For several years now I have wondered why nobody has made a billet L series block. 🤷🏼♂️ I know it’s expensive but racers have done it with 2JZ blocks and others. 🤷🏼♂️
I really like the DW heads and them being based on the Honda K20 head means they flow really well but at the end of the day, people who can afford them will buy NISMO heads (if produced) because of the name.
@@FinalHeavenJam It would be an amazing addition to the catalog! It would be a true testament to the enduring world wide popularity of the Z to drop a factory upgrade to a 50 year old car! Also, keep an ear out for any developments in the L6 Head Project, they're supposedly available in the JDM currently.
Agreed! Are you referring to PAMS? I heard they were developing a dohc head as well but wonder if they snowballed it due to NISMO releasing their head. They’re also working on a head for the S20 (hakosuka GTR and 432 Fairlady Z engine)
Did they lay the engine differently? The engine is leaned to the left whereas the production l28 leans to the right. Or with the Japanese Z’s, do they lay the engine to the left?
I wonder if anyone will have any more information at Z Con next month? Do you think the nismo head will be superior to the cheaper datsunworks head (obviously we don’t know what the cost of the nismo head will be but if your estimate of 5 million yen, ~$34k, it’s over double the cost of the Datsunwork head if I’m correct.) interesting stuff I hope they do come out with it. Can you still even buy an OS Giken head? I see Greenline has it listed for $43k.
I would not hold my breath that NISMO would reveal more info on the head at Zcon. They seem to prioritize the Japanese market in terms of news. If I remember correctly, the Datsunworks head is based on the Honda K-series head which is much more modern tech so I would assume it would outperform the NISMO unit. It’s only speculation at this point though. The price point of the NISMO unit may be high compared to the DW head but, with all due respect, NISMO has a much more respected name globally and infinity JDM points 🤣 OS giken still technically sells their TC24B1Z but it’s not able to be purchased by itself. It must be purchased as a full long block package .
It’s definitely cheaper but as I pointed out in the video, the name Datsunworks is not on the same level as NISMO. To some people, that means something and to others, only the price matters.
It’s amazing to see Nissan do this, with OS Giken already in the market for L-Series Twincam heads, it’s good to see competition brewing.
Ran to RUclips from IG. Thanks for the inside scoop. Great video!
Thank you very much! Looking forward to making more cool videos for you!!

My L28 makes more than 300hp at the crank with a 2 valve P90 head this thing should easily see 400hp when setup right
Datsunworks heads are available. Estimated turn key cost is around 18-20k assembled ready to bolt on. They have better flow than the OSG heads.

I would kill for this thing in my Z OSGiken Ts24 screams and I get the feeling this will too! Looking forward to seeing more
Same here! Really hope to hear more from NISMO on this soon!
OS Goiken manufactured a DOHC cylinder head back in the 80 s 😊
Yes and the head was mentioned in the video of course
Take my money!!!!! Said every Z owner ever! Sign me up for 2!
Truly hoping they follow through with making these! Will be sure to update as I hear more!

The layout is the same for LHD and RHD Zs. Engine mounts can be used for slight angle adjustments though

Ehhh, kn20 head is probably better and cheaper look it up... K20 head modified to fit l28 in 6cylinder configuration
