As a national guard recruiter, you were spot on with this video. USAREC recruiters are relentless about tearing down the guard for some odd reason. I never seen any national guard recruiter talk down about other branches. We simply provide the facts to the applicant and care about their well being. Well I do. And if the guard doesn’t fit them then that’s fine. If it does then that’s fine. This is somebody life and future your playing with. Why lie? That’s why I took it upon myself to help as many people I can with guard like it helped me.
It’s why I became a recruiter over 17 years ago too! I don’t get it. Why feel so threatened to be like this? When in person they’ll literally stand there and treat me like a second class citizen. It’s the strangest thing. I learned quickly that when conducting school military panels where recruiters from each branch of service discuss our branches to parents & students, I’ll go last. Correct misinformation, share the Gospel of the Guard and drop the mic when done because I’m the last speaker 😎
I ship November 1st and I’m so excited! Being in RSP the last two months has made me so proud to be apart of the Kentucky National Guard. I’m going in as 12N.
When you get to your AIT, make sure to ALWAYS pay full attention to the instructors, block our any other distractions and take up all the information that they give you, idk if you’ve operated the machines your going to use their but if you havn’t just take it slow, don’t frustrate yourself or it’ll make it harder, and in Basic just push through. Whatever it is just keep in your mind that you needs push through, winter is coming so your gonna be in the cold just like I did, make sure to keep as warm as possible, oh and remember that as long as you get up and start moving around you’ll stay warm and not feel the cold as much, trust me I did basic and AIT in the winter
That is crazy that you made this video because I had my army recruiter tell me the same exact thing you’re saying in this video. I had told him that I was possibly interested in the ANG because I thought that the ANG would be a better fit for me. Thank you so much for clearing this up for me. Now I’m more interested in the ANG.
It happens more than I’d like and it’s Toxic AF! Bottom line is whether one is interested in going Guard, Reserve or Active Duty… we’re all excellent options for various reasons. One dream, one team. Join the best one that suits your needs! Glad I could help clear some things up! Best wishes and thanks for watching!
I have to say, I've been dealing with the bureaucracy of Army and Air Force Recruiting for almost 3 years now and when I decided to start working with the Guard, I heard everything you mentioned in this video from the Army recruiter. Thank you so much for putting this video out, it has made me feel that much better about my decision to go NG.
Thanks a million!!! Notice not one USAREC Recruiter is disputing anything here in the comments??? Their silence speaks volumes! Haha Nothing but facts in this video but any component of the Army or branch of service are all excellent options in their own right. Just need to meet the needs of the applicant . Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Just hit my 20. 5 years active and 15 years NG. NG can be a pain in the ass missing one weekend a month, but its a sacrifice. I've gotten over $150,000 in tuition money over the years, a VA home loan, a bomb ass civilian job, a commission, a fat ass drill check, and will draw a pension when I'm 58 all because of the NG. Everything I have, and the trajectory of my life, is all because of the Army.
I love it and thank you for sharing! Adding your AD benefits with your Guard benefits are amazing right!? Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Thank for your service and I appreciate what you’ve done for us all🙏🏼🇺🇸
Currently 29, full time career in construction but I want to serve my country. Thinking about going national guard 20 years puts me at 49… I am sure I can keep my civilian job and the national guard will offer me what I am missing. Any advice? Am I out of my mind, I will admit I am not in the best shape but have started working towards losing weight and getting myself ready.
I couldn't appreciate this video more. My son is currently Active Duty and in BCT in Fort Jackson. My daughter is a freshman in college ROTC, and currently in the process of enlisting in West Virginia NG. My sons home recruiter was great, but as far as NG vs Res. info, your pretty spot on. And everything else we learned from my daughter's WV recruiter is accurate. I wasn't sure who was actually telling us truths. This, and your video about transferring back to your home state, have been very helpful. Thank you so much!
Sounds like you had a great AD Recruiter! I love it! Glad I could help out in some way and best wishes to your children on their commitment to serving. I’d proud in your shoes and I appreciate you watching this video! Stay blessed!
As a 21 year multiple deployment National Guardsman, I want to say thank you for this awesome video. I've enjoyed my time and would and have encouraged not just my own children, but many of my nieces and nephews to serve at least one contract with the Guard. It gives you time to get a taste of it, in which you may choose to go full time, or you may just use the money for college. Now folks ask me, "SSG, what would you have done different?" To that my answer is I wouldn't have been so loyal to my unit. Of which I mean, I never left except to be tasked out for a deployment, or other mission that required it. I tell the younger group to leave if they get the chance. If you are offered a promotion to move up go get it. Rank is hard to find in some MOS's as the Guard only has a set number of officer and NCO ranks in each unit. Myself, I was lucky enough to join a unit that was in my hometown and I stayed there... Because it was home. To the newly enlisted I'm going to say, Don't do what I did. Don't be comfortable with where you are, take courses, go improve yourself, chase that rank, swap MOS's if you have to. Do the best for yourself, because you are the only master of your destiny
Thanks a million and I love doing videos! Thank for your service and I appreciate what you’ve done for us all🙏🏼🇺🇸 Thank you for your insight and advice shared! That's solid advice!
Wow! This video really answered a lot of my questions! I just enlisted in the Georgia National guard last Friday as a 88m and ship off to fort leorned wood January 26th.
One question my recruiter told me I would still have drill once a month before I ship off. What will recruits do at drill before they ship off to OSUT? I’m guessing it’s just a workout since i haven’t been fully trained yet.
Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 That’s an excellent question and I’m surprised they didn’t tell you. I did a video on that here: RSP/RECRUIT SUSTAINMENT PROGRAM: ruclips.net/video/Cgu4fQW1_Fw/видео.html It’s mandatory to attend one weekend per month until you ship to training. You’ll get paid to workout and prepare for Army Basic Training. Good luck and best wishes in Training! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best!
30 year old female about to finish my BS in accounting, you inspired me to join the guard! Being in the National Guard and having to do drills every month will keep me motivated to stay in shape, as I am passionate about fitness. Also the educational benefits are great if I want to pursue another degree, (grad school?) or pass it down to my future kids. My brother joined the Marines when he was 18 and got deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan and came home with PTSD I was a little scared to join the military myself but I’m gonna be smart about it!
Glad I could help in some small way and inspire you. That’s awesome and thank you for sharing! PTSD is dependent on the individuals mindset, ability to handle stress and being resilient. If one is prone to not handle those things very well and are exposed to traumatic scenarios, make experience those symptoms, etc… We have lots of help for our combat vets, etc… I think the issue is vets let their ego prevent them from seeking that help. As for Tuition, checkout this link to check your state and then reach out to a Guard Recruiter near you for the specifics to how it works: NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Thanks for all you do and your videos, originally, I was going to join the Army National Guard but switched to wanting to join the Coast Guard, I kept on training to lose weight in order to join it until I started looking more into the National Guard but felt it would be wrong because it felt like I was going off my goal and "settling" it was not until I watched your videos and heard some of your wisdom in regards to the overall military selection process and how "No one branch is better than the other" I started revaluating and realized I felt the same "settling" feeling when I decided to go to the Coast Guard from National Guard as well. Long story short, I am finally getting that you are right, no branch is better than the other and more often than not people will always question their choices when first doing them. I'm only 22 so I know I am no different. Out of both, the National Guard is giving me help with my weight, assigning me diet plans that I am going to get to and when I found out that I am actually close to the body fat needed to enlist. The National Guard went out of their way to help me, so in my mind and personal honor code, I feel indebted to them. Long story short, I am casting my lot in with the Army National Guard for my service. I am still a bit scared but I am going to do it. Thanks again for all your videos, currently within my process I am signing the ANG contract today. You have been a great help !
