Here's a data idea, Alan. Have a positional sensor located at the bikes COG and a sensor at the riders COG. Develop a numeric relationship between there 2 relative positions that demonstrates when they are "in balance" with one another. Analyze the data to see when/where/how much time is spent with those data points not within the ideal numeric relationship and strive to improve in those areas. COG to COG relationship may demonstrate "technique"

Finding out the personality trait colours is a fantastic way to build a cohesive team.
Learning what colour someone is, and then knowing how to communicate with them in their preferred style makes a MASSIVE positive difference.
I’m an engineer (blue, analytical) and often deal with salesmen and project managers (reds).
Using brevity, certainty and immediacy to any form of communication with them works wonders. Whereas greens hate that, and need a milder, supportive approach.
I can fully see where a mechanic and a rider knowing how they come across to each other on good, but especially bad days, is vital.
When the pressure is on reds get big and expansive, demanding, wanting constant updates and micromanagement, while blues want to knuckle down in solitude so as not to make errors.
Fascinating subject. Excited to see what Alan can do with Norco.

Fascinating episode guys. I don't think I've rewound a pod so much ever. A 2h50m pod has turned into 4+ as i sit here trying to quash the Flu.
You could pick shorts from this for months.
I agree with Alan's perspective on the exposure of mtb. We really need the sport to be back on terrestrial tv whether its national or international Worlds' Champs or Cups.. and Definitely not in the Olympics.
I'm 47 so i remember seeing Mountain Bike Britain on channel 4 and being blown away that a sport like DH existed..Teams like Animal Orange really stood out for me. Towards the end of that era all the bikes number plates had 'dirt' at the top. Took a few years to discover dirt was the coolest magazine ever. I was hooked from that moment.
I'm a yellow or green kind of personality.

Epic episode, enlightened, informative, insightful and incredibly interesting. Absolutely loved it.
I agree with Alan, "why" is an important question that needs answering, I've spent 30+ years managing & coaching people and teams and giving them the "why" was paramount to sucess.
I also agree with Oli, put me on a moto start line beside 30 other riders or on a mtb dual slalom or 4X beside the riders I'm coaching and it's game on, but on my own on a downhill or enduro stage just doesn't do it for me.

When it comes to where riders come from e.g. Surrey and Nice, there always seems to be a reluctance to acknowledge the fact that both these places are extremely affluent and mountain biking is a very expensive sport (especially to compete in)... There's a clear correlation. I don't think there's something magical about the Surrey hills, except for its proximity to the city of London and the related economic benefit 😂.
Wales has some of the best riding in the world, and you've got Taylor Vernon and Joe Breeden (that I can think of) from Wales on the DH circuit.
