I use Q-Tips myself. Once the get dirty, you can actually start using them on their own to put light shading down rather than just using them to smudge. Never use fingers.
Hi, a novice drawer here. I always try these "speed drawings" out of my free time, but I can never get much done in 6 hours. May I ask if you pace yourself during these sessions? Or do you just generally complete these in such short time. A reply would be greatly appreciated

I also heard putting tacs under your toe nails and kicking a wall helps as well. You should try it out!
