My uncle, Eric Farmer was a Telegraphist on HMS Cossack and wrote eye witness accounts of actions, they are featured on HMS Cossack website under LO3 section. Eric brought home the liberated swastika flag from Altmark and I keep this safe with Eric's cap ribbon. Sadly Eric lost his life when Cossack was torpedoed by German U boat.
What a wonderful video! The content and presentation is excellent. Very enjoyable, keep it up, and probably make one about Warspite some day? She was our most famous battleship, and many of us in the UK really wish that she had been preserved.
Well I have a good news, I have a two part series on Warspite! But I do have to say the quality isn’t as good, similar presentation style though. Also appreciate the kind words!
The second most highly decorated ship in the history of the Royal Navy which also survived the war is HMS Nubian a Tribal Class destroyer. I'm a bit partial since my great-uncle was one of the pom pom Gunners aboard her in the Mediterranean and in Burma
Nice presentation, but Canadians might dispute Cossack's title of most famous Tribal, since they have their own famous Tribal. And they will tell you, unlike Cossack, their Tribal is still around, as a museum ship in Ontario.
There were 8 Canadian Tribal Class destroyers including HMCS Huron which was present at the Battle of the North Cape and the Battle of Ushant, along with HMCS Haida.
Am a Brit. Have dived on HMS Māori in Valletta harbour and as a kid had a model of Cossack. Have read a decent book about the Tribals and others involving their wider fleet operations. Not going to take sides but these ships with a classic style, well trained crews and fearless/big bollock leadership are stars. Hope to visit Haida on day.
Sorry, the RCN Tribals have to take a back seat on this one. Not just with Cossack, but others like Nubian, Tartar, Eskimo, and Ashanti all at the top.
My grandads cousin bought home the Altmark flag . Its still in our fsmily today. Hecwrote a poen about this and the sinking ofcthe Bismark. Unfortunately he was lost when the Coaack was sank later that year 😢
You're probably referring to ORP Błyskawica which is docked in Gdynia, Poland. Błyskawica is not a Tribal, but a private venture by J. S. White & Sons, of East Cowes, Isle of Man.

8:26 unbelievable story, there were alot of heroes back then, I lost a uncle also , canadian pilot
My father was on the Cossack for the last 2 months it was in service fortunately he survived the last torpedo
attack that eventually sank it.

Longest hit from a ship of all time

This class of ships is a great looking design. The bow makes it.
One could argue HMCS Haida was in Canada famous for her war service in WWII and Korea
Yes dude... school comes first. Enjoyed this. Thanks.

And she remains the flagship of the Royal Canadian Navy. 🚢

Excellent video, well narrated and kept focus on the main story 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!

Could you make a video on the ironclad Huascar?
"The Navy's here!"
Good video as always 👍
Another famous Tribal class destroyer is HMCS Haida which is a museum ship!
I’d love to go visit her! She’s not crazy far from me either, so that’s pretty exciting!
Haida has a more distinguished career
I like the other Tribal destroyer in the Polish Navy “B” I can not remember here name correct spelling but ship in Danzig, Polska
