The first water fall was not Bridal Veil. The big water fall is. I believe that it is the 2nd tallest water fall in the USA. That building is a power station. It generates the electricity for Telluride. Great video.
I enjoyed watching this very much. It's amazing how that wide angle lens flattens everything. You simply have to see it to realize how steep it is. I love the way to talked yourself down the descent! One quick question....is your audio going through your Go Pro as well?
Dude, this is amazing. I am going to be attempting this pass in early september and I just cannot wait. I'll be on a Norden 901 and this beast is the only thing I'm really worried about.
Stand all the time. Dont ever sit. Ass over the rear back of your seat and tail rack. . Don't take a rear top box if you can help it. Get as light as possible. Keep momentum up. Its really hard to stop on the harder parts of this pass(try to avoid that) . Those would be my tips.
Yep when I did it, I will be honest, I just rode it. There was nothing at the entrance to say other wise. In my 3 weeks of traveling the Continental Divide I didn't check to see if any of the 30 or so passes I rode were open. I purchased a USA entrance pass for all National Parks in the US. I didn't even think of open or closed. To be honest I didn't think there was an actual open/close authority monitoring passes. I just figured if you couldn't make it through, be it snow/debris/flood etc, that was what closed a pass. I didn't realize there was an actual roads department for whatever state that was the authority on open/closed passes. That was my third time riding Colorado and I never knew. I will have to remember that for next time.
Been up and down it yes back in the day it was open both ways until 4 wheeler s started having bad wrecks I’m surprised that the Usfs hasn’t closed it completely
You sure about that? A long long time ago it was open for a time to traffic in one direction then it would be open for a time the other way. It never opened this year. Might be closed for good.
I did this on Aug 3 this year. I think it had been open for only a couple days. There was snow up top but easily manageable. Its open.. Good luck, its awesome.
Hi. I am always in Rally Mode... Slip 2 or 3. However for this I was basically just coasting down. I'm not a big ABS fan and honestly rarely use it. I know its great for street stuff, however I just don't use it a lot.

@@cmbride nope. It’s Ingram creek, Ingram falls and BlackBear road on Ingram pass. Bridal Veil falls is the nearly 500 foot waterfall that is beside the power house. After 56 years in the San Juan’s I should know.
KTM 890 ADV R. I was travelling however I took a bunch of weight out of my panniers. As well I emptied my Roto-pax. I really tried to get to be a light as is pretty tough when you are carrying everything for a 3 week trip.
@Mightycaptain Dunno, I've had my Norden 901 for just a couple months and feel it has pretty good compression braking. But I've not yet had the chance to ride on rocky and truly steep downhills. But, if you are comparing it to a DR or such, then that is quite a difference! No matter the torque factor, I've always preferred the extra stability engine (compression) braking offers. I rarely could hear the bike rev, and his comment late in the video, implied clutch in and braking a lot. @cmbride did a great job either way. And since he runs tours, I just like to hear pro thoughts. One can always learn more.
Those switchbacks look absolutely terrifying.
Great job! I was at the edge of my seat just watching this. And that's my office seat not even my bike seat =)
Great ride. I was puckering😂
Great job bud!! On my bucket list for sure!!
Congratulations Clinton! Bucket list, very cool!
Good job - love the self-coaching along the way, good stuff.
Just wow! Amazing job
well done sir.........
I think I need to change my shorts! Great run. Those switchback corners looked tight!
If I am correct, that is a power station that is also a house - we watched a show called extreme homes.
Nice riding. You did much better than I did on the steps.
Thanks 👍
Great riding
Nice

Damn, I read the title wrong. The whole time I was waiting for the black bear show to show up `😂
Fantastic, on a bigger bike too.
Thanks Craig. It was awesome.

Hi Yes it is. I have a Media Mode on my Go-Pro. It always me to attach an external mic. I have the mic in side my helmet

One dab, and that one barely counted. On a 430lb skyscraper! That gets a subscription from me!
What’s a dab?
Man that was impressive I’ve took every trail but black bear
The last bike I rode down Black Bear Road was a Honda CR250 in straight motocross trim.
At 11:52 you said, “I’m the only guy on this freaking hill”. That is because the road was closed.

Yikes! My heart was in my throat just watching this! Well done Clint!
Thanks Hans. Yes it was pretty technical, that's forsure. Quite steep in some spots. Im glad I did it.
What are you riding?
KTM 890 ADV R@@notquitesureofanything2849
When I did it there was a wrecked Jeep in the river right at 9:40 mark.
I did it back in 2012 on my XR650 it was a fun ride, I’d never want to do it in a Jeep
Been up and down it yes back in the day it was open both ways until 4 wheeler s started having bad wrecks I’m surprised that the Usfs hasn’t closed it completely

Just curious, is this open for 2023? the one website with the trail status says it's closed. I'll be there the last week of August 2023.

No sir you technically illegally crossed this pass as it is not officially open.
Would the status be listed here: www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/gmug/recarea/?recid=32490
Perhaps its opened up now.
Can you share what mode were you. ABS off or on and if rally mode what slip # or did you turn all the damn things off

Side by sides. Really? Glad you got a thrill.
Im not sure what you mean Scott. I'm on an 890 KTM
Wasn't the Pass closed?

At 10:24 that is Ingram Falls.
I think its called Bridal Falls.

Are you just coasting? Engine braking would help and you would have some extra control
Why didn’t you rely on engine braking more often? Not condemning, just curious.
That bike doesn't have that great of engine braking. Not like a thumper.
