I had zero plan for this song. I recorded the entire thing in one go, and only removed 2 bad note hits and fixed 1 timing issue.
I have a window above my keyboard and I decided to open it up. Outside I saw a light gray sky. It was showering delicately onto the tall pines swaying in the wind. My eyes were looking out at this sight for half the time I was writing this song... I think I found a new method :)
I tried to come up with a way to add vocals or strings but they all seemed too... full... too rich... so I wrote only a piano part, thus having the same twinkling beauty of space.

I haven't watched pone in years and I thought I'd lost this song, my absolute favorite to come out of the fandom. I kept searching for it but for some reason RUclips wouldn't bring it up. Then one day someone posted it in Discord out of the blue. I teared up listening to it again for the first time in years. So simple yet so beautiful.
This video is played on the mlp livestreaming marathons every saturday on synchtube. It is the first video played when the playlist restarts from the most recent episode back to the beginning of season 1. Every time I hear this music I get extreme nostalgia from when I used to wake up really early to watch two or three more episodes without anyone knowing. Back when I couldn't figure out how I liked a show for little girls.
The idea that space is an endless field of mysteries and questions that have been unanswered has always been a driving factor in my aspiration to become a scientist in the astronomy field. Every time I look up at the starry night sky I think, "What exactly is out there and when will we humans reach it?" I absolutely love this song. Keep up the fantastic work.

Okay, so I know I already commented, but I just can't get over how insanely beautiful this piece of music is. It's chilling, it's emotional, and it's uplifting. And it puts me at ease...Last night I had a fever and I was having those nasty hallucinations you get when you have a fever in the middle of the night, but I had downloaded this song to my iPod (for personal use - I'm not sharing the song behind your back or anything!) and listening to this song really calmed me down. So thank you!

That was beautiful. My mom asked what that music was (from the other room), and I said that it was an original piece of music that someone wrote because they were inspired by "that show I've been talking about". She seemed wordlessly impressed.
This is currently my absolute favourite piece of music, and that's not going to change for a while. I listen to your music while I sleep, it's so unbelievably beautiful :' )
Stilling coming back to this all these years later. Feels like yesterday that I discovered it and so many other wonderful songs. This fandom made my last years so much better then they otherwise would have been.

@themeowingfox It's called the Horse Head Nebula. It's a random assortment of star nersuries which we name after what we think they look like. The Images(the farther you look) are more in the past. So I think if we try and go to this place it would be gone. I also think this is where Equestria is hidden. :)

for those who dont understand the image or the text in the describtion,Twilight sparkle looks at the Horsehead Nebula.
TBH, I find songs like this excellent when typing fanfiction. This song allows me to really picture the night sky, or even space, well enough to describe it. It's still light out right now here in Arizona, and the sun won't set for another hour or so, but gentle songs like this really capture what stargazing is like.
The only song that I know that has the same feel is "Arrival", from the Halo 3 OST.

@sdoggingsworth Trust me, if I could get my hands on the Garageband Jam Packs for free, I'd be all over it. I'm actually using the standard Garageband piano emulator but I changed the EQ and reverb settings to give it a more steinway-esque sound. Plus the soundfonts in the link actually come with a stereo steinway piano, I just decided not to use it because it was too soft.

Are the soundfonts you posted a link to the same as the Orchestra expansion pack? Sounds like you used the Steinway Piano that Garage Band orchestra expansion pack comes with with a little bit of reverb. I'm working from an older version of Garage Band but it's hard to tell. I'm really curious what you used. It sounds awesome.
