Do you enjoy timber framing? Although this was small, it's still a fun process putting it together! One thing to remember, you have to make sure those cuts are spot on or you'll be ordering material again! We took it slow, made sure the hip was cut correctly, from there it was a simple process, but notching over those 8x8's with the hip was a tricky situation! Hope you all enjoyed the Winery Build Series, you'll see more from this place later on.. One Final Walk-Through, my favorite 10:00-15:00 of the build compiled into one video, along with the Plywood going back up in the main building! For now though, it's relaxation time! BANG ON!
T A Politely tell him $45 again, if you haven’t already. If you lose the job you lose it, which is fine. If you’re legit you cannot afford to work in Aspen for $35/hr.
Very nice work. Looks awesome. Super cool you get to work side by side with your old man. I cant wait to get my oldest son (15) out there this summer. This was great build series for sure. Keep up all the hard work and always Bang on Brother!🤘
HEY Matt, this project looks good I admire people working with passion, I'm not a professional, but I'm starting some woodworking there, I think I will use some tricks in the future ;) Greetings from Poland BANG ON!!!
You guys did great job out there, hopefully in future videos you may show us how to layouts and cut the hip and angles.... Can't wait to see next project bro
Hey Matt great video content!!! Really enjoyed watching it....at least when Clinton wasn’t standing in the way of the camera, lol. Great work on the beam details, that roof looked sharp. Your dad standing on the top platform of the ladder turned my stomach a little. He’s such a Tarzan! Amazing how many tools it took to dress those beams. Consider adding a cordless Makita 36 volt chainsaw to the group for cutting the beam ends. If you run out of content for the next videos, how about showing us your truck and/or hopefully you have some Las Vegas homebuilder show videos still to post?
that is not a step...."Dad, Do as i say son not as i do" lol Great Job. Looks amazing. I have stacked a log cabin and that timber framing reminded me of being a heirloom furniture maker where all your work is seen and not covered by any fancy trim piece.
They're perfect for making cuts like that! Quick and easy.. Our lumber yard charges $5.00 to run the blade through one, so if you've got a fairly detailed corbel, each one can run you $30-40.00. Portable band saw only runs $1,500-2,500.00!
Did I see a drop cut on the bevel? You got skill sets brother man! And pops doing the high wire as usual. I like this tribe thing. My son came up, bang'n nails, and liken it.
Matt, great work Can you show in a future video the method you used to cut the osb to fit on the hip? Did you use the framing square or a tape measure ? I would love to see the framing square method shown. Thanks for the amazing channel
I was with you until you did a scarf joint at the overhang. Not understanding that. Was the 45 degree beam engineered on the one corner? It looks like it exceeds the 1/3/2/3 rule for the overhang.
Hey matt. Great video as always. Why was Q putting his arms up to lift the beam when u and your father had it. Hahaha lol. Huge fan of your channel. Bang on
Very nice job. I have a question though. On the roof after you had your t&g decking down you put osb sheathing over top of it. Was that required or just something done to match the existing because it seems like the 2x T&G would be plenty sufficient to span across the rafters.
Awesome to see this job getting wrapped up! Wicked cool build espically seeing the big timber frame joinery! Seriously looks good man love the videos! Keep em comin! Bang On!!🤙👍🔨📐
Love the videos man doing a great job. Just wondering though, whats the pay like for carpenters and laborers where you're at. I'm all the way in New Jersey so I'm curious to see if there is a substantial difference
The new post was not PT right? If not are you concerned about the post rotting? I am building a chicken coop out of some 2x4s but want an natural wood look but I am concerned about not using PT.
Not at all, the post is set on a Post Base w/ a 1" stand off, so it's not touching concrete, nor will water get to it. :) Chicken coop you'd be fine using regular old 2x4, so long as they aren't in the dirt, or on concrete directly.
Currently I work in Germany and they tend to make jokes about American wood framed houses because they use masonry as a standard, btw wicked framework!
I notice you're using a milwaukee M18 leaf blower. I'm looking into getting one for myself but I'm a little suspicious about an electric blower, and would like to hear your thoughts on it. Is it the M18 FUEL or the regular one? Another excellent video btw, keep up the good work.
Whats the longest screw you have put in to lock timber joint? And I didn't catch the screw name. I thought it would be Timberlocks but you called it something else. new sub!
Timberloks made by a different company I believe.. These are Simpson’s screws, SDWS structural screws. I believe the longest in this was 14”? Maybe 16”. I’d have to check.
Bye Bye Makita... Lol, Everything turned out Awesome. Bonfire on the Beach... Nice! Since you don't Drink, Tell Pops to Drink a Couple for me... Lol Take Care Brother.
They sent it to me prior to release, to test and give my opinion. I personally want to buy another, just to have.. The batteries seem to die a bit faster than the Makita, but overall the saw is great. I go through 3 batteries cycles in a good long day. It’s a bulletproof saw though, beat the heck out of it for the last 3 months + without issue. Definitely higher torque and power than the Makita! 😊
@@MattBangsWood great man , thanks haven't seen a farmer on RUclips using one so I thought I'd ask , since they are $400 and wanted a good opinion to see if it's worth the money . Thanks man

