Sabbath School - How to Read the Psalms, Lesson 1
Intro from the lesson quarterly: The Psalms are prayers and hymns of the Bible par excellence. Uttered in praise, joy, sorrow, and despair; spoken or sung in private and in the public by laypeople, kings, poets, and priests; coming from both the righteous and repentant sinners, the Psalms have served as the prayer book and the hymnbook to generations of believers. The book of Psalms owes its distinct role to the fact that while most of the Bible speaks to us, the Psalms speak for us and with us. The Psalms are a source of blessing, hope, and revival, a guide for both self-reflection and reflection on God’s greatness, liberating when one cries out of the depths, and captivating for a renewed surrender to God. It is thus not surprising that many people find the Psalms resonating with their emotions and experiences and adopt them as their own prayers. 🌏

So blessed that you have an independent episode for Sabbath School! Love being able to hear from SUMTv, 3ABN, It Is Written, and Mark Finely to help prepare for Sabbath School presentations with my class. God bless you all at SU with a great 2024 to come!

A great idea to have the Sabbath School separate and earlier. Thank you for the study. My favorite chapter is 119 because of its emphasis on the Word of God, knowing and living by it and its many blessings and benefits. We are off to a great start.

Thank you Sis Jeannie for the thoughts on singing from the Pen of Inspiration. I love the hymns and by singinging them mindfully since I was a child know many of them by memory. Everywhere I've lived, I've learned different hymns because people tend to have their favorite hymns they sing. I've learned others from listening to church services on media.
When I have opportunity to lead music at Church, I like to tell a bit of the history of the song, its author, the message of the sound and bits of information that others may find of interest about the song. This often makes the song more relevant and memorable. Be careful of hymns which convey false theology however. You may have to do a little surgery at times.