Hooahlujah and excellent choice! Hope you made it today abs signed your contract. Thank you for all your kind words and great job in sticking it out to achieve your goals! Welcome to our family!
Oh haha I’m not in meps yet but I’m going about the process all the same while I’m not in the family yet I thank you greatly ! I will continue to watch your videos as well as I’m still deciding between going in as an Officer which everyone is pushing me towards or enlisted as I honestly want to do MP badly Be blessed sir :)
My old army reserve recruiter told me that State TA runs out which is why I shouldn’t go guard. Ha which in my mind, worst case scenario if it did..I’d be getting the same I would get if I joined reserves. It’s still a win win. Long story short, I’m now working with a Guard recruiter and feel so much better! Your videos are amazing!
Your experience is exactly why I do these videos! Thank you for your kind words and Good Luck in MEPS and may the MEPS Gods forever, be in your favor! 💯 Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Thank you for all these videos! I terminated the process with the army reserves and did the paper work for meps with the Texas NG for medical exam at meps. I did well on the asvab i scored 111 on the GT and my lowest line score was 105.
@@TEAMSWARTZ the myths video about NG not being federally funded and the education benefits from the state (something i didn’t know til your video) all in all im happier working with the Texas NG i go do the medical portion of meps next monday everything looks good and I qualify for a program that lets me skip half of 68W AIT since i am a civilian emt already and have the nremt. It also will also allow me to start as an E2 for my education and college hours. The reserves did not tell me any of that.
@@TEAMSWARTZ I'm 37 going on 38 and the ANG recruiter told me that I need to state my case why I want to join the NG because I'm over the age limit. True or false? I leave in FL.
even though im going active duty Marines i really appreciate the transparency sir! iv had too many NYNG and army recruiters lie to me. i ship to MCRD Parris Island in a couple weeks!!!
My pleasure and Stay Blessed! 🙏🏼 Good luck and best wishes in Training! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
LOL youre SO SMART sir! your knowledge overwhelms me 🤍 well good i'm glad youre mad. bcz these people have to ENDURE all this , including their families. i appreciate you being upset & frustrated bcz now YOU are DEFINATELY a HERO in my book!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for caring about these unknowing individuals. I already loved you, lol now i love you more you ROCK sir⭐ ArmyStrong⭐Mom 🌴cilla TAMPAFlorida #teamswartz
Very true but the intent with this video and all my videos isn’t to say we’re better because that’s truly up to the perception of the applicant. I agree with your statement but yeah… lol
This video is hella accurate Sgt. I’m currently in the California guard but I remember talking to those Reserve recruiters and they said everything you said for reasons not to join the Guard 😂…you just convinced me to stay Guard 🇺🇸
Is there anyway to avoid federal deployment if single and with kids? Or at the very least no more than 6 months Deployment makes it incredibly hard for me to make a decision. I am female. Started off wanting marines. Scratched that out to be there for my son, who is autistic. Guard would allow me to be there for my son and also serve my country. I have not signed onto National Guard, yet, but greatly considering and already emailed my state recruiter. I'm really looking for the most trusted answer about deployment. I do plan on using my college benefits as well, but mainly it is about my son I'd love you for a response
Deployments can be and usually 9-12mo but closer to 12mo in majority of the cases. Occasionally they’re 6mo but I wouldn’t hold your breath. You may or may never be deployed but plan on it at some point. It’s a risk that we all inherit when we enlist. If you’re not comfortable knowing this, it’s not a viable option for you unfortunately. DON’T JOIN THE ARMY UNTIL YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST: ruclips.net/video/dVCY7tFWSLA/видео.html Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
When I told my buddies who are in the Active Duty about my ESAD orders, they made fun of me. But actually that's the awesome experience I have so far, and gets more points for promotion.
Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Glad you stuck it out and AD always make fun of us but deep down wanna be us! 🤣
So accurate! Boarder Patrol is the most unique fun mission I’ve enjoyed my time on it an it’s open so much on the civilian side for me! An aye combat support baby!!!!! 88m an my guy just got promoted to specialist an hit my 2yrs in this December right before my birthday
Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 I wish I had done the border patrol mission. I’m sure it would be a great experience and interesting to see.
@@TEAMSWARTZ much appreciated brother! An it’s been fun on the boarder mission that’s for sure never a full moment! An I hope you continue to stay blessed an keep keeping it real!!!! #HereWeGooooooo
The only negative thing I have experienced in my 1 year 2 months in the FL National Guard is them telling me the state program for my enlistment bonus is down meaning they have no idea when we are getting our first 50% of enlistment bonus.
I heard some chatter on this yesterday but didn’t get the details. Let me look into the reasoning and give it to you straight. I’ll probably lose track of this post but DM me on Instagram @TeamSwartz
Active duty guy here big SFC. How in the fucking world are you able to pull off 2 broadening assignments at the same time?!? That’s actually dope as hell lol. #jealous 😭😂😂
Good luck and best wishes in Training! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I was both NG and Reserve, and retired as an AGR Soldier, 25 years, 9 months 3 days...never got a bonus, enlistment or reenlistment or otherwise, because of my MOS...never got tuition assistance from either...the command structure kept their full timers stuck in the office...
I got an initial bonus for my MOS as an M-Day Soldier back in 2001 but like you, no bonuses after that. They just started to issue bonuses to AGR Recruiters a couple years back but of course I am over the time in service restriction to qualify lol. As for TA, sounds be me like you just didn’t use it for the reasons you determined. The benefits are there and available to use but a lot of us make excuses. I am a Recruiter that works their butts off ranging from 03:30-midnight. Long hours and weekends but I just recently started college online. Time management is a huge factor in the success in juggling work/life balance. I’m in my 5th week of my 8 week course and currently maintaining a 99% average. I am AGR full time as a Recruiter, RUclips content creation, single father and now a college student. I’m busy to say the least. Lol I’m sorry to hear you weren’t able to use your benefits and I’m sure now you can with the Post 9-11 you’ve earned! Get that degree! You got this!!! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
As someone who’s in the NG I’ve done state missions and will say the only down fall and it’s a hit or miss is pay my last 2 times in state orders. It took almost over a month and a half to get paid without civilian job paying me while in orders. Really put me in a bind. Now I don’t volunteer for state orders only if it’s mandatory. Other than that I love it 👌🏼
Sounds like you have a relatively new admin making big mistakes or improperly trained. Idk but that’s unsat. The worst is when you bring up pay issues and they play it off like it’s no big deal, it’ll get fixed and you get your money. Cool, but that doesn’t pay the bills or put food in my stomach in the meantime but you mess with their AGR Pay, all hell breaks loose lol

