Same with equipment, still useing Hueys, Apaches, etc. However Marines are known to be far more aggressive/trained than regular Army, hence "coming in first".

@jeebuzcrust that is an assumption. When I was in IRAQ, in the Army, we took over a patrol base from the Marines. They were living a lot like this thinking it was Ruff, raw and hardcore. However several of them had dysentery if not most, but some were so sick they had to be pulled out. We took the same place and cleaned it up. Coming up with systems for human waste, trash and cooking food in cleaner fashion than they had set up. It took a lot of work because of how shitty they had the place. I remember working from 5 in morning to 1 in morning some days. That is almost 20 plus hours of work a day when we first got there to get that place in shape after the Marines. Nandadulal Das it never will be
Ye
Crazy how time flies man
Youre kinda right? Afghanistan does not have an offensive support from American ground troops. All remaining 12000 troops (Which is a vastly smaller number now than at the time of this documentary) are held up in large bases much more fortified than what you see in here. The Americans there today are really there for base protection and coordinating with the Afghan govt/military. Much logistical support is still be supplied to the Afghan govt (in the form of $$$). But overall the only Americans that are going about are SF.
Chris Flannagan afghanistan needs more serious people in charge look at national police all doped out they have drugs in backyards basically they are behind time they live 100 years behind if not more

The Marines aren’t known for their fine cuisine and luxury accommodations, what is he even talking about.
The airforce
@Michael Jarrett Plenty of Army Infantry units in RC East would have loved to have had these living conditions compared to what they had...you're an idiot, lol.
N B he’s comparing the British and Americans but yea I agree
thats the airforce
@Michael Jarrett holy shit you fucking killed him dude
The British commandos were probably talking about the the Air Force living conditions.

SabotSolvesEverything As well as combat.
SSE. Seeing as anyone with an education can view foreign politics and affairs. being educated and informed is simple enough.or are you saying no one iis that educated. As for TWS's comment. A lot of people who comment on these kind of video's have combat experiance. Do you?
@@okbutthenagain.9402 I believe he was referring to the people that say the Americans are as bad as the Taliban, and the armchair tacticians who think they know better than the soldiers on the ground how to do things. Not that people who do know the actual politics of the regions, and actual combat veterans do not exist in these comment threads, but that there are many blowhards who would have you think they were worth their salt.

"Do not repeat what the Russians did here."
Too late.
Soviet (not russian) occupation was just...brutal. rape, looting, pillaging. US occupation is a far cry.
I think he meant by invading
"We arranged for them to go on patrol with us, this morning, all 40 agreed, and only 5 showed up on time. And guess what? There are more showing up, late, but none of them will listen, because their commander is asleep."
This is what's gonna happen after we leave, so WHY ARE WE STILL THERE WASTING MONEY? Fu`k em'
Just like we can't help China, until the Chinese people decide to do something, we can't help Afganistahn, until the people of the country really want change, and they obviously don't care. They want a 1st world power to hold their hand, and IDK why we are doing it.
@Marc Kunze Every empire conquered Afghanistan before they left and it returned to a pile of rocks
@Marc Kunze US military barely had any control 10mi out of Kabul. You're delusional if you think otherwise. We will eventually leave and Afghanistan will still be a pile of rocks.
This really is brilliantly informative
@30:51
that man is going to kill someone, and not necessarily the enemy.
Just after that, "These aren't skills" .. just leave it at that > .
No trigger discipline...
Marines always get seconds. But they finish first.
thats very sugestive...
So going to convey what our friend failed to say,
Marines are a department of the Navy, therefore they get "hand me downs" and not as much funding (i.e what's the point in having two "Armies") its slighty shown in when they don't have shit bags and adequate ammounts of cots. Same with equipment, still useing Hueys, Apaches, etc. However Marines are known to be far more aggressive/trained than regular Army, hence "coming in first".
Legend says he’s still running back and forth

try navy and air force partner. manas and bahgram
He never said awesome. He said better. Basically these guys were being lazy and not taking care of themselves. He was pointing that out to the commander who just blew it off.
@@xObscureMars You have no clue what you're talking about.
They thought it was cool but it was plain ignorance and laziness.
@@xObscureMars Not an assumption at all. The Army and Marines are very different services with very different resources. I'm sure that the mission set from that base was also very different by the time you moved in.

Damn, just stumbled across this video by chance. That was my unit! 3/2. I remember my very first evening at my PB I could see tracer rounds from across the river coming from PB Mirage. I was over at PB 7171. Good times.
This is so hard to watch with there future being my present and to see that we did exactly what we were worried about not doing.
Welp, this definitely represents how cheap and underfunded the Marines are in terms of grunt sanitation and general FOB equipment.
treat the best like crap. they should be pampered
My dad said that his Marines have to be miserable to feel happy and comfortable.
Red Dog Guess that’s why my dad raised me as he did lol. Once a marine, always a marine. The mentality never leaves.
This more of a COP, FOB are typically bigger and holds the battalion command TOC. COPs are smaller usually platoon to company size and limited on equipment due to the size
Daniel Pickrell Thanks for the correction. FOB was the first term that popped into my head at the time and I kept it anyway because I figured it would still get my point across for the general state of the Marines.
2:10 I was thinking "or a goat could have stepped on it" and then the soldier said the same thing lol
