I'm not from there but when I went, even I can say that the best cheesesteak spots are those places with the hard to see entrances or the hole in the walls.
I had a cheese burger at a bar in the military, and it was the best cheese burger I have ever had!

The first 5 links I clicked on for best cheesesteaks in Philly, and neither of them were on there. I saw John's Roast Pork on there a good bit. I think one mentioned these 2 but that was it.

I'd rather have Dellasandro's. Pat's steak came out to me so quick the cheese wasn't even melted (and kinda half thrown on the bun). Definitely not one of the better cheesesteaks in Philly.
Im a Philly native and I've never in all my life seen someone bite into a cheesesteak from the end. That was weird😂. Those cheesesteaks are overpriced tourist traps. A good cheesesteak has no gristle to chew through, no cheese whiz, and is usually cut in half. They also come from mom and pop corner steak shops❤.

Being from Wisconsin I have never understood how cheese-wiz is the staple of the Philly Cheese steak! There are so many better cheese choices to make a sandwich taste a lot better!
Being from Philly, cheese wiz is not the staple. Is it a popular option? Of course. But many Philly natives hate cheese wiz on their cheesesteaks. While not the best cheese, most shops will use American if you do not preference what kind of cheese. My personal favorite is provolone. Or a American/ Provolone mix.
@@chill0314 Provolone is great if the steak and roll are of high quality because it really allows you to taste everything, American is the classic in my opinion similar qualities to the wiz but just nicer in general.

I read somewhere that the owner of Geno's is super xenophobic. Maybe that's part of the reason why it's so hated
The issue was that he put up a sign years ago saying that when you placed your order, order in English. Some people took it as xenophobic but it was about preventing issues with order accuracy.
Both are trash. I had a better cheesesteak at the mall when I was there on business.
