- Pittsburgh Steelers trade rumors are getting juicy just days away now from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, especially at the wide receiver position, as now Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton may be on the trade block after not reporting for voluntary team activities that started today in Denver. The Broncos are in a dire cap situation after letting go of Russell Wilson earlier this offseason, so they aren’t in the best place to offer Sutton an extension, which seems to be to the displeasure of Sutton himself. Today on Steelers Talk, host Jack Sperry tells you why the Steelers should look into trading for Sutton, then reacts to Peter Schrager’s Steelers mock draft, and finishes up by telling you why the Steelers may move James Daniels to center depending on who they end up taking in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft.

I would like it for Pittsburgh to trade for Sutton. He wouldn’t cost a lot to trade, he won’t be expensive to pay, and he posted his highest TD season ever with Wilson last year. I won’t mind this trade
I like the player, but if he thinks $13.5 million is so low as to not even be worth showing up to a workout, he won't be cheap to pay.
@@FrasierFanMSU still I prefer that as opposed to tradin long 1st round or 2nd round draft capital for a guy like Brandon Aiyuk or Justin Jefferson and then either only get 1 year out of them or pay them 30mil per year which we don’t have with everyone else who needs contract extensions
@@twindragon5668 Yeah, the WR salary market is insanely inflated in general right now, which is why I'm mostly on the "just draft a guy" train (unless someone is available at fire-sale rates for some reason). I mean, how much is 60 Rec/800 yds/6 TD supposed to be worth? Sutton's current contract seems about right.

After watching Russel Wilsons highlight tape when we acquired him, I was immediately intrigued with Sutton. This dude makes some great catches in that tape.

Been saying Sutton realistically makes the most sense.. Broncos are in a clear rebuild & Sutton was Wilson’s #1 target when he was healthy.. put him opposite of Pickens & draft a WR later along with having Austin, Quez & Van Jeff (also Patterson depending on how we really use him) .. is decent depth for sure

Trade 98 for Sutton and then trade 20 back and pick up a day 2 pick you basically got sutton for free. Then draft one of the top three centers with the first pick corner at 51 Defensive tackle 84 then offensive tackle and double dip at receiver

I think the most optimal play is trade for sutton with a 4th (I think we overestimate players value for draft picks looks how cheap other teams paid for players this off season) 1st OT, 2-C, 3rd Wr/CB whatever order of value.
Who are we releasing to get the cap space? This isn't Madden football. We literally have just enough cap space to pay the draft class let alone having some left to deal with injuries throughout the year.

@@benjiestrada4658 The Steelers do not like to push salaries down the road in exchange for bonus's. They just don't. They currently sit at $12,600,006 in cap space. A typical draft class takes up about 10-12 million in cap space. Teams also have to set aside 4-5 million in cap space to deal with in season injuries. Who are they cutting to create the space?

I agree. 1st is too rich for a center. Barton would be a DeCastro level guard pick id be ok with in a trade back situation if Daniels moves to center. Personally like Fautanu as a RT and a OG rd 3 or 4. CB, WR and DT need to be addressed before drafting a center especially if Daniels moves to center. It’s his better more natural position.

What is this infatuation with trading for a receiver? We have an advantage in this year's draft. There are several wide receivers we could take: Xavier Leggett, Xavier Worthy, Troy Franklin, Tez Walker, Keon Coleman or if we're feeling froggy trade down if we think we have a chance to get Brian Thomas jr. We can get a number 1 receiver at the two and not have to pay him. SMH

Sutton might be viewed as a legit #2 Receiver, but are we sure that Pickens is a legit #1 WR? The trade for Sutton shouldn't be costly in terms of draft capital and/or contractual. It's definitely worth exploring...

I hope they get one like he is. So it won't hurt the future aqusition of players we need. That he has to get to fill out the holes in the roster. And if they can get a big time receiver before or after the draft ,without giving up any of this year's picks for him. I would be happy and most likely, other people will have the same feeling. I would be a big fan of a Sutton trade. It allows the Steelers to draft a corner, a tackle, and a center with their first 3 picks while still allowing the Steelers to consider drafting a WR in round 4 if a good option is still there.
Trade For Sutton, Draft Cedric Van Pran-Granger or Equivalent C and Amarius Mims To Bolster The OL
Look if the steelers are super bowl or bust id rather get a wr in the draft or go all in for a trade but it depends on what we give up. Because we need to pay that wr in a trade.

The Steelers can flip Fields for a #1 after the season ends. A year behind Russ and a few successful, situational double-QB sets will be enough to flip him to a QB-thirsty team for a #1 after the season, or maybe in the middle of it. So I would still kick the tires on an Aiyuk trade and just give him max dollars for one year.
This guy is wrong Sutton has had a 1000 yard season he had 1112 yards and 6 tds in 2019. And he had such a fit with wilson he couldnt even break a 1000 yards. This will tell you how good he is Garrett Wilson had a 1042 yards with Zach Wilson as his Qb. But if the Steelers wanna give the Broncos a 3rd rd pick i bet they jump on it quick without a second thought.

None, they are very expensive, if they could be paid it would get us in trouble next year because we have to think about the QB... if Willson works, how much will he be paid? Hiring WR divas is not an option because it asks for at least 30 million, remember we already have experience with AB... The best thing is the first and second round offensive line, left tackle and center, and the rest of the draft, look for play makers and corners to develop that do not cost 30 millions.

Chemistry with a QB is with way more than talent. Aiyuk is more talented, but Aiyuk hasn’t played with Russ. Sutton had chemistry either Russ that he hadn’t seen since DK and TyLock.

Courtland Sutton’s dissatisfaction is with the Broncos! He’s just using the contract to push his way out. Don’t get it twisted. He really wants more money, but the impetus for his making noise about it is his desire to play on a better team.
I hate to say this, but the Broncos probably shouldn’t have hired Sean Payton. Jerry Rosberg was the guy. And the Broncos would’ve been well-served to fire Payton.
