    What unit is this?

That buck is no dummy .... he had his sentries posted. I agree with an equipment list wholeheartedly, I completely pack my bag the night before, and have everything zipped up to grab and go. If it's not in my pack, it is on the pack, or in a place designated for that stuff only. My mancave is a mess, so I won't leave anything to chance by laying things here or there. My pack is packed the same way every time so I know where it is when I need it in a hurry, and not fumbling around in the dark, or shining a light unnecessarily. YMMV ..... take care.

You ever spend any time in Unit 27?

@@RogueOutdoorsmen what do you think about the unit? Would you have any advice for someone hunting there for the first time in early January?

@@chance52694 great unit for otc deer. Stick to parts of the unit that are more open, so you can glass more, and plan your stalks once you find a buck that gets you excited.

So ive watched almost all your hunts and I like how real they are, was wondering if you could do a video on what gear is essential and what are some items that you wouldnt leave without. Thanks man keep killing it

Thanks for watching. Hopefully one of these times Dallas will be able to get it done. I think this is his 3rd year, he just needs to go out with me more often.

Was trying to get to AZ for the Jan otc hunt, but didnt work out this year. Thanks for sharing. Yup rangefinder is as important as anything when you are spotting and stalking in that country.

Sorry to hear that Phil. Plan on August or December when it opens back up. Thanks for watching.

Trent what kind of spotting scope and binos do you run? Love your videos fellow az boy here!!

I use a Vortex Viper 20x60x80 spotter and I use the 15x56 Vulture HD binos. Thinking about not using the spotter so much since it's so heavy (8 lbs) and buying the new 18x56 UHD Vipers. Thanks for watching Dan.

Spot and stalk is fun but unsuccessful 95% of the time.
Desert deer are easy to kill once you figure it out. Use your brain instead of your feet!!!

Is there such a thing as a otc “lower desert unit” that doesn’t involve illegal immigrants?

    • @RogueOutdoorsmen
      @RogueOutdoorsmen  4 года назад +1

Dre Sted 21, 22 south, 23 south, and 24a are good desert units, that aren’t down by the border.

    • @drested1793

That’s cool, appreciate that. This might be my future. NM made a change to regs last year that really kind of screwed up the bow hunts and left me with no tag last year.
I’ve done enough hunting along our border with Mexico to know that the people crossing now aren’t just looking for jobs and things can get dicey so the Tucson units are out for me.

    • @RogueOutdoorsmen

Dre Sted unit 27, 28, and 29 might be your best bets then.

I can’t believe only one comment talks about taking a 100 yard shot on a deer (or any animal)!! That’s just so wrong!! There’s nothing ethical or moral about taking a 100 yard shot!!! It’s archery hunting , it’s supposed to be up close and personal. I’ve killed many whitetail bucks, bull elk, caribou and turkeys with my bow and the farthest shot I’ve ever taken is 27 yards. I’ll practice out to 100 yards with my bow but I won’t shoot at an animal past 40 yards. It’s just not right, too many things can happen at longer distances. I’m originally from PA and all my PA bow hunting friends limit themselves to 40 yards and in. I passed a shot on a 165” mule deer here in AZ last year at 42 yards. I know what the buck scored because a friend of mine shot it later in the season.
Watching videos of guys taking unethical shots at distances way too far makes me sick !!
