This looks just like my VQ37 engine I just timed!

Why didn't Nissan put dimple or some physical dot instead of paint? Also this is the first time I see the timing chain. Kinda feels uneasy to see the intake chain driven the exhaust. Would be good if they just geared it together just the main from the crankshaft is chain driven.

I think it's because supposedly there's only 4 Japanese engine builders that build all 8000 count cars each year; however, u can always rely on your color coded chain links to time the engine...it only makes it easier if u TDC the rebuild engine and paint pen indicate the rear cover...if you're doing one of these...just know after 20 rotations, your rear secondary chains will come back into indication...confirming u did the job right

How do you stop the bank one cans from relaxing or do you just mean how they both like to jump forward together when trying to add main chain or sum

So, if ur installing the tower, intake cam on bank 1 will be vertical...put that exhaust cam into a relaxed position clockwise (same position for removal)...install tower, then use a Cresent wrench on the cam to bring it back in place vertical and my preference is to leave the wrench on as I go through the sprocket and chain install for safety

So is it 2 circles on the driver ext gear. And 2 ovals on passenger ext cam? Thank you.

Just watch it one more time carefully...remember this engine made 980 awhp on e85

Better to say bank 1 & bank 2, then it's the same no matter what country you are in 🙂
Bank 1 secondary chain is circles. Bank 2 secondary chain is ovals. The primary chain then has dots on the cam sprockets that match the yellow links and dot on the crank sprocket that matches the orange link.