Only nailed on top of 4x6 rafters and fill! Trust me, that’s the only thing I was worried about! A nice nail sticking through our t&g, I would have cried..

Yeah and material like that isn't cheap 🤣
I've been doing carpentry for almost 20 years. And I come home to watch carpentry on RUclips. Love watching your content.
Cutting those beams and then doing the corner with the decorative cut on bottom looks so good. Looking good!
u are the best framer I've ever seen and I've been around for long time
Far from it! Just enjoy what I do is all. We have a good time working, for the most part.
Far superior out there though!

Good to see a new video Matt looks good
Awesome video, loved the winery build. 🔨🔨🤟🤟
Damn that looks good! Like putting a giant puzzle together
Really enjoyed this vid, tying into existing home/building mace it an interesting twist from your new construction work.
That came out fantastic .... super great vid addition to your channel
You and your boys killed the details on this one dude, and those 8x8’s 😍
What do those posts cost in California? They’re about 3$ a board foot here
I’ll check and see, pricing wasn’t too bad. We originally priced for redwood, only to find out it’s DF!
the cuts were tight and perfect you guys are great skilled and talented. Beautiful work!
Beautiful job guys!

Drop cut on the bevel was one of the only ways, super odd cutting that ting. It's a team effort, that's for sure!
BRILLIANT BROTHER
Matt, great work
Can you show in a future video the method you used to cut the osb to fit on the hip?
Did you use the framing square or a tape measure ? I would love to see the framing square method shown.
Thanks for the amazing channel
icebandithockey it's simple on a framing square. It's run of common rafter one side, true length common rafter on other.
Nice job broski. N that's a pretty bright foot n leg!! Lol

good to see pops using the bandsaw

A great build Matt, on to the one.
Very nice.
Well done.

What band saw did you use?
@mattbangswood, Bro what work pants are those on day 3 look comfy and functional af.

Great job !! gona sound stupid but i got kinda mad when you brother didnt hold the ladder for you when you were carrying the lumber up the ladder cx
xuy lala That’s Clinton, he’s not his brother.
Good ol' Clinton. He's a good kid, always tries to help. I shoo him off most the time, so he kind of knows now when to help / give space.

Beam cutting measure twice cut once Love those days when I have to cut beams as lol

How much did this entire project cost?? Insane craftsmanship guys, keep it up.
I don't know the exact dollar amount, but from ground up.. I'd say this addition is somewhere between $2,000,000 and $2,500,000..
Good construction but get little giant ladders, much safer and versatile than these deathtrap ladders u got,you can easily fall off these
Hey buddy what kind of pants are you wearing in this vid? They look comfortable to work in
10:00 Tough Makita impact driver bounces on the concrete and keeps on going...
That’s why my tools never last long, I tend to be rough on things. It still worked though!
I’ve dropped my dewalt impact off a few 16 foot roofs with no issuss
What kind of band saw was that? Never seen one used in the field. Looks like a modified Milwaukee
Old school, brand is B&M. It’s a Milwaukee that’s been modded by the manufacturer.
12:24 what's with the one boot on one boot off thing... lol.. AHH, lol. Found out a little bit later, damn that sucks.
The construction company I work for makes us lift everything we dont get nothing fancy to lift the beams I wish...
Let me think, set a beam by hand or use the machine
Buy a Grasshopper to move those beams.
What jigsaw did you use to cut the curves on the rafter beams?
B&M Band Saw.
@ 22:22 where’s your shoe?
Never mind you’ve answered later in video
I wish I could have 4D video because whatever I stepped in smelled terrible.
I threw my shoes away.
Are those mc hammer pants?
