    This sounds amazing
    And the narration is full of gold to sample
    “I just kinda banged the box”
    Lotta gems
    Great radio voice
    Gonna try this technique on the microcell later on

    OMG! I just got into modular and I also just recently bought the exact same Kalimba (same color everything), within the last month and RUclips found this great video for me magically. Definitively stealing my idea that I just invented after you!

    Fantastic usage of the contact mix! Also, I couldn't help but notice your very clean 6U rack mount cases. Did you build those enclosures yourself? Looking to find a rack mounting solution for my 4x tiptop ears.

      @TomChurchill  Год назад

      Thanks! These are the rack cases - sadly I don’t think I’d have done such a good job if I’d tried to make them myself 😂 www.nutshellstudio.co.uk/product-page/6u-dual-angle-desktop-rack

      @@TomChurchill Thanks for the link! These are fabulous. They fit 84hp rails without a fuss, I assume? Are you using Behringer rails, Tiptop, or some other maker?

    • @TomChurchill
      @TomChurchill  Год назад +1

      @@parristaylor Yep, they’re standard 19” so they’re ideal for 84HP rack-mount cases like the Tiptop Happy Ending. I’m using the Behringer versions but they’d be perfect for Tiptop as well.

    Happy New Year Tom. Thanks for this growy thing and for all of your great content.
    one question though: That thing you do at 8:45, turning the pitch down, is this a monsoon thing? I ask because I got a monsoon that I always put the pitch down on, thought it was faulty, maybe it is?

    • @TomChurchill
      @TomChurchill  Год назад

      Hey Jonas! Thanks :)
      I'm not totally sure about the Monsoon pitch thing - it's only an issue when I use the V/oct input, and I *think* that's because Monsoon expects voltage in the range of -5V to +5V and equates 0V with the centre position of the pitch knob, i.e. 0V is no change, negative voltage reduces the pitch and positive voltage increases the pitch. I usually feed it only with positive voltage from the Beatstep Pro/Keystep/Stages/Step 8 etc, so I have to pitch down in Monsoon to compensate, if I want to play any notes below the original pitch.
      If I play the C below middle C from the Keystep and connect that to the V/oct, for example, that's a voltage of +2V, so it would increase the pitch by two octaves. If I turn the pitch on the Monsoon down two octaves, this 'cancels it out'. Does that make sense?

    Is that loud hiss coming from the Behringer power supplies ?

    • @TomChurchill
      @TomChurchill  Год назад

      Nah, it’s probably just the fact that I’ve heavily boosted a super-quiet signal, twice, and run it through a bunch of modules, so it’s not the cleanest signal path. Never had a noise issue with regular signals.