Thanks for all the information. It has been really helping me prepare for my ship out. Hey I had a quick question that my own recruiter has been slow in answering me on, was hoping you could provide the information. When does Tri-care kick in? Does it start the day of my ship out or does it start the day of my actual basic? I am trying to get paperwork in to my full time job and need to know when i should end my current health insurance. Thanks in advance!!
They day you ship out is the effective date for your Tricare to kick in. Thank you very much and glad I was able to help out in some way! I appreciate you and stay blessed! Good luck and best wishes in Training! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best!
I think so too! But that’s subjective depending on the persons needs. Both are still very good options for the right reasons that meets the needs of the potential applicant. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
As a brand new Army Recruiter I will be honest and agree that I have heard some of these myths come from some less than quality recruiters. However I would like to point out active duty recruiters have nothing to lose by not making mission accept maybe an ass chewing, which I have have had plenty of in the Army. On the other hand National guard recruiters are being paid full time only while they are recruiting and have everything to lose not making mission aka $$$. The National guard recruiter in my area literally lies to kids in my high school saying " I am an Army recruiter look at my name tape it says U.S. Army". So I think some of the information you put out was good vs Army reserve as far as benefits I think a better non bias video would have compared all three and been honest about how both sides are loyal to there service whether Active/Reserve or National Guard. I would consider myself one of the "good ones" as I do not spread misinformation, I only layout what my service has to offer. If I have an applicant come to me asking about a sister service I simply tell them I can't speak for (insert service here) but let me tell you what the United States Army has to offer you and you can shop around if what I tell you does not interest you. And I would additionally have to disagree 100% on the more skilled in there prospective job Active versus Reserve/NG you could not be more wrong. I would put my worst private up against any national guard sergeant in a PT test, live fire exercise or deployment after training with me for 6 months. No matter the organization you belong to the one variable that is always constant is you have bad leaders everywhere. But like you said when you do the same things for months and years you get good at it without even trying. Okay this ends my rant in summary I thought your content was decent with a sprinkle of misinformation, carry on.
Thanks for being a real one and for sharing your thoughts as a brand new recruiter! I’m curious to what possible lies the Guard Recruiters in your area are saying. What lies are they spewing? I can’t speak for other states National Guard Recruiters but we have Recruiters fail mission year after year. How they aren’t let go is beyond me but yeah. So No, not entirely accurate or at least in my state. Both USAREC/Guard Recruiters have a lot to lose if they fail mission. It reflects directly in your NCOER. More so than it should depending on your Rater and Senior Rater. As for the Lie about us being I’m an Army Recruiter may be a bit of a stretch in your part. We all wear the same uniform and we all belong to the U.S. Army as our name tape says. Our uniform doesn’t say AD Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. We belong to our respective components of the Army. People ask me all the time, are you in the Army and I always respond with Yes, but more specifically the Army National Guard. Now, if they’re lying by stating they are specifically USAREC AD/Army Recruiter… that’s a lie and I don’t see how that can assist a Guard Recruiter at all. No value in that statement. But we are in the Army. No lie there.I don’t know the context of that conversation you’re referencing to what you shared but that’s interesting. I disagree with you on who’s more proficient. Guard and Reserve Soldiers bring way more to the table than AD does hands down everyday. We bring civilian acquires skills to the table and legate them when needed. Yes, AD trains all the time which leads or can lead to complacency. I’ve seen it. 10th Mountain in Fort Drum killed their own people with Artillery the month prior to our Annual Training in 2002. I forgot the exact number but it was in the teens. While we were there conducting our annual training, about 50m off of our Observation Point we had a Round go off above us. They tried to blame us but we went cold over 30min prior and Range Control confirmed it. Sadly, it was the same AD Artillery Unit as well that killed their people the month prior. Crazy I tell ya. We all have our own unique experiences but we can agree to disagree. Going back to the advantage I started to share is our civilian skill sets that we bring to the table and often do full time as a civilian. Short story: A USMC AD Engineer unit was building a post in Afghanistan from scratch and was over 3mo behind schedule. The National Guard MP Company was there for perimeter security. Commanders had a discussion because their Guard Soldiers do this daily as civilians agreed to swap rolls. The Guard MP’s not only completed the engineers jobs but they finished 6mo early and radio’d back that they were on schedule. Chilled for months with the help of the Guard. Majority of people going into the service are young people with little to no experience and learn on the job skills within the Army. Guard and Reserve offer way more than just an MOS. This is just one example. I also see your point and I can’t argue that neither. It boils down to the leadership and training being conducted. You’re right and I’m right in our own way. It’s not about being right or wrong but more so as looking at them from different perspectives. By the way the Guards been dominating the various competitions for a few years now. Just keep monitoring the Army Times headlines. You’ll see us there! Lol As for unbiased comparison videos, I did one here: GUARD vs RESERVE/SIMILARITIES+DIFFERENCES VIDEO: ruclips.net/video/tiMVDM6FzRY/видео.html I’d like for you to watch it but fair warning, it’s 52min but we’ll worth the watch time. Feel free to share with me your thoughts on that. I think I’m pretty fair and unbiased. At some point I’ll do Guard/Reserve vs Active Duty. At the end of the day, each components of the Army are phenomenal choices for in their own right as long as it fits the needs of the applicant. We both agree there and that’s all that matters.
@@TEAMSWARTZ on the topic of proficiency I'm simply referring to the Army job at hand whether it's combat arms or support anything you train for full time you will be better. As Elon musk said he would put in 80-100 hours vs 40 hours a week so that he could do accomplish in 1 year what others would take 2+. If you apply that same logic to job skill when it relates to military occupational specialty there is no argument to be had except for those who lack the motivation to be skilled in there job which is prevalent in both part-time and full-time employees. And yes active units have made terrible mistakes but if you recall what I said in my previous comment there are bad leaders everywhere. I don't have any bias for which service you choose as the fact that you are choosing to serve your country or state shows your character and courage knowing that you may be expected to put your life on the line to protect the people of the United States of America. And that is something to be proud of either as an Active Duty Army soldier, a reservist, national guard or heck even Marine, Navy Air force service to country is service to country. #proudamerican
@@OGARDKNARF I will agree that if training to standard and doing it full time will make one more proficient due to repetition. I can’t argue that! I could have done a better job at delivering the intent of what I was attempting to drive home. The point I was driving home was that when we do train whether Guard or Reserve, we train to the Standard with not cutting of corners. Agreed, horrible leaders in every profession, everywhere. I agree with you that as long as they decide to serve, we’re all excellent options as long as they choose which one that fits their unique goals and needs. #ProudAmerican
Active duty recruiter . While I agree the state and fed funds makes sense. Reserve soldiers also get access to the MGIB. Don’t say THATS all they get for the year THATS extemely miss leading. And the fact that you can also get SLRP up to 40k from what I’ve seen. Could had been 30 as well.
And second you can’t be assigned a different unit unless you ask for that. You have a contract and that contract states where you will be what unit and for how long. The reserve can’t just switch you unless you’re AGR which is a different boat
I tell anyone that if they do join the guard or reserve that yeah you do the two days a month but if you need help or want to go active you can file for AGR in both.
You were very miss leading in your rant and that’s not okay. Every reserve unit every active unit and guard unit is different and you’ll get a lot of different responses on experiences.
Negative Ghost Rider! Thanks for responding but you are part of the issue I’m expressing in the video. I was clear and concise. State and Federal Funds makes total sense. It’s spelled out like duh.com. You’re saying that it’s not a first come first serve for Reserve right? Well, when you compare the Guard to the Reserve, you’re referencing the Federal Tuition Assistance. Both Guard and Reserve use the same feature of $4k/yr or up to $250/credit. Correct that is not based on a first come first serve basis. That remains the same for both Guard & Reserve. Now you’re misleading the populace reading your comment. When discussing the National Guards State Tuition Assistance (STA), that is however based on a first come first serve basis. Best rule of thumb is apply and apply early for the STA. Each State varies to how and how much STA is paid but one can search on our Official Website on NationalGuard.com for an overview for their State (NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/) and sit down with a Recruiter for a more detailed explanation. NYARNG for example offers 100% to all CUNY/SUNY Universities/Colleges or up to the SUNY Rate of $7,070 that can be combined with the Federal TA of $4k and the 1606 Montgomery GI Bill. Army Reserve can only use the Federal Tuition Assistance & the GI Bill. That’s why I’m saying that’s all they get. And both Guard and Reserve if otherwise eligible can get the SLRP (Student Loan Repayment Program up to $50k). Facts! Plain ‘n Simple… I’ll break it down Barney Style: Federal Tuition Assistance = $4k per year or up to $250 per credit for up to 16 credits. GI Bill Kicker pays up to $200 per month for 36mo (equivalent to 4yr degree) for a maximum payout of $9,600, not the $7,200 you mentioned. 1606 Select Reserve GI Bill pays up to $407 per mo (equivalent to 4yr degree) for a maximum payout of $14,652. Student Loan Repayment Program of up to $50k in eligible student loans TOTAL AMOUNT POTENTIAL for both Guard & Reserve is the same (Including all above at max benefit) $78,252. Not $77,200. (Official Point of Reference: 1606 GI Bill www.benefits.va.gov/GIBILL/resources/benefits_resources/rates/ch1606/Ch1606rates100121.asp / GI Bill Kicker (your official link is out dated and does not reflect the changes this year to reflect $200/mo and you can refer to your Army Reserve SRIP for yourself) www.goarmy.com/reserve/benefits/education.html?iom=ARRN-21-NMTF_N_PSEA_71700000078537639_700000002153590_43700060222098833_58700006591160591_%2Barmy+%2Breserve+%2Bgi+%2Bbill&gclid=Cj0KCQjwwNWKBhDAARIsAJ8Hkhc331DU_UCle7NX9k5IQ0nIlnjxSKrNzls3Lhpv33Li5p26paBdJJEaAmn9EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds and updated on our website and is updated to reflect the correct eligible amount here, Our Official website: www.nationalguard.com/tools/gi-bill-kicker and in a convenient Education Handbook 2021: www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/military/documents/FY21%20TNARNG%20Education%20Handbook-20201015.pdf Non-Prior Service Applicants State Benefits: State Tuition Assistance is as stated in this video based on the first come first serve basis and I did state that State Tuition Assistance is State specific. Which I directed potential applicants to refer to the link previously listed above and to sit down with their local Guard Recruiter to how it’s leveraged to their respective state. There are other State Benefits but I won’t get into them here and now. We pay up to 100% for the entire State Tuition Costs. Some States offer additional State money to offset the costs for books and many don’t as you pointed out but to make it clear to you and anyone else who reads this, neither Guard or Reserve pay for books with the Tuition Assistance through the Federal or State Tuition Assistance Programs. As for being moved to another State while serving in the Reserve, you’re mostly correct but you’re wrong. I dated a girl once for a year and her Reserve unit moved her from a NYC Unit to Alabama and it had something to do with her MOS no longer being in that unit. She had no choice in the transfer and her request to reclass at that time was also denied. Now, agreed this is more than likely an exception and not the rule and I know for the most part the Reserve do their best to keep you local as I stated in my video. As for AGR, yes you’re right… both have AGR and the only difference in our AGR Programs is we remain in our State close to our friends and family. As you stated the Reserve will PCS you around based on their needs. That’s a Pro or a Con based on the individuals needs and mindset. Thanks for responding but please be factual when it comes to features and benefits, especially when expressing opinions.
Thank for your service and I appreciate what you’ve done for us all🙏🏼🇺🇸 Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
How long was the process in becoming a full time recruiter in the guard? I’m extending another 2 years at my current duty station and I’m wondering the process of transitioning to the guard after. Any information would help. Thank you.
You’ll find out within two weeks of the board/interview for Recruiting. Then typically with 30-45 days or less you’ll inprocess and what not. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I’m a college student and work full time. If I join the guard and I get activated to drive school busses around like what’s going on in MA, will I have to put my job and school on hold?
There are Pros/Cons to going Guard or Reserve. If being activated for State Missions is going to deter you from joining due to the fact it's going to possibly detract you from your goals as a full time college student and employee, maybe the Reserve would be a better option for you in that aspect. However, i implore you to do research and way out your unique pros/cons and deal breakers. For example: National Guard can pay up to 100% of your Tuition Fees depending on your state. NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ Plug in your state and chat with your local recruiter to find out the specifics to MA State Tuition. Reservists don't qualify for State TA because they are strictly Federal. Guard is State & Federal as i describe in all our videos and explained on our Official website: www.NationalGuard.com If you care more about having more than $4k per year in Tuition Assistance, Go Guard but understand we have a larger purpose and responsibility to our State in combination to our Federal Missions. Reservists only have to do their one weekend per month Drills unless called upon and activated for overseas or federal missions but the downside is less Tuition Assistance. The choice and compromise is and always will be yours. Weigh out what's more important to you and choose from there. I did a video I thing you will find useful in applying these tips here: DON’T JOIN THE ARMY UNTIL YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST: ruclips.net/video/dVCY7tFWSLA/видео.html Understand that some state missions like the bus driving in MA, will only apply to soldiers with an applicable drivers license that authorizes buses and other specific vehicle. That won't include a normal Drivers License. It would include at the very least air breaks test but for state missions in general, it's not always the entire unit being activated. It's often times on a volunteer basis for the units that get rotated to assist during state emergencies or instances like this by the direction of the Governor of your state. I hope you found this response helpful... Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Gotta go or can use the Guard/Reserve as a stepping stone before taking the full plunge into active duty? That’s how I pitch it if they’re hesitant or reluctant to go straight into AD cuz they know once you’re on AD, that’s it until your contract is up. Going Guard/Reserve you get a conditional release to go AD. Not guaranteed to be approved but still a viable option. Go AD and decide AD isn’t for you, you have NO OPTION to go Reserve or Guard. GUARD/RESERVE TO ACTIVE DUTY: ruclips.net/video/QWCfrIxVyHQ/видео.html Thanks a million! If that lie is true… that’s nuts!

