This is invaluable! I am always approaching Ableton, but never sticking with it. This basics course solidified learning tips better; this will be the time I get to really use Live going forward. Thanks ✌️
I only started following your channel today but honestly, after watching so many RUclips channels and even creating a Playlist called Ableton... your channel has been by far the best. You don't waste time jibber jabbering about nonsense and get straight to the point... A point which is incredibly useful and totally informative. I've learned more in one day from you than weeks on other channels. Thank you. Really appreciated.
Thank you for this video. It was very helpful :) Just one thing. At 11:52 you showed how to get it to not snap to the grid on a Mac. I was trying to figure out how to do that on my PC. I tried holding down Ctrl and moving the clip but it didn't work. I tried other keyboard combinations too and nothing worked. I discovered that if you right click on the audio clip or even outside the clip, it says "Fixed Grid" in the Menu. So I turned "Fixed Grid" to off and that did the trick. I thought I would share it here for any PC users who are also stuck. :)
Hi there, Can Ableton slice a track in a multiple similar length clip like CDE + E but several clip in one shot. base on the length of the first cde + e slice position. Logic have this option with the slice tool + . Cheers
This was excellent! I’ve been playing in session view and it’s easy to forget that arrangement view isn’t just for capturing a recording… powerful ways to dissect your clips! Thanks 🙏
I did this by accident, but want to know how to do it whenever I need to and that is, how do you make the Gain Adjuster split into an upper half and a lower half?
FINALLY a good Ableton video. So many videos I find are useless and trying to e-beg. They obsess over tinkering with one compressor on one kick drum and the end result is still crap
GREAT tutorial!! And hey can someone tell me why I don't have a search field in my help menu (as in this video). Is this a new thing in 12? I have 11 ... Thanks!
if i’m trying to do this, but with midi clips, what would the best solution be? should i convert the midi clips into audio? or can you do this with midi clips as well???
Hi, thanks for your video's! A little question..the little fade boxes at the edge of the clip...do you have to activate them? I don't see them on my clips? very strange?
Correct, you'll need to save your default as being a blank sampler device, it's pretty easy to accidentally save a default preset which sounds like what has happened here!
Yep, in this case you'll need to go to User Library > Defaults > Instruments > 'Simpler.adg' You will need to right click and delete this simpler.adg file (this is the default that you have saved) which would be over-riding the factory default Hope this helps!
@@EDMProd Holy #&$@! It's been nearly a year, you beautiful man, you!! I deleted the .adv and relaunched...🤘👍 Is it odd that I hear your accent in my head when I read your responses? 🤣
I loke your videos, maybe some simple tutorials - how to quickly upload music to instagram/some simple mixing and mastering approach as well ? kindly thx
15;39 That bass is not in key. Just because you pitch it to the root doesn't mean it will fit in key because of the natural half steps it'll shift depending on which key it's in verses which one you're using. One or more of that bass line you used notes might be off by just a half step.

Can´t believe this is the only good tutorial about this topic. Thanks for your time!
As someone with severe ADHD, this instantly grabbed my attention and gave intensely great details that were easy to follow. Thank you very much!

You actually have to hold ALT on PC and you hold control to duplicate while sliding. It’s kind of opposite from Mac.

This video has been amazingly helpful. Watched many times.. Thanks!
so helpful thank you. really well explained.
Been at this ableton thing a few months and am in awe at the shortcut commands you just used. Thanks bruv.
how do you get the handles on the clip?
How do you shorten severel clips simultaniously?

Thank you so much Luca! Because of this amazing video, I could finally split a track in ableton. Saved a lot of pain.
Thanks, that will get me started.
No how to get the waves you edited into the rack?
is there tab to transient function in ableton? i use pro tools and it has it
i find it indespensable.
Thanks,. good lesson as always.
Thanks Fam, excellent tutorial 💪

Thanks for posting this, very timely . . . still unravelling the mysteries of Ableton.

Brilliant! Very well done. Learnt a lot. Many thanks :) 💕
Why does Ableton have to rely on keyboard actions so much? I simply want a scissor icon I can select and split multiple times with my mouse
Brilliant, thank you so much.
Really nice!! Thanks :D
I can only color the line below and can not color all the clip when i drag i do not know why
Hi, thanks for your video's! A little question..the little fade boxes at the edge of the clip...do you have to activate them? I don't see them on my clips? very strange?
I don't have the SEARCH function in the HELP menu can any body tell me why?
im on (11.1.6)
@David Blangstrup Thanks!
I dont understand why i need to click crop clips and then i can edit even i have dragged below at first i can not edit it directly
Maybe someome here can help me clear the default sample that loads when I bring up a Simpler. It always loads this stupid hihat sample everytime.
Delete hihat sample, right click on your simpler device then save as default preset.

@@EDMProd To be clear, talking Simpler. Every time I try and delete the sample, it cuts the entire instance of the device.

As long as it and the other instruments are in the same mode
Seems like audio editing doesn’t work the same in Arrangement and Session views.
Juplicate lol
How it’s pronounced here in the UK don’t know about murica
Using scripts for a good game like this will ruin the fun and adventure
