In this insightful video, I will dissect Tiger Woods' recent comeback in the Bahamas. The focus is on Woods' swing transformation from 2020 to 2023, uncovering a significant yet undiscussed change.
The video starts with a comparison of Woods' physique, noting the noticeable difference in his body over the years. I delve into the swing analysis, meticulously examining key differences in Woods' technique, particularly at the top of his backswing.
The attention is drawn to the shortened backswing observed in Woods' recent play, juxtaposed with his fuller backswing from previous years. Potential factors contributing to this alteration, such as injury recovery or increased muscular bulk impacting flexibility, are discussed.
The video meticulously breaks down specific swing positions, highlighting the variations between Woods' 2020 and 2023 performances. I raise intriguing questions about the potential impact of these swing alterations on Woods' ball speed, distance, and overall game performance.
While acknowledging similarities in Woods' swing beyond the backswing change, the video scrutinizes the potential trade-offs between improved accuracy and potential distance loss due to the modified swing mechanics.
I'm hopeful for Woods' continued improvement and return to winning form. The video provides a comprehensive analysis of Woods' recent swing adjustments.

A couple other things (it could be camera angle), he looks to be deeper in the backswing on the left, and covering the ball a bit more on downswing. The swing looks more draw biased on the left, and you can see his right foot less active. Could be camera angle and shot shape, but noticeable differences.

Interesting catch on the right foot being less active!

I think his driver swing now is the best I have seen for a long time ,long and accurate ,short game can now be worked on ,he could be back for 2024

It looks like a very controlled swing, which if he can still hit it far enough while being even more accurate, I agree, 2024 could be fun to watch!

How are you measuring shoulder turn, you said it was less than 2020, what is your point of reference for interpreting the shoulder turn?

Left shoulder, right elbow and shaft angle at the top of the swing all show a shorter backswing and less turn

Vastly different heights of camera angle changes a lot of things. Those swings may actually be the same length at the top. Also hard to know if hes hitting a fairway finder fade in one and a bomb draw in the other.

I’m thinking tiger bulked up with the intention to lose a lot of of that bulk. He’s done it before. Maybe he thinks he needs it but he really doesn’t.
Man he looked good in 2020; it’s crazy everyone was talking like he was some miracle. I called that tiger masters win in a DCP van on the way to the event. Everyone heard it. Talking who’s going to win said “I keep going back to tiger”. And he won.
He imo will get back to his winning ways.

It looked like he was sweating more than everyone else as well. I believe he will downsize a bit as all that bulk will cause him to expend more energy on the course. I love his swing though. Glad to see him back.

I think he likely bulked up in order to protect his fused spine whilst still being able to swing fast. I believe this was also to compensate for reduced mobility. There's a weird misconception in the golf world that if you bulk up, you're more prone to injury, but this couldn't be further from the truth unless you're lifting irresponsibly.

I doubt he was passed parallel in 2020 it just looks like way from the angle

The right leg is straighter at the top in 23 as well. The camera angles are a little different so that could be part of it. Definitely shorter. Also, he could've been hitting two different shots here as well. A cut on the left and draw on the right. 🤷🏼‍♂️

That's a good point, one could have been a cut vs draw!

@@longdrivebryce we rarely make the same swing twice due to changing conditions and shots so I've learned to keep that in mind with picture and video analysis. It's really helped me in swing eval.

I believe he had chemical assistance in recovery and training. Steroids and HGH at least. There is nothing wrong with this though. His accident took away a lot. Why not use all the resources available to him to get back at least some of that? He may win again here and there, but he will never be as dominant again no matter what he takes. I'm rooting for him.
