One difference not mentioned is that the binocular overlap on the 3S is way better than it is on the 3. So the 3D effect will appear over a wider area of your view on the 3S. It's the biggest issue i have with the 3.
I had the Quest 2. I used it to work out. The Quest 3 is amazing! There is an absolute difference in the visuals. I recommend the silicone face interface. Also the knuckle straps. I've been using them both for a year and they show little signs of wear. The knuckle straps and the interface are $40 each. The accessories can get expensive. But not as expensive as the murphy bed I built for extra space to play.
I had no idea about the lack of headphone jack. That is kind of massive tbh. Bluetooth at least on the Quest 2 had left a lot to be desired in terms of latency and stuff.
Yeah no headphone jack - one other thing I forgot to mention is that it doesn't have the presence sensor on the inside that puts it into standby when its taken off.
It's really not a big deal at all. I own every Quest released (including the Q3 and 3S). You're correct that the stock audio on Quest 2 was horrible, but the stock audio on Quest 3 and 3S is perfectly fine. 3rd parties released a ton of audio solutions for Quest 2, but there are only a few options for Q3 because stock audio works so well. If someone wants a headset with a headphone jack the Quest 3 has one. If you prefer wireless, a few manufacturers make Bluetooth earbuds specifically made for Quest that include a USB-C dongle (for low latency) that allows you to charge the headset simultaneously. I can't vouch for them, but PrismXR makes a very popular set named Vega that is highly rated. But the stock audio on Quest 3 and 3S is very good and usable.
There new product has level four cache that allows for collimated monochromatic wavefront propagation. That is why you can fly now for real when it’s on. If you confuse a bird, don’t worry. They are nice.

Heres a good difference. The quest 2, i could play for about an hour and have to take a long break. Just this evening on the regular 3? I sat on the back porch, and watched the entire extended hobbit 1 mvc mkv 3d, while my feet are in a foot sauna. Roughly 3 hours, and could still go. 'now i had to use a usb c hub with a battery bank, plus a DAC.' All I want now, is a micro OLED quest. Id pay apple vision pro prices for that.
Once you go to pancake lenses, you can never go back to fresnel lenses, the Quest 3 for me, a good battery strap is a must have accessory for the Quest 3 if you want more battery life on the headset, especially if you play a lot of games
It's 400 dollars Canadian(assuming black Friday sales probably cheaper) which makes a lot more sense than 680 Canadian dollars for the Quest 3, to put in bluntly that was just stupid. To put these prices in perspective, a PS5 with disc drive in Canada is 650 dollars. This new head set is going to sell a lot better.
“Intrapupillary distance”. I interestingly, with the Q3, the horizontal IP distance settings never affected focus, but moving the headset a little up or down greatly affects the focus for me.
Lon if I understood you correctly you said the Quest 3 with 128 gb was 499.99 but it's been reduced to 429.99 and the Quest 3 with 512 Gb is 499.99 which down from 649.99 is the better deal. Wish it was this price when I was making my decision as I have the Quest 3 128 gb. Though I did get it for the 429.99 on sale. Though the 512gb was still at 649.99 when I bought my Quest 3. If I was buying one now I would buy the 512gb model for all that extra storage. I could be wrong but I believe these numbers are right the Quest 3 128 gb is 429.99 right now.
@@CantankerousDave It's like the hard drive on a computer. It's where are your games or whatever is on your quest 3 is stored. If you don't store them on your storage you will have to download them anytime you would want to play them. For me and the games and app I play and or use 128gb is great but they say the games will get bigger in the future. More storage space the more you can store. Most people 128gb will be fine.
Prices change all the time - this is why I hate mentioning prices in the videos. When I recorded the video it was $499 but it looks like there's a sale going on.
I think for people who already have a gaming pc the pico 4 headset is a much better deal, shame it wasn't mentioned... It has the same image quality as the higher end quest 3 without the better processor so it's great if you dont care about standalone stuff
Can you elaborate on if 128GB is enough storage? How is that storage used and how much is available out of the box? If we play Steam games, I assume that wouldn't use much if any storage.
@@CF542 128gb is plenty , you can have 2 - 3 big AAA games on it plus 4 smaller ones or so . Imo install a couple of games and Finnish then off before you download more from your library otherwise you will tend to not Finnish any of them .
Do any retailers offer a live demo unit to try out. I've got eye issues some of which were fixed by cataract surgery last year but I'm concerned about dropping this kind of money especially with the crackdown on returns that's underway.
Most likely an effort to get people to watch the video until the end whereas many people would stop watching once the supporter roll began. Helps increase the engagement algorithm for RUclips.

Pretty sure you can use the usb c for headphones. Can definitely do Bluetooth headphones if you want as well
Just got a quest 3 last week. Coming from a Quest 2. The 2 I could only play for 30 minutes to an hour. The 3 I can keep on for however long I want!

I think they found the Quest 2 was selling surprisingly well during the holidays last year. So this should be pretty popular for this holiday.

Hi there, Lon! I have a question. Is this VR headset compatible with SteamVR, and is it capable of running VRChat?
yes as mentioned

OK.

Credits are now integrated into the beginning - credit rolls were adding over 1:30 to the videos so they work better as an integration.
Is this good for streaming movies as well?
yes there are some good apps for that on the Quest platform and others.

Let’s get real here, schools and institutions aren’t buying these because it’s unsanitary to share these with random strangers.😂😂😂
All commercial operators will have interchangeable (or even disposable) face covers for hygiene reasons. Virtually all VR experience shops have them.
