      yep they did, and there was a knight-only free time training before tournaments to climb a really high ladder using only hands (hanging from it) to the castle walls, as flex and show of strength, so ye, maybe medieval people was shorter then we are right now, but the sure thing they where strong as hell

    There is even more. I have some time ago started walking with a weighted backpack. This is called rucking and is essentially what army soldiers do during training to improve their overall fitness and aerobic capacity.
    Over months of regular daily walks I would monitor my heart rate and slowly increase my pace and load to keep my heart rate around my target. My fitness improved to the point where walking with a backpack was less taxing than walking without it before I started my training.
    When the weight reached 45 pounds it became painful to walk due to uneven pressure on some parts of my body. I changed the backpack to a weighted vest of the same weight. But now thanks to this vest being *around* my trunk rather than on my back, it became very easy for me to walk around.
    I can confidently say that people who wore these contraptions would not have any problem moving around due to weight alone, as long as they also spend enough time each day training in them. Your body can adjust to the load, you learn to move in new ways that take the added load into account and all your muscles, tendons and joints strengthen to withstand it as well as your cardiovascular, aerobic and endurance.

      High impact jumping could damage your knees, but you'd be retarded to think jumping down even a 3ft elevation would be ok. As long as you are avoiding the high impact on your knees, you are good. You will actually increase bone density as well as muscle strength. Pressure on those tissues triggers them to strengthen.
      You should google "weight training bines vs normal bones" and typically you can find some pictures. They are thicker and more dense. Its like looking at a piece of wood vs a piece of rock.

      In the 15th and 16th century (gothic and renaisance) the plate armor was the most active, but sadly, either you have to be rich enough to afford it ( horse, armor, weapons, clothes under the armor, saddle etc) and that price is equal to modern tank (with different currency, but still a tank) your other option to get it is to loot. The best armory was in german territories (holy roman empire) and italian states. But id recomend for your fattas the italian, since german required for you to be unaturaly slim. They did this by having a certain thing on them. They were still mobile (i believe terrifingly even more so) but german knights had to make themself slim by wearing a piece of clothing that would be later used by women from 18th century to 1930's.

      the idea of armoured knights being slow and cumbersome is due to the fact that at the time they were described that way because they were slow and cumbersome... compared to unarmoured soldiers. It's only relatively recently, with experimental archeology and whatnot, that we realized this.

      True, but generally being able to move is better. Especially in "walking dead" type universes. Of course this vid proves that to not be the case, but stereotypes
      And honestly, given how deaf these characters are, i think armour is the least of their priorities.
      Like, in no mainstream universe have I seen quiet zombies and they somehow sneak up on people.
      Regardless, characters have to be able to move quickly at a moment's notice, and because "armour makes you slow" (at least by their universes logic) it's better to keep light to avoid the horde

      You have a point but one thing you forgot to mention is that armor is noisy so sneaking around can be difficult but what I’m talking about is when someone staying in the base defending... and some survivors or “base members” are coming back with a horde chasing them. So if you put it this way:
      Ten armored men with automatic fire mode on or single fire for ammo saving.. encounter a horde coming from obviously one side. And the defenders attack!! The defenders will eventually reload and lose sight of some the undead in the horde... so if they lost sight of the horde then they might get attacked from behind.... depending on the structure and how the zombies can get in so maybe zombies will crawl from holes or tunnels and get behind the defender and since the defender can’t hear anything and maybe one of their own men dies without noticing anything!! So I would say armor is for a “scenario” that has a 17% chance of occurring once each raid... then armor is there for that scenario.
      But scouting is best without armor ( like you said you need best mobility possible)

It wasn't as fancy as the stuff this guy was wearing either but it would have weighed roughly the same. So yeah, the guys who are used to wearing that armor could move pretty well in it.

    • @thedudeamongmengs2051
      @thedudeamongmengs2051 4 года назад +195

      Not really. Most people in wars didn't have much armor or if they did, it was very light compared to plate armor. It wouldve been something more like a very thick jacket, chain mail, or a thick jacket plus some metal parts in certain areas. An entire army of knights wearing full plate armor wouldve just been impossible in most circumstances. It would sound more like a lot of screams and banging against wood because metal was just too expensive to armor everyone
