This performance is exceptional by any standards or era. I saw 40 plus shows with Jerry and Jerry Band. I will say Jerry had a way building the crowd into a frenzy that is unique. Still, this incarnation of Dead and Company is awesome.
Jay is the absolute best possible person they couldve got behind the drums for this tour. He gives added freshness and a certain edge they didnt have withiut him. He is his own person and has a lifetime of experience to add to the thing. His ability abd willingness to give everything away for the sake of getting into, truly getting into, the music, not everyone does what he does in terms of shutting things off to focus the way he does. Hes a fucking great dude in all facets imo. He's a good hang abd that's kept him in there with this music for the long haul imo.
Jay's a great guest for the halftime interview - such an interesting fellow AND such a consummate musician to have stepped in to fill for our dear Billy - such a joy 💙
Amazing how versatile this song is with different interpretations. Love this, but my favorite era was early 90s with Branford Marsalis and Bruce Hornsby guesting.
50:25 Mayer gives Jeff that look telling him that was fire...Past tours it seems like everyone was trying to play along with Bob. This tour Bob has been trying to keep up and play along with the rest of the band. His rhythm work with Jeff's solo was really good.
@harpleblues disagree and thats from somebody that dislikes dead & co. yes, ain't no jerry but he does a damn good job at being a lead player. i feel like he doesn't have the same expression as garcia, so he compensates with those "tricks and techniques" like you said.
Best jam Dead and Co ever!!! The pace and actually jumping off the cliff and taking a chance. This entire tour has been a treat.

What a song. And the start of a most excellent set.

I have been looking for one of those versions (Long Beach maybe?) with an awesome Scarlet... blue skies!
❤ - gonna miss this band.
Oh God, yes. Absolutely devastated.

🔥 is correct.❤
I love this interview, he is incredible !
I was there... Mayers guitar play took us somewhere we didnt even know existed
@harpleblues you think that solo is bad?
@harpleblues I heard you were a way better guitarist than John Mayer

Little notes dont equal big results. Mayer will never understand with his headphones live...such a douche
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good Lord John Mayer is just a different kind of player. It’s justmesmerizing
Holy shit, this is 🔥🔥😮💨😮💨
Dima dima grateful dead❤❤jerry garcia ❤❤
They do a great version of this song. I was kinda wondering why they didn't have Mayer sing it though.
Johnny is totally carrying this band. He is killing it, every solo.
Rien à dire ❤🎉🎩🎩🎩🎩
Great Interview!!!
Blessing my alma mater 95❤🎉😊
If you can't feel the joy coming through John, go to the hospital - cause you're probably dead. Not the good kind of dead.
hahaha...
Smoked it🚬
is that Antonio Banderas on the drums?
