I highly recommend you disconnect the track pad cable rather than trying to just slide the battery underneath it!! It is incredibly easy to disconnect! If you instead try to slide the battery out like in the video there is a great chance you will tear the track pad cable. I’m here writing this comment cause my dad followed these instructions and did just that! Just take the few seconds and do it right! You already have the rest of the stuff dissembled, why cut corners at the most delicate part of the process?? Conversely, the suggestion at 2:01 to remove those two screws “that are securing the battery to the MacBook” is completely wrong! Those screws DO NOT attach the battery to the MacBook! They only serve to hold that chip to the batteries! Removing them is pointless! You can see as he removes the battery that there are no holes underneath in the MacBook for them to even go into. It is literally pointless to remove them. Use the time from this step to instead disconnect the trackpad cable!
Thanks for the tutorial! I was able to bring a dead Macbook Air back to life after changing out the battery. I didn't have much luck doing the spinning thing for the stretchy tape, I had more luck just gently pulling with my fingers and using even pressure. Thank you!
Not sure if it's already been said but there are additional pull tabs at the top of the speakers in between logic board and speaker.. You can reach them with tweezers.
Thanks for the very clear "how to". This, combined with my experience changing the battery on an older MacbookAir gave me the confidence to attempt this one. But I quickly realized this model requires more experience than I have. After opening up the back and attempting to remove the right speaker, I decided I'd likely trash my MacBookAir. It seems very easy to break things in there. So I closed it up and took it to an Apple Approved repair center.
Be very careful folks with the thin black trackpad cable (3:30 in the video), it is super easy to damage as you try to remove the battery from the laptop. If it gets sliced, the keyboard/trackpad won't work.
hi brian , i accidentally sliced that flex cable and now my keyboard is not working. is it true that if I replace the flex cable with a new one, my keyboard works again?
@@Heyynovan Yes, it’s fixable. I broke mine too. You can order a replacement cable but it is a tricky repair. I took mine to a shop and they fixed that problem and also the speaker cables that I damaged too for $200.
My battery is held down with T4 - (not T5) screws. Be careful which battery you buy because mine came with only a T5 screwdriver. Had to run to my shop for a T4 to get the battery loose. Otherwise, spot on. A1932 MacBook 13".
There are two ways that the battery can slide under that ribbon cable, one way is a lot tighter than the other, be real careful, if you do pull on the ribbon cable too much, it actually gets pulls out - the end of it is a connector underneath the mouse track pad. You can get underneath it and push it back in, but its a real pain to get to it.
Why didn't you replace the tabs/ribbons you twisted up? Not sure where you added the two-sided tape. (Tip: consider working on a towel. Screws will not slide or get lost.)
Ok for the removing the 2 T-5 screws I have a T-5 star shaped screwdriver and it’s not working so what am I supposed to do because I didn’t buy a replacement battery and a screwdriver set specifically for this for nothing
Thank you, but. Thanks for this tutorial. I have mostly used i-fix-it with confidence but they have you disconnecting EVERYTHING and removing the logic board just to replace a battery. Then I get down to the end and one logic board screw won't come out! Stripped or something. So I went searching and found this. I've been fixing Macs for a decade or more and could not believe this process. Here comes the but..... I also trashed my trackpad cable. I did have it disconnected from the logic board as part of the i-fix-it steps, but enough of the adhesive strips failed to come out cleanly that it took effort to free the battery and it destroyed the cable. So, people, be careful.
this is not the correct way to replace the battery you can easily damage the cables and he also did not reinstall the battery stickers underneath do not trust this guys videos it can cause catastrophic damage to your computer
Hi there! I managed to change the battery successfully but now my keyboard in the macbook air isn’t working. I may have unknowingly loosened a connection. Where is the keyboard connection in the macbook air? Any other suggestions?
The trackpad cable (the thin piece that goes over the new battery) doesn’t seem to be broken. The trackpad is still working. Do I need to check that connection somewhere/somehow?
After changing the battery, my macbook air is still slow. And the system says it’s not charging. (Context: its fresh from the box and our battery says replace now) Is possible that the logic board is damage from the start?
I was told that I needed to replace the battery on my Macbook A1932 (2018). They want to charge me $170 for this job. Maybe I can replace the battery myself..
Good Tutorial. But, I noticed you do NOT mention you have removed the two screws and bracket from the top of the TrackPad connector before attempting to remove the battery. From 2:13 to 2:19 they are detached. As several people have problems with the battery removal, I am assuming the extra 'play' helps. Your Trackpad replacement video shows the removal of the clip. ruclips.net/video/KtAlThEtoDk/видео.html. Hope that helps someone. Anyway apart from that a good clear tutorial - Well done.

I broke mine. I suggest for these DIY videos, they should encourage the removal of the trackpad cable in order to reduce the risk of breaking it

Perfect, you help me too much. Thank you my friend.❤
Great video. Mission accomplished
Thank you for the video. This worked perfectly for me!!!
Great video wish you’d of placed more time on getting battery cable detached
Great Video, but shouldn't you add the 3 adhesive strips under the left and right battery after testing that the battery is charging properly?
thank you very much, it's my first time changing a battery on a macbook and it worked very well :))
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the walkthru - what is the brand of the tools that use?
How mac still is the industry standard in the creative industry beats me....
Why?

Great video thanks. It was perfect to me.
I literally just got my first ever macbook air 2019 , and when i just used my charger it literally just said “ replace now “ i got so frustrated
same exact thing happened to me. I didnt use it for a year because i got trapped abroad by covid. warranty is over

Is it hard to remove the trackpad cable? It makes me nervous when you try to slide the battery through the cable.

check to see if its a bad charger or outlet first, if its completely dead still then the battery probably needs to be replaced
