Why are you doing a comparison at 240p? That's a useless comparison it's hard to even see the differences really.

Maleficent's face is green, her staff is olive green, and the ball on her staff is the same yellow as her eyes. These are the correct colors as seen in the 2003 version.
In the 2008 version, her staff changes to orange on raven close ups, the ball is orange-yellow, and her face is blue. AND, her eyes suddenly change to white at 1:52. I bought the blu-ray disc, but I never watch it, because the colors are screwy.

I totally agree. They are trying to make it look like they "restored" it but they totally ruin the color pallete. What makes Sleeping beauty so beautiful is it's dark mysterious Middle Ages look and all the Green undertones. And with the 2008 version, it looks very washed out and it doesn't have the rich enchanted green color.

Good point, although the 2003 version is more cropped than the 2008 version...

No, They only changed the voices on the commercial not the actual movie itself.

The bluray version is stunning! Really, if you have a bluray-player in your posession, that movie is just increbly beautiful on Bluray

Thanks, you just saved me money with this comparison. I have the 2003 DVD and now see I don't need the 2008, too. :D

I liked the widescreen aspect of it, but the newer one is waay too bright.
Sleeping Beauty is meant to look dark and gothic.
It's not supposed to look like the Little Mermaid, or anything. :P

@tlrmcknnn But since Lowry are the most respected video restoration company in the world, and given that they use an unprecedented back catalog of original artwork and documents from production, there is no reason to believe that the 2008 version is inferior. It even reveals artwork that was otherwise impossible to see in the 2003 version.
Everyone time and time again is getting confused with the colour timing. The 2008 Lowry restoration was scanned from the original RGB camera negative.

You should always watch the VHS version as much as possible BECAUSE the VHS has HI-FI which makes maleficent sound more scary and the audio sounds more realistic because the volume changes on it's own.
