Hello RTINGS!! Greetings from Brazil! Thanks for your awesome reviews! I really appreciate your job!! Guys, I have a question: here in Brazil we do not have so many different monitors, some nice monitors do not come to Brazil. I am looking for a QHD gaming monitor, and the prices of Dell S3422DWG and Alienware AW2724DM are very similar, but the black smearing and ghosting of VA panel worry me as well as the local dimming and black looking gray in the Alienware IPS panel. Hi rtings, is this monitor have a noticeable ghosting or blacksmearing for gaming? Compare to my samsung odyssey g7 32" (really good va panel, no noticeable ghosting and blacksmearing at all for me) Is it the upgrade or the downgrade for my current monitor? Because of the moire pattern of the pixels on the curved layer, it’s not a standard flat grid so any alignment or gaps between pixels on the curve will be visible at irregular angles. It’s a trade off because of the backlight coming through at slight angles, aliasing will require more effort to ignore. The solution is to back off and distance from the monitor so you don’t notice… because it won’t go away. But… the only solution is to go flat, or go OLED/QDOLED where the backlight isn’t strong to bleed through, idk.

Hey Laup! Would you be able to confirm what sort of content you were displaying and whether or not you were connected via HDMI or DisplayPort? The reason we're asking is because it's only possible to use G-SYNC over DisplayPort, and it also doesn't work properly if your frame rate drops below 60fps.
@@RTINGSdotcom hey! I have activated the FPS setting on the screen and it changes the refresh rate based on the FPS of the game, but it still tears and stutters as if no sync option was enabled. putting it into the “middle” option (the one before extreme) in Refresh Rate menu. my friend did this and he said it made it MUCH better.
So, what would you recommend to me knowing that I am a casual gamer and I use the computer for gaming 80% of time, but I also use the monitor for home studying and media consumption? Thank your attention guys and sorry for any Ensligh mistakes :D

Holy amazing channel.
Do this monjtor presents any black smearing in software like AutoCAD, where you have a black background and thin lines across the screen?
Hi rtings, is this monitor have a noticeable ghosting or blacksmearing for gaming? Compare to my samsung odyssey g7 32" (really good va panel, no noticeable ghosting and blacksmearing at all for me)
Is it the upgrade or the downgrade for my current monitor?
I really want an ultrawide gaming monitor, but in my country right now only dell s3422dwg is the only option. The lg34 ips panel is not available, and the rest is bad VA panel with brand like aoc, viewsonic, and msi 34artymis (wich i couldnt find any full review of it). Do you recommend this dell monitor?
Thankyou !
It might help to check out the response time section of our full review available on our website, but there was significant smear in dark areas (which isn’t surprising given its a VA panel).

@@RTINGSdotcom thankyou for the advice, I ended up with lg 38gn950-b. I read all your ultrawide review monitor, and compare to ultrawide monitor that available in my country, which is only this lg 38gn950-b is the best option. The price tag is 1230usd btw in my country, so pricey. So far so good, but why this monitor not on your recomended list for ultrawide gaming monitor? Because the price? Or there anything flaw on this monitor?
What's the maximum height clearance below the monitor if the screen is on its highest adjustment?
Just measured it - 170mm
What monitor is good to use directly with the PS5? I don’t want to be using a pc to get the best out of any monitor. I hope you can reply! Thank you in advance
not this
Why are the response time results (at 5:42) different from the website? On the website, the "Response Time @ Max Refresh Rate" is 7.9, but here it's rated at 8.9.
I'm considering buying this monitor, btw, but this is the only thing that makes me uneasy. Noticeable black smear and ghosting, even with the ideal settings, would be quite a turn-off. :I
The results on our website repsent our most recent results with our newest methodology and updated firmware. The video was just filmed and uploaded before our newest methodology update!
@@RTINGSdotcom Oh, makes sense. Thanks.
Hey, question. I‘m only gaming at night in a dark room. You think the Dell would be a better choice then the LG you mentioned at the end? I know the LG is a better monitor overall but also 300 bucks more in my country. Thanks in advance mate

vrr flickering is a dealbreaker, since vrr is usted exactly when you cant sustain high fps, what about menus that are locked at 60 or cutscenes, I had the same problem with my monitor although I fixed it with CRU, I wonder if you can with this monitor aswell
@@ac3d657 Yeah for real my whole gamer time used uncapped FPS and I am done no issues in Red Dead if the game is coded well and has a good engine no need for that
Does thiw monitor have height adjustment as you say in your site review or doesnt as you say in this video; "The stand has an okay height adjustment and a fantastic tilt range, so it shouldn't be too difficult to place it in an ideal viewing position. It can't swivel, and due to the ultrawide, curved screen, it can't rotate to portrait orientation. The ergonomic adjustments feel smooth and are easy to adjust."
When we say "vertical adjustments" in the video, we're talking about the height adjustment! More specifically, this monitor has about 3.9" of vertical travel for adjustments.

