Some Russian wrote Leva, because they didn't understand it's a name with big i letter (capital i, so I -not L).
It doesn't say if he is drinking or not. It just tells he takes Ieva to dance, and wants to marry her.
They go to the neighbour's house to dance, not to marry yet. They dance polka, that what he sings about, and in the end he swears he will marry Ieva, no matter what. Because her mother doesn't like the idea.
i am from Indonesia. My daughter 7 and 8 years old doesnt know the meaning of this song at all, even a single word of it, but they love this song so much.

For anyone wondering , this song is talking about a boy who takes a girl, Ieva, to a dance. Ieva's mother doesn't want her to go, but eventually, she and the boy sneak out. After the dancing, they hook up. They go back home and Ieva's mother is mad and Ieva starts crying. The song ends basically with the boy telling the mom he loves Ieva and will not give her up. I basically stole this comment from someone who basically stole this comment from another Ievan Polka video in which the comment writer basically stole the comment from another Ieva Polka video
