    I've found every single one of them in my ranch. I think it's because I have a lake on the ranch and it's perfect for snakes and nearly everything.

      Please keep them all on your property. We like to hike and swim without fear. These animals are deadly and will kill, cripple and mame anyone without any remorse.

    Well now we got Mojave rattlesnakes and they look similar to Western Diamondbacks but contain the most potent venom of any of the rattlesnake species in the world.

    The cool thing about pit vipers is their thermal vision is 3D that, like she said, works in total darkness. High tech nature.

    When a cotton mouth moccason is startled, it will give off an oder wich smells exactly like a skunk. I have encountered this many times while picking dewberries in thick grass and vines.

    Why is it elapids' venom is so much more potent than viper venom? Do neurotoxins need to work harder to do their job than hemotoxins?

    Some Texas snake experts have claimed that the Coral snake is the most toxic land snake in America. Just wonder if anyone has looked into the toxicity of the Tiger Rattler? It was listed as 0.06mg/kg (mice), iv. That seems to beat out the Coral Snake by 10x (0.6 mg/kg (?). The Tiger rattler is found in Arizona. Locations for the Tiger rattler might change and some may show up in Texas some day. It's a good idea to have a good snake book with color photos when you are trailblazing.

    hi , would you please inform me , are there any snakes at HOUSTON , any brown recluse ? i do need your reply please , thanks a lot for the video

    • @texasparksandwildlife
      @texasparksandwildlife  9 лет назад +2

      Houston is home to several varieties of snakes including venomous snakes such as the copperhead, coral snake, cottonmouth, and rattlesnake as well as non-venomous rat snakes, ribbon snakes and more. When outdoors, always look where you step and never reach into tall grass, under rocks or into holes or other blind crevices without looking first. If you see a snake, remain still and slowly move away. Generally snakes don't bite if they don't feel threatened.

      Rattlesnakes ARE vipers. The term 'viper' is short for Viperidae - a Family of snakes that includes rattlesnakes and other snakes which have hollow fangs.
