This videos is designed to give educators a general idea as to the concept of a Professional Learning Community, also known as a PLC to educators. This video will provide specific examples of PLCs, give reasons as to why Professional learning communities are an effective way to promote collaboration among teachers, and develop teachers toward academic success for a school system. Specific examples of professional learning communities that are used in school districts are provided here as well. This video is part of a playlist from Teachings in Education, that contains videos on various teaching strategies, classroom assessments, google certified educator training, Bloom's taxonomy, and many other topics from education.

It would be great to have a real life example to help lay-people to understand the process better.

Yes, he did not say what data teachers would look at or what solutions would be offered. Saying that we are having a meeting to discuss how to prepare 8th grade to transition to high school (1:36) is a vague, ill- defined goal. No need to call that PLC, it is simply a meeting and not a very useful one, since it does not help classroom instruction. meetings like this would actually detract from teacher's ability to plan meaningful activities for their classes. 8th graders have been transitioning to high school for nearly a hundred years now. All of us made it from 8th grade to high school just fine. What "school-specific" data would you look at to for this?
This video is a good example of how ivory tower thinkers are ruining quality education in our schools and taking advantage of the hard work that others put into our schools.

I got asked about PLCs in a job interview last week for a teaching position. I told them I've never been in a PLC because I've never been a full-time teacher. I didn't get the job.
