Skin Cancer Time Lapse (Basal Cell Carcinoma, Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Melanoma)

  • Using generative AI, this time lapse sequence shows how 3 different types of skin cancer develop over 10-25 years. Starting with normal skin, sun damage eventually leads to malignant change ultimately resulting in the development of skin cancer.
Obviously, such a time lapse can not be realistically accomplished as there is no way to know if any given area of skin will turn into cancer. Obviously, somebody with such future knowledge would have to start taking such photos now in the same spot over next 25 years to watch it slowly turn into cancer.

Thanks so much for this video! I’m very pale and had massive sunburns throughout my childhood. I’ve been keeping an eye out for skin cancer for the past twenty years now but after watching this video, I’m going to make a dermatologist appointment ASAP. I’ve got several of those dry, irritated, and scratchy looking spots on my back and shoulders. I just assumed it was from not exfoliating enough and not moisturizing enough. But I don’t know anymore…

I have a small spot of actinic keratosis. It feels hard like a small callus or wart, but it’s pink around the margin. It’s tender (not itchy) and does not shed or peel off easily. It’s pre-cancerous so it needs to be removed before it can become SCC.
There are benign lesions that are similar looking though, and it can also be a form of eczema which should be treated but can’t become cancer. Best to get a biopsy to be sure what it is. Many things can have a similar appearance. If a single lesion starts growing horizontally it is likely SCC and must be treated immediately and aggressively.

Squamus Cell was very fast. It started as a pink round flat spot and within a month it developed a high dome, like a rubber ball with a hole in the center.

See bc I’ve noticed a small red dome appear out of a red patch and idk what to do, idk if it’s squamous or not or if it’s just a bump

They’re looking for actinic keratoses usually which are precancerous lesions that have a small likelihood of developing into squamous cell carcinomas.

you misunderstand. it only becomes cancerous at the end. I heard from an oncologist that melanoma never occurs quickly, this process lasts several years while the mole degenerates. All you need to do is keep an eye out for suspicious moles and remove them before this happens.

This is very eye opening for me. I thought I had melanoma but it is actually basal cell and squamous cell and I took some antibiotics and the melanoma that was morphing into basal cell was starting to erupt and it actually calmed back down. I thought I might have TB. I am thankful for the antibiotics. But i understand that antibiotics have side effects so you cannot over do it, because I believe you need your own immune system so I don't believe in chemo. I know they have new immuno therapy that I believe you don't have to kill the white cells to help the red blood cells. That would be cool😅