Hello, I'm new to this channel. I'm a freshman in university and is playing on going to medical school in the future. I just went to an MN Army National Guard and he said joining national guard will grant me in state tuition across all 50 states. Will this work even if I choose medical school? Thank you very much.
So I’m an active army recruiter. While your NG recruiter didn’t lie to you he did miss lead you. It’s not that you’ll get tuition for all 50 states but that you get tuition you get to choose the school you go to. However the only issue with that is if you go guard it’s gonna be hard to get released to get into a different state guard. So essentially you’ll have to make your way to drill every month regardless of where you’re at.
Both this AD Recruiter and your Guard Recruiter are wrong or you possibly misunderstood them. Federal Tuition Assistance is Federal and can be used in ALL 50 States but limited to $4k per year or up to 16 college credits at up to $250 per credit. State Tuition Assistance is State Specific and to view what each state offers in a summary, checkout our official website: NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ and plug in the states you’re interested in attending college. Bear in mind the issue is if you wanna use State TA, you must belong to the Guard in the State you’re attending your college. It’s not difficult to transfer to another State unless you’re flagged for a negative reason. If that’s the case, you won’t be able to use any benefits period but you’ll be required to do an IST or Interstate Transfer and I did a video on that here: NATIONAL GUARD INTERSTATE TRANSFER VIDEO GUIDE: ruclips.net/video/LQQ5VTfrTA0/видео.html If you don’t transfer, whether you go Guard or Reserve we both provide the Federal TA and the Scholarship Program referred to the 1606 Select Reserve Montgomery GI Bill. That pays up to $407 per month for 36 months. You’ll get assistance regardless but if able to transfer and leverage the State TA for that state you transfer too be significantly pay wayyyyy more in TA costs. If you don’t transfer, as the AD Recruiter stated you’ll be required to travel back and forth for your monthly drills. If your unit isn’t doing a once per year training event like Weapons Qualification, ACFT, PHA or anything else, you can communicate with your unit early and request a SUTA. Essentially what that means is you find a local unit nearest you, drill locally and that local unit emails your home unit proof and verification you attended drill. You’ll get paid and remain in good standings with your Guard contract. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Best wishes!
So I joined the Army National Guards a couple weeks before I turned 18 and at the time I never smoked, but now I vape and occasionally smoke black and milds, but I haven't told my recruiter yet and I leave to bct in October. Since it isn't weed, do I still have to tell my recruiter because I'm afraid of getting kicked out.
Black n mild and vape are not illegal or inappropriate products to consume within the military. Although weed is legal in many states, not authorized for use of service members. Cigarettes, cigars, hookah, vape are all legal and authorized for service members. Vapes with CBD is not authorized or any CBD for that matter. Hope this helps and addresses your concerns. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Good luck and best wishes in Training! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best!
No need. Cigarettes, cigars, hookah and vapes are authorized. Any other substances like but not limited to is weed, CBD (any form) regardless if it’s legal in your state and any other illegal or controlled substances are not authorized.
No, but understand getting the Vax is not mandatory and will be administered to you at some point throughout your initial entry training. There are some limited religious or medical exemptions one can possibly obtain prior to enlistment. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Army Recruiters like myself dislike this video. Jk 😝. Very informative. I learned a lot about the NG that I was ignorant about. We are still better though 🙂
I ship out in 5 days to fort jackson 92 automated logistics specialist wv nat guard looking to get into recruiting possibly when I get home wish me luck

