I love my explorer, and it's a pretty decent combat ship, but once I got it kitted out for exploration it really came into its own. I need take it out in the void again.
I loved the dbx for exploring, but I imagine for power play it's a great ship, when I had it I wasn't doing power play, but for federation power play when you are jumping between control systems taking out traders it would be great. The Vulture I did it in was a lot of work because of the jump range
favorite thing to to while killing wings of npcs is to line them up so that when I destroy one of them I boost through his wreck with all hard points firing at his buddy.
The D:Ex has fantastic hit dissipation. Which makes it great for exploration and running that setup you had. You'll notice the issue you had with it wasn't in heat build up but in capacitor capability. (I almost said capacitor capacity and got sad).
Great video Chaos. I was wondering if we could expect an impressions video of the good old Viper any time soon? I feel like its a potent ship that many people overlook.
I think I will stick too my ASP for both exploration and combat. Still though, this thing costs WAY less then my ASP did, and the ASP does not even get a large hard point.
Where is your exploration potential video for the DBX that you were referring to at the end of this video? Am I just not seeing it or does the title of it not reference the DBX in any way (making searching for it difficult)? I'm about to pick one of these up soon, kinda curious what that video has in it. Thanks!
how does he make this build work, when i make it in ED shipyard i get above the 19 MW with weapons deployed and even with turning the cargo hatch FSD fuel scoop and one of my shield cell banks i still get 109% usage. the only difference i have with this build is that i have another 3B SCB and a 3A fuel scoop
TheDutchRanger your problem is you have an extra 3B shield cell bank which uses tons of power, check the stats of power draw before you use it, also try to ignore this guys set up its very impractical and should only be used with patient and season elite players who know exactly how and when to shut off modules. The best rule of thumb is to not exceed you maximum power plant capacity it saves a lot of stress, time and energy on what you should shut down in the midst of a battle. It really sucks the DBE only has a 4A power plant which isn't enough for having a large hard-point slot but if you upgrade your power plant you can get up to 17 or even 18 mw of raw power.
great review! however i couldn't get even close to the max fsd because it seems i have too much mass? i don't know what i did differently then you 4A power plant 4E thrusters (can't have bigger or max mass is a problem) 5E fsd also can't go bigger 3D life support 4A power distributor 3E sensors 5C fuel tank 4A shield generator empty 4 3 with a 2E cargo rack 3D fsd interdictor 1E basic scanner 1 planetary approach suite 3C mulitcannon 2D beam laser 2D beam laser please help me out @CHAOSWULFF
+jakekillify I understand what you're saying but some of the ships are credibly expensive that's why I'm saying it needs Micro transactions The people who can not able to get that much
Jake Rossiter The harsh reality of an MMO like this is that if you don't have enough time to grind to the best ships, you just don't get to play the best ships. If you could buy them, everyone would buy them and the games progression would be broken. Its not like you can buy yourself a top level character in any other MMO. Plus half of the fun of this game is earning your way to the top, if you just bought an anaconda with real money then your missing half the content of the game. The game is balanced around a few people getting to the top and most people being around the Cobra-python range, and that is fair. If someone does not have the patience/time to grind to the top then they just have to be happy flying the mid tier ships for a long time, or maybe the game just isn't for them. Sorry for the rant, but paying for ships in a game like this would cause uproar in the current playerbase who have been grinding for months, it wont happen.
+jakekillify yeah but I've been trying all different methods to earn money and some of the methods I found have been neutralised with it no longer work is like going A research plant there are no ships their toll it isn't really a fast way to make money since I do bounty hunting in the game
Jake Rossiter unfortunately mate the challenge of the game is to figure out how to earn money. I recommend smuggling missions and combat zone combat bonds. If your dead set on bounty hunting then try taking assassination missions. The internet has your answers, just look.
Sorry to say but combat in Elite Dangerous in Solo with the AI has become nothing more than a glorified Duck Hunt. A Python running from a DBS. Come on FD. FFS whats next, a Conda running from a Sidewinder. Sort it out (amongst the stuttering issues) or you can forget Horizons.

I LOVE the sound of the DBX.. it sound like an old steam engine when speeding up or slowing down... "Chug Chug Chug Chug"
Gotta love the space hind
You could try using rail guns. They are really easy to use with fixed lasers. The only problem I have with them is they don't have a large one.

@8:45 ish I love hte hitchhikers guide to the galaxy books...
I wish that the different bulkheads gave a visible aesthetic to the ship.
Great video Chaos. I was wondering if we could expect an impressions video of the good old Viper any time soon? I feel like its a potent ship that many people overlook.
+jakekillify It's on my to-do list ;)
You really should target the power plant on those big ships. It makes taking them down a lot faster.
I really want to like this ship but just doesn't seem to get the job done like a vulture :P
I so want this ship :D
Might even equip it with two Medium Beam Lasers (Gimbaled) and a Large Cannon.
+Julopabene Bananenplantage Large cannon
If you're looking for a diamondback explorer, I highly recommend going to Wolf 406. It is 20% cheaper than at other terminals.
Thomysyno The Saur Can confirm, that's where I bought mine. Will set you back ~1.5M cr, instead of 1.9.
+Julopabene Bananenplantage I just got today, love the large cannon. few hits and small ships are gone.
Yup, exactly my experience :D
I think I will stick too my ASP for both exploration and combat. Still though, this thing costs WAY less then my ASP did, and the ASP does not even get a large hard point.
At 50 tons and a huge jump range smuggling on the side might not be so bad if you have a buddy in a side winder doing the port station
Dude if your gonna use beam lasers go for the gimbaled variants they will save you a lot of time in the long run.

+Sylon HD Sadly I haven't gotten around to it just yet... I will do so ASAP

well i think i did something wrong then, thx CMDR O7

4A power plant
4E thrusters (can't have bigger or max mass is a problem)
5E fsd also can't go bigger
3D life support
4A power distributor
3E sensors
5C fuel tank
4A shield generator
empty 4
3 with a 2E cargo rack
3D fsd interdictor
1E basic scanner
1 planetary approach suite
3C mulitcannon
2D beam laser
2D beam laser
please help me out @CHAOSWULFF
Why trailling mode? i find leading mode a lot easier to hit the target with :)
+0PPR3550R Gaming I find it easier to work with using Plasma weapons and fixed cannons.
I wouldn't take on a python or anaconda with a DBX in the current version of the game. Literal suicide. Might get lucky with the Python.
what's ment with unladen?
+Michael Maszk unladen is with empty cargo racks and laden is with fully loaded cargo racks
oh
Laden is a german word and means loaded and also with unladen unloaded
You spelled Wolf wrong.
"this ship is mainly designed to be an explorer, which is why it's called Diamondback Explorer"... Jeee, really?? Thanks Captain Obvious! ;-b
I'm very shallow. This ship may be amazing but its ugly so I won't get it.
You don't get very far in games like this, do you?
Do you think elite dangerous needs micro transactions for Xbox one because I think so
+Jake Rossiter What kind of microtransaction? As long as they are only aesthetics then sure, but there needs to be no pay to win in this game
+jakekillify I understand what you're saying but some of the ships are credibly expensive that's why I'm saying it needs Micro transactions The people who can not able to get that much
