Ken, there is no second interview applying for fast food and retail.. not from my experience . You get an interview, then after a day they call or text you if are hired or not. If you are hired, you are scheduled for your first day of training. At the retail job I work at now there was an orientation and then we were told when our first day was.
My son can't find a job in his field but he did find a job in retail; he shows up, he's responsible and now it looks like they are cross training him to promote him
To be fair, millennials received some bad advice and false promises when we were encouraged to go to college. At some point though he should have shaken off his lofty expectations and just gotten a job for the income.
Four year without "full time job" is actually quite normal--most menial labor job including fast food and cashier aren't full time anymore, so they can avoid paying benefit. Nowadays, it is more "normal" to have two or more part time job that adds up to have more hour than normal full time. That said, yeah, no job would certainly be a problem of the individual. "Bad" jobs are everywhere.
“Hello McDonald’s I’m looking for a Jo….” “You’re hired” This guy knows how to get in contact with news media and get them to listen, but he can’t find minimum wage job 🤔