Hello brother Louise thanks for your videos also does enlisted gaurd members have to take the Covid vaccine or are there excemptions ? and if I enlisted right now when would I have to take the vaccine I’m just wondering because I want to join but my parents are against the new vaccines
Vaccines are mandatory and it’s not your parents serving. You are and that’ll be a decision you’ll ultimately have to make but know you’ll eventually be discharged for not complying to the new mandate I’ve been preaching would happen over a year ago. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 Good luck and best wishes in Training if you follow through with your commitment! 💪🏼 Make the best of it, have fun and do your best!

If I wanted to get a 14P I believe it is, would that only transition to a federal job or are their states that can transition into? The reason is, I’m trying to figure out what MOS for both the reserves and NG could carry into a Federal job. I already have to get a age waiver so my goal is retirement from either snd a federal job.
I’m not sure Air & Missile Defense Crew-member translates to any civilian federal employment. I’d suggest going for any MOS that requires a Secret or Top Secret Clearance. The MOS is irrelevant majority of the time but simply being a service member and having obtained a clearance is def going to position higher on the consideration scale. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
@@TEAMSWARTZ always on point! Thank you for responding. Quick question, if I take infantry, are there more then just special forces I can train in from it ? It’s between 3, Air Force/army reserves and National guard? Can I get a clearance as an infantry ?
@@bronzedar5108 Thank you and I try lol. As for Infantry, that’s not an MOS that requires a clearance but if mission essential and/or the unit wants to, then yes it could. As for SF, only AD and Guard carry SF. Reserve doesn’t have SF. I've never heard of majority of these rumors, but everyone on active duty knows that national guard is a sweet gig if you plan on going to college or even if you're gonna ETS from active and go to college. There must be some grimey people out there recruiting. I'm an E6, just got out after 8 years and signed with the guard. We've had TA suspended on active duty multiple times because of the budget lol
My Brother was in the Guard . But went active but before becoming active he said he got all the New shit . M-14'S and other stuff. He said at the end though they gave them a CAVALRY COMMAND in IRAQ so they were part of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. BUT HE WAS SENT BACK FOR KATRINA only to go back TO IRAQI 🤷💙
That’s an excellent option of that meets the goals and needs of the individual looking to join. That’s applicant dependent. A Guard Soldier can get 100% of their TA paid for leveraging the State TA while attending college full time and graduate 3yrs sooner rather than leaving for 3yrs to then leave and focus on college full time. If they have an aggressive goal to graduate by a specific timeframe… then going to AD might not be so appealing. Guard may be a better fit for them and still achieve the same result. Make sense? Which is why as a Recruiter, it’s our responsibility to share each avenue of approach and allow the applicant to choose what’s best for them for “their” reasons. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Hey DS I’m still looking to join the NY guard, in regards to having to take the vax which I know is now mandated. I did see a article that stated if you still show antibodies you could hold off on takin the vax. I was wondering if that is true and if you are required to take the vax upon heading/entering to BCT or do you take it after BCT or AIT. Thanks again DS for all content you post and making me want to join the guard!
Thank you very much and yes, the Vax is mandatory now. Either on your own or throughout your initial entry training you’ll receive the Pfizer. If and when you’re ready, I’m more than happy to help you join the NYARNG! Stay blessed!
In regards to the claim that the guard doesn’t train enough to be proficient in their MOS, I think that depends a LOT on what the persons civilian job is too. First of all, it’s not as if 11B in the active duty are spending all day every shooting and clearing houses. 68W active duty members aren’t patching bullet holes all day at Fort bliss, etc.. While National Guard members “only” train one weekend a month, two weeks out of the year, let’s face it, their civilian jobs could easily translate into helping feed their MOS. A civilian crane operator for example, might get more actual time using cranes than their active duty counterpart. Someone like myself, who enlisted in the guard as a 68W, but who is also a civilian RN and EMT, I would bet is almost certainly getting more patient contact - and depending on the EMs agency or department the RN works in - more critical patient contact, than an active duty 68W attached to a line unit in Washington state. An 11B ARNG, civilian LAPD SWAT team member who spends their civilian time actually deescalating situations and/or apprehending people maybe gets more yearly training and practical application of their combat techniques taught than their active duty counterpart 11B’s who are spending a lot of their time in the motor pool. Hammerhead Six by Ronald Fry is a great book which exemplifies this theory with an ARNG ODA team in Afghanistan. They utilize their outside “real world” skills to improve their aptitude and effectiveness as soldiers.. Their 18D medic was an ICU nurse, etc. #TeamSwartz another great video!!
Thank you for Sharing and I def wanted to share a story in reference to what you shared but the video was already long enough lol. I’m doing my best to creat shorter content but it’s so hard 😩
@@TEAMSWARTZ can I ask why you want to create shorter videos? Personally, DS Swartz I like the longer videos you put out. You are one of the military youtubers who put out detailed, informative content videos. The devil is in the details they say, and the details matter to me in helping me feel more confident about what I’m going into, and the decisions I’m making! Joining the Army is not a small decision. It’s not a small decision for the 17 or 18 year old kid in or fresh out of high school, and it’s certainly not a small decision for the 28 or 33 year old with a career and a family. It’s important to take the time to educate oneself and practice patience when making big decisions. If listening to an hour long video will give me the information I need to make a “well informed” decision as you like to say, it’s worth that time! I’d rather spend the time now, to gather the facts and be a well informed trainee, than to make a decision based on half baked ideas because I didn’t take the time necessary to do the research, or nobody put out informative content out of fear of being too wordy. There may be some people who prefer your shorter videos, and to each their own. But for me? Since I’m making a decision which is going to greatly effect not only myself, but my career, job, family and friends, I want all the information I can get. Taking the time to listen to your longer videos, taking notes, registering, cross-referencing, etc. I believe will all be worth it once I’m in the IET environment in a couple weeks. Thank YOU for all YOU do! Keep up the strong work, and don’t sweat those that tell you you’re too wordy.
Thank you so much for your in-depth response. I peep the analytics from time to time and people dip after watching about 40% of the videos. I mean, that’s considered great retention based on my research but I feel like maybe if I create shorter content people will stick around longer. On the other hand I do create content for people just like you. Those who want highly detailed information but without the fluff. I’m not sure how everyone feels about the way I deliver the info but I try to be clear and concise with out repeating or just rambling on. I don’t want to waste peoples time or patience neither. Keeping it below 15min also allows me to repurpose it on IGTV too. I agree that joining is an adult decision and not to be taken lightly. It’s serious business and a huge commitment. Thank you again and know I appreciate your feedback! 🙏🏽💪🏽🇺🇸
@@TEAMSWARTZ DS Swartz that makes sense! Gotta cater to the people I suppose. I wonder how or if those numbers will change once you shorten the videos, or if they’ll continue to leave approximately 40% of the way through even once you shorten them. That’ll be interesting to see..just know there is a core of us, who DO watch your videos, no matter the length, and DO see the value in the information you out out. Thanks again #TeamSwartz!
I would rather cater to my viewers like you than the ones who are just browsing through. My intent is shorter than 15min. Primarily to be able to post to Instagram IGTV because that’s the time limit. Otherwise I have to break them up into increments of 15min or less instead of a full length video. Do you feel I’m too informative, just right or could add more? I try not to add my opinion much because my opinion doesn’t really matter to a potential applicant.