Does this monitor have built-in speakers or does it have to be connected to an external speaker?

Unfortunately it doesn't have a built-in speaker. Sorry about that!
Why couldn't Samsung have just made a 21:9 G7?? AAAAHHH.
Always asking this question 21:9 odyssey with 240hz and the good va would be great
@@ManOfAttitudeLP1998 I went from a 34 inch LG that broke and then got a 32 inch g7 but ultrawide ruined me and now I hate 16:9. Also, 1440p is not enough resolution for 32inch
At 7:34 you show a Gigabyte monitor but saying that it is the LG. (Nevertheless, this is the best place for monitor stuff!)
If my purpose is mainly for video editing and content creation, is this OK? It will mainly be powered by a laptop like my Lenovo Thinkpad X1. Thank you.

That would be a deal breaker.
Happens during g-sync for me.

@@tipps8676 well my GPU's Nvidia so I cannot confirm.
@Hichem yea but I reckon if you have a GPU from the current Nvidia or AMD series the GPU should able to keep >60 fps for most AAA games...except if you go ultra for every graphic setting.
@Hichem oh yeah THAT game is definitely an exception. At the end of the day most people can't have it all...high fps, high def textures, immersive experience.
According to other reviews the best Overdrive setting it Medium. I wonder why you recommend most aggressive option - difference between units?
Could be a difference between units, testing, or just personal preference. Either way though, stick with what you like the most!
Can I pick 100Hz via dp?
Why no sRGB clamp mode? :(
Why does aliasing/pixelation seem to be more visible on this monitor than on my old LG 32" 1440p monitor?
Because of the moire pattern of the pixels on the curved layer, it’s not a standard flat grid so any alignment or gaps between pixels on the curve will be visible at irregular angles.
It’s a trade off because of the backlight coming through at slight angles, aliasing will require more effort to ignore. The solution is to back off and distance from the monitor so you don’t notice… because it won’t go away.
But… the only solution is to go flat, or go OLED/QDOLED where the backlight isn’t strong to bleed through, idk.
ive got one question about this monitor is it possible to split screen on it (use it as two monitors)

How to fix that awful saturation ?
There is no AUDIO with MAC.
IS there a workaround ?
This isn't an issue we encountered during our MacOS compatibility testing, and without being there to troubleshoot, it's hard to say what the issue is with your setup. If you continue to experience issues though, it may be best to reach out to Dell for technical support. Sorry about that!

Hi, today I got this monitor and I was using your profil from your test.
I installed the profile, went to color management, added the profile and set it as default profile. There are no differences for me tho. HDR is off. It's connected through DP and Mode is "Standard". Did I miss something or is there anything else I should adjust?
Thanks in forward.
You're not supposed to use their calibration profile. Colour representation can vary a lot from unit to unit because of manufacturing tolerances. If your want your unit to be calibrated, you will need different values.
@@245trichlorophenate Hey, that comment is like an year old but it's still interesting. So, ya, I figured that out. Though just because my colour representation may vary, I was still expecting some changes but there were none. Haven't figured out the why yet

What is the best overall Gaming monitor for Nintendo switch and PS5?
For nintendo switch a 24inch 1080p display is overkill.
Can you also do real signal proccessing delay test with oscillocopes like tftcentral
Please DO NOT get the Samsung G7. It only looks good on paper. Read reviews on any site and there are masses of customers (including myself) that have dead/bright pixels and other issues. Also the contrast ratio is absolute garbage. My Dell looks much better and I spent two days working with the settings to try and improve it.
We want Brandon
If it was IPS. I’d get it.
VA has much better contrast than IPS, and uniform black.
@@LaurensiusAdiKun terribly black smearing though. The blacks do look nice, but the smearing is a terrible trade off.
G-SYNC IS NOT WORKING!!! I just got this monitor and not only does it flicker, the image is choppy and stuttering! Stay away NVIDIA GPUS owners!!! Second day return.
My GPU is RTX 3070.
Tried this without v-sync enabled and my FPS was 100 to 140 constant. It’s connected to my GPU via display port. I also have the LG 34gn850 and it’s night and day clear that the Dell screen has nothing to do with g-sync. 0 issues with the LG.
Tried with Dota 2 and Diablo 2 resurrected. If it occasionaly works with one game out of 10 I would say that it’s not g-sync compatible at all!
That Asus is 50% more expensive than this Dell, can you really compare them?
Huawei Mateview better
It definitely could be, but we haven’t bought and tested it. So, we don’t have any of our own data to comment on performance. Sorry about that!
