy notes in that end section, but you are correct - it is your job to just play a lovely regular old G :)
Ryan. Please please please PPLLEEAASSEE do "Chinese" by PJ. Please. Thank u!
Please.:-)
I so totally will!
Huh....my first thought was, is it creepy that youtube seems to know what I am noodling on even when I am not actually using my laptop or phone when playing? Does it listen? Is it just super smart? But now I am all afuddle about tortoises...torti...turtle farts. Do we have audio? I know I'm 3 years late to the party (story of my life). I'm a musician that's disguised as an ER nurse and it's been a really shitty shift since about April 2020. I don't suppose one can really do anything about torti farts as all they really eat is just, like a pure fiber diet now that I think of it. I am really spending an inordiante ammount of time needing to know about this. please tell me there's audio...
haha. all four of the sulcatas have since grown to be huge and all fart a lot.
@@RyanLendt four! That is a robust turtle collection. There must be a name for a grouping of turtles, like a murder of crows, a pod of dolphins.._________ of turtles...that sort of theing?
One more question. I watched the unplugged version and it looks like he's playing a barre for the Eb maj.? If so, it becomes even easier staying in barre chords. Maybe he was easier on himself for that live performance. I'm setting it to the right mark of that stp video:
ruclips.net/video/xnWGJoPvQ5U/видео.html
gosh it's been a long time since I've thought about this song. I do know that the Ebmaj7 I play isn't the one dean plays, but this is the way I always do it with my students since its easier for them
@@RyanLendt yep I've gotcha. I've been using both positions. Seems to work well either way now. Anyway, you've taught me a ton just from this one lesson. Man Weiland could belt this one out. Love that tune! Thanks.
STP are better then Soundgarden change my mind, love this song 🎵
art, being a subjective experience, cannot be better or worse. there :)
He looks like Peter Steele from Type O Negative
he has never got that one before :)
"Inexplicably likes Stone Temple Pilots..."
So she was in her 20s during the 90s? Doesn't sound so inexplicable to me!
that's a fantastic point!
Can you do just breathe by Pearl Jam
most assuredly :)
🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
shirts
@@RyanLendt 🤣
Throughout the song does dean ever have a slight bend at the intro riff or am i hearing things 😂
separate from the chord riff yes... there's a lead line in the chorus I'd really like to figure out as well, I think plush needs a finer points video!
@@RyanLendt oo definitely. You could call it "plush remastered"
@@bennymcgehee3305 yesss
Please a pearl jam- pendulum pleaseeee
hahaha I guess you found man of the hour :) I still owe you a banana sticker! I haven't forgotten, I'm just overwhelmed.
Ryan Lendt jejej don’t worry bro, I’m looking forward to another PJ tutorial, by the way nice can’t deny me tutorial
Strangest tribe pls
I'm excited for that one - thank you for the request Rafael :)
During Trump's Second term he's going to give sleepy Joe a Televised kiss on the cheek
i see what you did there..
hehe You need to wash your hair son (or perhaps it just needs combed)
is it raining in your bedroom
that is my music school
PS. I tried sending you an email long ago but your email was down and I got message saying it couldn't send it to you
yeah I switched emails after a boring and complicated issue: try ryanlendt@gmail.com :)
Boy you really made me feel stupid on that one
she was 32'ish when they were at their height. Do you think she listened to STP for the first time whwn she was 55? Actually it's music of her age not yours.
What do you use to record?
I don't have a tortoise, should I be worried ?
haha yes you should Keith, yes you should :)
thanks! cNt believe u have 2 dislikes...but be the hair ☹️
"you can be a delicious peach and there are still some people who don't like delicious peaches"
Thank you for that Lee :)
how to play Aerosmith full circle
i'm assuming that's a request
you lost me at "turtle"
tortoise, i do believe. I really lost you :)
@@RyanLendt Trees. Nearly.
Whats up man...Im just curious how old you are...I’m guessing 31 lol
good guess! You're gonna have to wait for the wikipedia page. lol. jk. I'm 35
Ryan Lendt lol. * Curiosity settled * 😄
Dude, you talk too much around the root of the subject.
If you exsplane the string and witch fret, you just talk too much and make it difficult for a student .
just sharing how I see things Tommy - I'm sure plenty of people like it and plenty of people don't :)
wrong
Son ,,,, the 55 year old woman was there Rocking when this music was Born
You , not born yet
I was born in 1982

@@RyanLendt lol! Rufus is a brilliant song writer. one of my top favorites. David Gray as well
