  • In this episode of "Providing Pediatrics," Charles Wooley sits down with Dr. Todd Maxson to explore pediatric trauma and the trauma systems in place throughout Arkansas.
    Todd Maxson, M.D., serves as Surgeon-in-Chief for Arkansas Children’s and holds the Rachel Fuller Endowed Chair in Burn. He also serves as a Professor of Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
    He led the creation of the first Level I Pediatric Trauma Centers in the south-central US, in Dallas and Austin, Texas. Returning to Arkansas in 2009, he led the creation of the Level I Center at ACH as well as the Arkansas Trauma System. During the first seven years of the system, the State saw preventable mortality from injury cut in half. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed papers and numerous book chapters as well as serving as the President of the Pediatric Trauma Society and on the Boards of the Trauma Center Association of America and the A+ Pediatric Trauma Research Network.
    He completed a biochemistry degree from Texas A&M University, medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, general surgical residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a Pediatric Surgical Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine.