Okay, Army Recruiter here…. As always, the NG tells half truths. 1) Army Reserves can use both Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) and the Select reserve Montgomery GI bill which will pay for 36 semester months(4 years) of school. 2) There are conditions to the 100% TA in the NG (varies by state) for example, in KS after completing your last semester in college you must add 24 months to your service or pay all that money back. In NJ, they will pay your tuition but you must purchase all books and cover all other expenses. So look into the local requirements. 3) Yes the army reserve is federal, yes you can work in any 50 states while living in another state, however that is on you, the Army won’t just move you, you have to make the choice to move states or station. The army will refund your trip, pay for your hotel and everything else anyway. So the NG you are stuck in that state and must ask permission to move to another state NG. They can deny it. 4) Say your the oldest branch all you want, the Army will always be the 1st official and oldest branch of the United States. So at the end of the day, you choosing to serve your country is great, however, if the NG was so awesome, they wouldn’t tell the half truths and constantly belittle the Active Army/ Reserves. They wouldn’t say it’s easier to go active duty through the NG and they wouldn’t tell people that it’s easier to pass MEPS by going through the national guard. All true, our local nation guard recruiters have a 2 page print out of (personal) negative things in the Active army, they use this during their initial interviews. The NG will call schools pretending to be the Active Army and cancel school visits. I’m no expert but if your recruiting tactics is to belittle the actual army, do everything you can to sabotage our recruiting efforts, and tell half truths….. maybe your applicants should explore all their options and ask better questions.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your thoughts. 1 & 2 Response - Correction on your part - The Federal Tuition has not always been eligible to be combined with the 1606 GI Bill for Guard or Reserve. I’ve been Recruiting for 17yrs and the majority of the time that is a restriction. Only since 04 MAY 2021 did DOD Policy change and allow the Army Reserve and other Reserve Branches have the ability to leverage and use both Federal Tuition and the GI Bill simultaneously. So this was not a half truth. It’s more than likely that the Guard Recruiter is unaware of the recent DOD Policy Change and should no longer be preaching that old selling point or exploiting that disadvantage to a Reserve Applicant. Do your duty and educate those Recruiters as I am with you now. As a Leader we should be helping each other and building each other up, not the other way around. For many years the Guard has been able to combine the State Tuition & GI Bill together where a Reservist had to choose the FTA or GI Bill but not both. That was a HUGE Selling point until that changed in May 2021 as previously described. Non-Prior Service Applicants State Benefits: State Tuition Assistance is as stated in this video based on the first come first serve basis and I did state that State Tuition Assistance is State specific. Which I directed potential applicants to refer to this link in the description area: NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ and to sit down with their local Guard Recruiter to how it’s leveraged to their respective state. NONE! The GI Bill is what was created and offered to be leveraged and used to pay for Books, Application Fees and any other Educational Fees one could incur while attending College. You’re making it sound like the Reserve pays for books lol. 3 Response - As for transferring Reserve Soldiers to other states for unit of assignment as a choice or not, is false. I dated someone for a year and her Reserve unit transferred her from New York unit to Kansas and one thing you failed to mention is the Army Reserve will only reimburse you up to $500 in transportation costs (flight, bus, train, cab, etc… and up to the government rate for Hotel Rooms. The Guard has the same option for our Special Forces units in select states. Additionally, those reimbursements are also based on the funding and can be cut anytime. You’re not stuck in Guard or Reserve, both can execute transfers. In the Guard it’s called an Interstate Transfer and I did a full explanation and how to video guide here: NATIONAL GUARD INTERSTATE TRANSFER VIDEO GUIDE: ruclips.net/video/LQQ5VTfrTA0/видео.html Too easy and “NOT STUCK” contrary to popular belief from USAREC Recruiters. 4 Response - Yes, we are the oldest but honestly, that fact is sexy or a real flex. No one really cares who’s older. I agree with you that Guard Recruiters should not belittle other components of the US Army or other branches. That’s bad for business for anyone deciding to do that. I agree that to go AD they should simply go through an AD Recruiter. No need to take an additional step by joining the Guard if your original intent is to go AD. Now, if an applicant is hesitant in going AD out of fear they may not like it and be locked into a 2-4yr contract with no ability to put in your two week notice and quit or request to switch to Reserve, then using the Guard or Reserve as a stepping stone is a great idea. That fact is if you go AD, you cannot say I made a mistake, I wanna switch to and down grade to Reserve or Guard. You can and do have the ability to upgrade and go AD from Guard or Reserve. Not guaranteed to get approved but I did a Conditional Release video for Guard/Reserve to Active Duty video here: GUARD/RESERVE TO ACTIVE DUTY: ruclips.net/video/QWCfrIxVyHQ/видео.html I agree with you, MEPS is MEPS regardless of the component of the US Army or branch of service. That’s a fallacy! As for NG calling schools with the intent of scheduling events to then not show up is horrible and I’d recommend a CSM to CSM conversation needs to be conducted. I wouldn’t deal with that either and that definitely needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, we deal with the same thing in our area to include AD/Reserve Recruiters replacing our business cards with theirs in our NG Brochure holders or posters. These stupid immature games are annoying AF and unprofessional. At the end of the day I totally agree with your last statement in that Applicants should explore their options, research and ask bette questions. I did a video around this topic here: DON’T JOIN THE ARMY UNTIL YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST: ruclips.net/video/dVCY7tFWSLA/видео.html Stay blessed!
@@TEAMSWARTZ so to answer your 3rd point, the only way the army reserves can move you is if you choose to move for promotion or a unit disbands and you choose to stay in and take another assessment. Also the reimbursement rate is year to year with this year being $750 dollars. Thank you for the logical responses, civil talks are always best.
A High School Student that is attending JROTC… lol If you mean like, if you can earn rank upon enlistment? If so, 2yrs of JROTC will advance you to e2 and 3+ years will advance you to e3. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Given what trash the Reserves is turning, not because of the lower enlisted, into I highly suggest people go NG. 2 more years and I can wash my hands of the no integrity, no accountability, willful incompetence I've seen become the standard over the last 7-8 years.
Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼 This video wasn’t created to bash Reserve or AD but more of expressing my frustration in dealing with those types of recruiters while setting the record straight.
@@TEAMSWARTZ I understood that. But being in the reserves and having served next to NG from multiple states on multiple deployments the quality of leadership, Company cohesion, and soldier development and care is night and day. Just letting people know in this salty NCO's opinion NG is the way to go. It what I tell the younger soldiers in the Reserves once they hit the "WTF is this shitshow" wall after year one or two.
@@michaelmatthias9495 17 years of experience. 3 deployments where I worked with and under NG units and commands. So yeah in my experience there is a huge gulf between the AR and NG commands. In terms of knowledge, quality, leadership skills, and accountability. If you need an example of AR being trash simply look at the news on the 416th TEC. I can tell you what came out in the news articles was the tip of the iceberg. Apply their quality of behavior, over the sexual harassment and assaults, to just about every aspect of command. Soldiers having to file Congressionals to get: paid, travel expenses paid,, LODs done, TA done, gear issued, harassment stopped. Funding disappears for Units so they can't train but BN, BDE, and TEC always have money for hotels, travel etc. Hell most of their units haven't even had an FRG for decades. So yeah I've seen a huge difference.
Some military housing has opened to civilians or reservists like the Guard like here in Fort Hamilton in New York but if you are referring to free housing like being on Active Duty, No. As a part time Soldier you won’t have housing allowance or qualify for housing in base. You’re only working 2-3 days per month and 2-3 weeks per summer. If that was the case, I as a recruiter would never stop processing applicants because I’d have applicants lined up for more than a mile waiting to process lol. Hope that makes sense! Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Yes and that’s an exception, not the norm for they are a special case… Combat Arms units has extended drills often as well depending on their op tempo. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
So I was with you and on board for the first half of the video and then I had a little distrust and lost some credibility once we got into the positivity part of the video... but the answer to your question about how the Reserve offers more is when an applicant scores over 50 on the ASVAB, the Reserve will take your lunch money homie. Applicant scores over 50 they then have the ability to select 1 of 16 jobs that comes with 20K cash a 50K loan repayment that is good for any current loan debt they have or any loan taken out within their first 6 years in the Reserve additionally they get an extra 7200 on their GI bill. Soo $77,200 vs your $28,280 of state TA..... If the individual is 31-49 CAT B by all means I'll call a spade a spade and they NG is a better option for them to go to school. I'm not one for public math either but that looks like simple math. Second time you lost me was the super grimy recruiter response to how a weekend soldier would be more proficient at a given task. Tactical or technical training is not something that you can be better at because you are more motivated... keep that humble opinion to yourself. You titled your video debunk'd myths. You debunk myths with facts not your humble opinion which you did do flawlessly in your first two points providing factual information about where the funding comes from and how it works. I don't know how many times members of active units are called out to NG AT when they cannot observe their artillery rounds they are launching into God knows where then we have to come out and train them how to properly read a map. I know there are great units in the guard but they truly are few and far between and any unit in the 82d/101 or any of the other prestigious active units will run circles around them at any technical or tactical exercise.
