    Top notch, short and easy guide. I'm experiencing difficulty in shifting and my gut feel it is the transmission mount.

    Thanks for this very useful guide. My 2013 Jimny has the same symptoms, albeit the gearstick shake not quite that bad - yet! Will be tackling the rear engine mount change soon to hopefully resolve it, very handy having your video to follow.

    I just found the same issue on my 2007 Suzuki Jimny with automatic transmission today. My symptoms were "clunks" on shifting, especially from 2nd to 1st or from D to N.
    The mount seems to be identical, but the attachment to the frame is different: the 2 bolts to the frame screw from the top.
    I'm planning in changing the mount tomorrow. Wish me luck! :D
    Thanks for the video - it was exactly what I need it.

      Thanks for leaving a comment. Best of luck with the job! It's really not too bad, access is the main issue.

      @@charlieshooter I've done it already. Yes, I had to jack the transmission mounting plate all the way up to the car's floors to have access to the bolts. It was broken the same way as yours :) the new mount (Nakajima) came with welded on nuts, so I could screw the bolts from the bottom ;) thru the old ones into the new ones. Fortunately is the same size thread and no modifications were required.

    I have replacd the same mount recently on JB43 Jimny. The centre bolt and the amount of tension on it seems to preload the mount and affected the shock absorbtion. It is about 3 turns of the bolt from firm to supple and this made a difference for me in harshness. Finding the right position halfway seemed to work best. Also Suzuki seemed to have reversed the postion of the nuts on out 2008 Jimny. The bolt enters from the top of the gearbox mount and threaded into a welded nut on the bottom side of the mount. It is really fiddly and awkward since there isn't much room to work with. Guaranteed to make you say a bunch of rude words!

    My 2007 automatic Jimny vibrates through the seat when I put it in Drive and especially Reverse (fine in Park / Neutral). Thinking that this is the likely culprit, especially because I can feel it through my seat. Not an urgent fix but very helpful to have this video since I'm a car DIY novice.

    First, thank you for the video and congrats!
    Greetings from Brazil!
    When you install the new part, this uneven between the holes on the frame and the holes of the mount, is it normal?
    I saw that was needed to force the gearbox to the place to put the screws.
    For any reason, the mounts of the engine in front of car can be univen mounted and it cause the uneven on gearbox?
    Sorry for all of doubts, but I am facing the same issue in Brazil.
    Thank you in advance!

      Hello in Brazil! That's fab that this video is still helping people...and all around the World too! 👍🏼
      It may seem uneven when you try to line it up, especially if it's been out of line for a while. They are on rubber mounts after all. It should go in OK eventually though.

    Hi Charlie! Thanks for the video! Very good Job.
    I have a question, This issue affects the gear shifter mechanism? When I use my Jimny in 4X4 mode, the gear shifter stick comes hard to operate and not engaged the 1st or R gear

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  4 года назад

      Thanks very much! I've never had the issue with 1st or reverse to be honest. This may affect it. I noticed this issue because the gear lever was jumping about a bit.

      @@charlieshooter As the gearbox is slightly over to one side and effecting the gear stick movement.

    Hi, would this cause the car to vibrate from about 50mph onwards? Trying to fix a vibration at 50mph, Just found my mount to be de-laminated like yours was.

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  4 года назад +1

      It may well do, it is holding the gearbox solid? However the Jimnys do suffer with a bit of death wobble at that speed that can basically be attributed toclots of things!

    • @geoded
      @geoded 11 месяцев назад

      3 years late... but your anyone else reading, vibration at 50mph is likely "death wobble" or simply badly balanced wheels! If you've recently swapped tyres then get them balanced and make sure they do it using a stud attachment instead of a cone one because Jimnys are very sensitive to wheel balance issues. Get it slightly wrong and at 45-50mph they will absolutely wobble.
      Something about resonant frequencies and blahblahblah.

    Just glue it with rubber/metal glue

    • @charlieshooter
      @charlieshooter  6 лет назад

      That's an option, but the rubber gets perished over time and for the sake of approx £30 I'd prefer to change it.
