- How to stay warm in the Russian winter? In this video, I will show you how we dress in Russia so that even the strongest frost does not kill the desire to have fun in us! I live in the center of Russia, 2 hours by plane to Moscow (on the scale of Russia it is not far). Therefore, the temperature in my Samara city may be a little colder than in Moscow or St. Petersburg.
So if you're going to visit Russia, I want this video to be helpful for you as well!

My first time visiting Russia it was in the winter, my suitcase with all of my winter clothes inside was lost during transit. Coming from a tropical country, I only wore shorts and a t-shirt by the time of arrival to Moscow. I was lucky to have some Russian friends help me buying new clothes. It was an unforgettable winter for me, lol! Very good video!

This is actually good info for people who are not used to such cold, but are traveling or going in the mountains to ski or something.

You always manage to make me laugh and that's why I watch you videos. This one about winter in Russia made me laugh very much especially your pronunciation.
I remember the first time I visited Russia in 2014.
It was early in December and it was like being in a freezer. There had recently been a snowstorm.
One morning I bundled up and left my hotel in the city, walked through the snow and ice to a pizza cafe not far away.
On the way inside I noticed a small bird was sitting on the handrail just outside leading into the cafe. He seemed a little too close.
I thought to myself, bird fly away.
I looked a little closer.
The bird was frozen solid. 🫢
The sad statictics is 90% of small birds (sparrows and itts) dont survive the winter.
Great stuff. It’s similar weather to where I live near Minneapolis Minnesota USA. Layers are crucial.

Used to dress like that (in layers) all the time in the seventies when we had weeks on end of seriously sub-zero weather in the winters and I often had to walk or depend on a bus to get around town. I was skinny back then and when you are thin the cold can really get to you, but I'm old and fat now and it rarely gets really cold lately where I live anymore. But when it snows a lot (rarely) I have to clear drifts off the long driveway from my garage to the street with a snow blower to get to work. To do that I still dress with combat boots, ski bibbs, a hooded puffer jacket in either metallic or flourescent colors, ear muffs, insulated gloves, and ski goggles that fit over my regular glasses. I look like a total space alien.

I can handle the cold, and it can get very cold in southern Germany, but then again I like shorts and T-shirts, so spring and mild summer still is best. 👌
I love cold freezing weather. It's more pleasant than the soft cold ( from +5 to -2), wet and windy weather in Germany. Would love to have real winters in Germany.

I was in Samara 20 years ago. Nice place , I also went up the river by boat to the 2 gora. I had good memories, even the mounted police let me ride one of their horses.

There is a big difference between the country and Siberia, if in the west - 30, then in Siberia - 50 and lower

I've seen a thing russians do when it's really cold and it's covering nose and mouth with a gloved hand, breathing through the glove. When I see someone doing that, I know she or he is russian - and so far I was always right 😁

Grew up in Ottawa, Canada...with pretty much the same freezing winters. As teenagers, we sometimes wouldn't wear hats and we'd wear have our jackets unzipped...to be "cool". Mmmm, kinda dumb, especially when our ears would fall off.

So it has been over 110 F (43C) in Phoenix for over 30 days this summer, with one day at 119 (48C). It was 112 F (44C) today. Cold sounds good right now.

I live in Atlantic Canada and it goes from -40C with windchill in the middle of winter to 40C with Humidex in the middle of summer.

When I was in the US Navy I was stationed at a small base near Chicago. We would have to go out and change wheels in winter when it was -20 degrees. Our fingers would become numb in seconds when we used the tools or touched the wheel.

I liv ein north italy and we have very warm winter compared to those over the alps, but we built in medieval times porticoes , basically oper rooftops that run all over the streets: so you can walk safe form rain, snow and even sun in the summer. It's a mistery to me why in germanic and slavic countries there are nothing, you just have to freeze yourself walking from one palace to another or slipping on the ice. Anyway, in Canada they have found even a better solution: subterrean, dugout network of streets with malls, metro, ecc at 15°C in wtiner while -20 outside. It's a good idea to implement in the old world.

It's funny how it feels more cold around 0 degrees, up to like -10, but you barely feel the difference between -10 and -25, because the air tends to be a lot dryer in these conditions, which limits thermal conductivity. Above -30 though, it starts to feel really cold again, and this is also where your sweat, snot and other bodily fluids freeze in a matter of seconds.

As someone living in Maine, I can relate to this. Although Im usually dressed lighter as I am working so the extra layers would be too much
i was raised in northern california, and there was lots of snow. but bangor, maine has ice that is ungodly, and hitting the frozen pavements sucks really bad. you look so nice and warm with your winter attire, i must confess that if i were there and cold i would grab you and tie myself to you to stay warm. is that wrong? thank you for teaching me about Samara, which i am going to research now before i secretly study Русски язык.

IT was 27 degrees Celsius in Ciudad Obregon México. Lots of sunshine and nice. IT gets up to 45 in the super though.

Ski suit (not sky) like names. Knitwear (silent K) just (k)nitted like mitt(ens). Clothes are made of cloth, closest to cloves not klo thez. We slip, the ice is slippery.
My favorite line is “ then you put on a long down coat that covers up all the beauty that you just put on.” Absolutely hilarious!!!