Thank you for watching and taking the time with your response. My response to your Part One: Reserve most certainly does not take our LUNCH MONEY as you put it and if you truly think that you really need to sit down and reevaluate your product knowledge. That’s exactly the mindset I was addressing within this video and part of the problem with USAREC Recruiters. I am really hoping you’re a new Recruiter because you need to do better. Your Station Leader is failing you. 50%+ on ASVAB BONUS/Student Loan Repayment Program - Both Guard and Reserve have 15 critical skills (MOS’s) that are Bonus Eligible for up to a total of $20 Sign on Bonuses to include receiving up to $50k in prequalified, federal student loans, in their name, that are not in default and can be verified within the NSLDS website. Additionally the SRIP (is what we call it) but the policy has changed, you can no longer add new loans to your SLRP for new applicants who receive it. They reverted back to eligible Loans obtained on or before the contract date. GI Bill Kicker - Is also applied to Reserve and Guard members who qualify. Again, zero difference! I guess you didn’t understand that when I stated that when it comes to Federal Benefits, nothing is different between the Guard vs. Reserve. We are equals in this sense to Federal benefits in Reserve Components of the US Army. So to spell it out the National Guard receives the same amount in the GI Bill Kicker incentive up to the same amount as the Army Reserve. Non-Prior Service Applicant Federal Benefits for Guard/Reserve: *Correction on your part - The Federal Tuition has not always been eligible to be combined with the 1606 GI Bill. Which I directed potential applicants to refer to this link in the description area: NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ and to sit down with their local Guard Recruiter to how it’s leveraged to their respective state. NONE! The GI Bill is what was created and offered to be leveraged and used to pay for Books, Application Fees and any other Educational Fees one could incur while attending College. You’re making it sound like the Reserve pays for books lol. So you don’t like to do simple math in Public but If you read the above State Tuition Assistance here’s simple Math and I will use the NY Army National Guard in this Example: Army Reserve NPS Applicant Maximum Potential: $78,252 Army National Guard NPS Applicant Potential: $$85,322 (includes max State Tuition Assistance of $7,070 per year and a total of $28,280 over the course of four years of college in State Tuition Assistance) Simpler MATH: Army Reserve FTA = $4k per year Army National Guard FTA & STA = $11,070 per year That’s $7,070 more than a Reservist leveraging the Federal TA… www.DUH.com that the National Guard is the better bet to maximize their total monetary gains for paying college expenses hands down. You cannot and will never “WIN” this argument. Ever! My Response to your Part Two: I will agree that if training to standard and doing it full time will make one more proficient due to repetition. I can’t argue that! I could have done a better job at delivering the intent of what I was attempting to drive home. The point I was driving home was that when we do train whether Guard or Reserve, we train to the Standard with not cutting of corners. Google the 10th Mountain in 2002 where an AD Unit killed several of their troops eating at their mobile kitchen nearby the Observation point in Fort Drum. I mentioned my story in dealing with the same AD 10th Mt Div Unit that accidentally sent a round down range that went off approximately 50m from our own OP and attempted to blame us for the mistake but we had already radio’d back to Range Control we went Cold and finished for the day over 30min prior. So whether you’re Guard or Reserve, we both have bad apples. Which is why it is our responsibility to deliver and enforce training to the standard. I will share my opinion if I choose to do and I often don’t. Just as you shared your inaccurate opinion based on false information to Reserve being a better option for Education purposes. Your Opinion is horrible in that example…
@@TEAMSWARTZ in a Reserve enlistees' DA Form 5261-R-4 (student loan repayment addendum) section V (entitlement) part 2 reads verbatum: "2. In addition, qualifying educational loan(s) made by me while a member of the Selected Reserve during this contractual term of service also be repaid in part under this incentive." I know this is mind boggling because something you found on the Army's website isn't factual. If you would like a copy of this form I would be happy to send it. Had the same discussion with NG recruiters in my AO saying we were promising false benefits but when it's in black and white in a Soldiers contract it's hard to argue. They thought the exact same thing you thought because for whatever reason, I don't know why, that incentive is different for NG and USAR soldiers.
@@joeshambaugh2389 Nah, it’s not uncommon for things to vary from Guard to Reserve. Each component and add to or take away. For example: it’s not uncommon for reserve to restrict SLRP to $35k or less which happens often for Reserve for some odd reason but we’ve always cover up to $50k. I’ll look for into what you’ve shared and always welcome correct or up to date info. Trust but always verify right???? You understand I’m sure.
@@TEAMSWARTZ yea no doubt and I seen the intent behind the video it was going smooth until you tried to do the same thing you are trying to combat your Active and Reserve counterparts with. We all just need to do our due diligence. There is no reason to bash one branch over another if a kid commits to Active congratulate them and wish them luck on their journey. If a kid goes NG or AR congratulate them and wish them the best. The problem is we conduct our interviews and don't provide facts just our humble or not so humble opinion on one branch or another. I am not a NG recruiter I don't talk about NG benefits, how they are funded, how well they are trained, etc.. but if someone is giving their opinion on my formation I am liable to give my opinion back. The best thing we can all do is train up on our own programs and conduct the best interviews we can so the applicant can make the best informed decision, then when a kid asks about another branch and how they operate don't claim to be a professional and recommend they go talk to that branch recruiter. That's how we build the local relationship as well!
Go alone and you’ll go fast. Go together and you’ll go further. The quicker we learn to work together the greater the results we’ll have at everything we do. It’s not a competition and I get some people handle pressure and stress differently. I get that. Desperate people do desperate things and some people just don’t care. There’s not so good recruiters in all branches but hopefully it gets better. In my opinion, in my 17yrs of experience as a Recruiter thus far… it has gotten better over the years. We’re still a work in progress. Keep up the hard work! See you at the Top!
We get so caught up on complex things we forget the simple things. You’re perfectly normal! Good Luck in MEPS and may the MEPS Gods forever, be in your favor! 💯
For sure! I’m tired of getting DM’s about the same stuff I addressed in this video. I’m tired of applicants who seek me out to join and show me the texts that Army Reserve/AD Recruiter is talking trash about the Guard and that only the Reserve pays 100% for Tuition Assistance… It’s super annoying and that contributes to Recruiters getting bad perceptions. It’s a horrible idea to lie and best for the applicant to sit down with the subject matter expert for each respective component of the army or branch of service. You know? Lol
@@TEAMSWARTZ I get it, you’re 100% right! Unfortunately the bad apples that lie to their applicants may not only give recruiters a bad light but also the Army in general as well. I’ve met a lot of people who were bsed by their recruiter into joining reserves or active for things that I would explain not even to be true. I made sure to watch plenty of Team Swartz videos and did my research before joining. I advise everyone to do the same. I really hope there could be some sort of change in the future, for the better of the army and the military in general. We need to get the right people for the right branch/component
I don't know who told you that or how naive one can really be Google is literally at your fingertips and a simple search could have informed the ignorant. If that's the case, your Recruiter failed you and you failed yourself for not even doing a simple online search. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼
I have deployed twice with 2 ng units from 2 different states. . I’m active duty. Did I like deploying with them and them on mission with us. Not at all. But they do deploy. They were cool in all but just the knowledge level and operating level wasn’t all there man. But they also had incompetent ncos as well. But some guard units do have some good guys that I witness in Texas ng and Indiana. They were active duty before so I’m sure they brought that morale and structure and leadership qualities to the guard which is good

As you can see in the comment sections I hear nothing but 🦗’s and the silence from USAREC Recruiters is deafening! Your turn!

Haha
Nothing but facts in this video but any component of the Army or branch of service are all excellent options in their own right.

Now folks ask me, "SSG, what would you have done different?"
To that my answer is I wouldn't have been so loyal to my unit.
I did a video on that here:
RSP/RECRUIT SUSTAINMENT PROGRAM: ruclips.net/video/Cgu4fQW1_Fw/видео.html
It’s mandatory to attend one weekend per month until you ship to training.

Is there anyway to avoid federal deployment if single and with kids?
Or at the very least no more than 6 months
Deployment makes it incredibly hard for me to make a decision.
I do plan on using my college benefits as well, but mainly it is about my son
I'd love you for a response
Deployments can be and usually 9-12mo but closer to 12mo in majority of the cases. Occasionally they’re 6mo but I wouldn’t hold your breath. You may or may never be deployed but plan on it at some point. It’s a risk that we all inherit when we enlist. If you’re not comfortable knowing this, it’s not a viable option for you unfortunately.

I got an initial bonus for my MOS as an M-Day Soldier back in 2001 but like you, no bonuses after that. They just started to issue bonuses to AGR Recruiters a couple years back but of course I am over the time in service restriction to qualify lol. Now I don’t volunteer for state orders only if it’s mandatory.
Other than that I love it 👌🏼
Sounds like you have a relatively new admin making big mistakes or improperly trained. Idk but that’s unsat. The Army National Guard is a much better option than the Reserve. It’s so incredibly clear.
Lol
As for unbiased comparison videos, I did one here:
GUARD vs RESERVE/SIMILARITIES+DIFFERENCES VIDEO: ruclips.net/video/tiMVDM6FzRY/видео.html
I’d like for you to watch it but fair warning, it’s 52min but we’ll worth the watch time.
It’s not first come first serve for reserve to get tuition either. Bro at least at a minimum fact check what you saying
Facts! Plain ‘n Simple…
I’ll break it down Barney Style:
Federal Tuition Assistance = $4k per year or up to $250 per credit for up to 16 credits.
Student Loan Repayment Program of up to $50k in eligible student loans
TOTAL AMOUNT POTENTIAL for both Guard & Reserve is the same (Including all above at max benefit) $78,252. Not $77,200.

Non-Prior Service Applicants State Benefits:
State Tuition Assistance is as stated in this video based on the first come first serve basis and I did state that State Tuition Assistance is State specific.

NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/
Plug in your state and chat with your local recruiter to find out the specifics to MA State Tuition. Reservists don't qualify for State TA because they are strictly Federal. Guard is State & Federal as i describe in all our videos and explained on our Official website: www.NationalGuard.com
If you care more about having more than $4k per year in Tuition Assistance, Go Guard but understand we have a larger purpose and responsibility to our State in combination to our Federal Missions. Reservists only have to do their one weekend per month Drills unless called upon and activated for overseas or federal missions but the downside is less Tuition Assistance.
The choice and compromise is and always will be yours. Weigh out what's more important to you and choose from there. I did a video I thing you will find useful in applying these tips here: DON’T JOIN THE ARMY UNTIL YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST: ruclips.net/video/dVCY7tFWSLA/видео.html
Understand that some state missions like the bus driving in MA, will only apply to soldiers with an applicable drivers license that authorizes buses and other specific vehicle. 🇺🇸🙏🏼
Lol when I was a detail recruiter the guard dudes in my area snagged up so many kids by telling them they had to go guard before they could go active.

@@JoseRodriguez-kw9ez Thank you very much!
If that’s the case, you won’t be able to use any benefits period but you’ll be required to do an IST or Interstate Transfer and I did a video on that here: NATIONAL GUARD INTERSTATE TRANSFER VIDEO GUIDE: ruclips.net/video/LQQ5VTfrTA0/видео.html
If you don’t transfer, whether you go Guard or Reserve we both provide the Federal TA and the Scholarship Program referred to the 1606 Select Reserve Montgomery GI Bill.

That’s refreshing to hear and thanks for watching!
Could you specify? Army budget gets approved at the beginning of the year and TA is factored in that, soooo how has it been suspended?
My Brother was in the Guard . But went active but before becoming active he said he got all the New shit . M-14'S and other stuff. He said at the end though they gave them a CAVALRY COMMAND in IRAQ so they were part of OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. BUT HE WAS SENT BACK FOR KATRINA only to go back TO IRAQI 🤷💙
Thanks for sharing!
For real. you should do your first contract (3 Years) on active duty. Then you will receive 100% of the GI Bill
Oh oh there is that knife hand. musket dang those are old.
Lol
@Team Swartz can you do one for glossary non Prior service

@@yusifuto If they’re back to 100% and have supporting medical documentation, Yes. Otherwise, No. the waiver then would get deniedZ
Edit on 3: you also pick your reserve duty station before you enlist. 100% you will know your unit and where it is before you enlist.
Non-Prior Service Applicants State Benefits:
State Tuition Assistance is as stated in this video based on the first come first serve basis and I did state that State Tuition Assistance is State specific. Which I directed potential applicants to refer to this link in the description area: NATIONAL GUARD STATE TUITION GUIDE FOR EACH STATE LINK: state.nationalguard.com/ and to sit down with their local Guard Recruiter to how it’s leveraged to their respective state.
Not guaranteed to get approved but I did a Conditional Release video for Guard/Reserve to Active Duty video here: GUARD/RESERVE TO ACTIVE DUTY: ruclips.net/video/QWCfrIxVyHQ/видео.html
I agree with you, MEPS is MEPS regardless of the component of the US Army or branch of service.
I did a video around this topic here: DON’T JOIN THE ARMY UNTIL YOU WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST: ruclips.net/video/dVCY7tFWSLA/видео.html
Stay blessed!
Facts!!! I never doubted that and same for the Guard.

Haha I hear ya!!!

My response to your Part One:
Reserve most certainly does not take our LUNCH MONEY as you put it and if you truly think that you really need to sit down and reevaluate your product knowledge.

So you don’t like to do simple math in Public but If you read the above State Tuition Assistance here’s simple Math and I will use the NY Army National Guard in this Example:
Army Reserve NPS Applicant Maximum Potential: $78,252
Army National Guard NPS Applicant Potential: $$85,322
(includes max State Tuition Assistance of $7,070 per year and a total of $28,280 over the course of four years of college in State Tuition Assistance)
Simpler MATH:
Army Reserve FTA = $4k per year
Army National Guard FTA & STA = $11,070 per year
That’s $7,070 more than a Reservist leveraging the Federal TA… www.DUH.com that the National Guard is the better bet to maximize their total monetary gains for paying college expenses hands down. You cannot and will never “WIN” this argument. Ever!
My Response to your Part Two:
I will agree that if training to standard and doing it full time will make one more proficient due to repetition.

I know this is mind boggling because something you found on the Army's website isn't factual. If you would like a copy of this form I would be happy to send it. Had the same discussion with NG recruiters in my AO saying we were promising false benefits but when it's in black and white in a Soldiers contract it's hard to argue. @@joeshambaugh2389 Nah, it’s not uncommon for things to vary from Guard to Reserve. Each component and add to or take away.
