Yes diesel fuel is typically higher priced than gas, BUT you calculate the cost per mile, NOT the cost per gallon. Example: If diesel is $3.00 per gallon and your vehicle gets 30 mpg, your cost-per-mile is $0.10. If gas is $2.70 per gallon and your vehicle gets 18 mpg, your cost-per-mile is $0.15. Simple math.
You can adjust the volume of those backup sensor alerts or mute them all together you know. That kind of makes your rant irrelevant. Also, if you're turning while backing up it's possible to hit something in the front with your quarter panel.
Kev50027 The point being that it should be a smarter system. Just turning it off, or down, doesn't address the fact that it shouldn't treat non-relavant information as urgently as it does actual threats.
Driving Sports TV Sadly, there are a lot of automobile journalists out there pumping out reviews like yours. Do some homework and make your reviews worthwhile... especially to those who might actually be interested in the buying the car you're reviewing. A few points: 1. Another person already pointed this out but I do find the front sensor useful while turning in reverse, particularly in tight spaces. Annoying when you don't need it, yes, but on the occasions that you'll eventually need it, you'll be glad. 2. On fuel savings, there's no doubt that you'll unlikely recover the cost of paying a premium for the diesel engine vs gas in the first place even though diesel is more efficient. We bought diesel because of towing capability, durability, and range. Yes, it's an expensive car, but yes I do care how much fuel we burn as well. 3. Loads of gadgets and the first thing you cover is the sunroof retractor? What about off-road capabilties matched to on-road performance, I'm sure there's a lot of interesting "gadgets" underlying this car that justifies the premium cost over, say, a Hyundai or Ford. Trying talking about those.
When you do parallel parking it is very possible to hit something in front while being in reverse. This is most common way of parking here in EU. So it is quite handy feature.
I drive one. This is a European car. In Europe we have narrow parking spaces and high curbs, and we also have to park in parking garages, where there are many poles for structural rigidity. The beep upfront is a different one than in the rear, so you can differentiate. We also have the option for 360° Brids Eye view which helps a lot, since this is one of the biggest cars available, having to park on parking space of a Golf. The front sensor saved my ass many times from hitting an object with the front of the car when reversing and turning at the same time. There is also a wide view camera mode available for the rear. You just have to push the reversing camera button ones and this will activate the thru traffic radars and you actually get 180° angle of view. Also very handy in small intersections. All in all this car is a perfect allrounder with very little compromise. You can tow 7700 lbs with it, it fits your family and all your luggage. The AWD system is perfect in snowy conditions. Its definitely not an off-roader. I did not regret buying it. If you want more power go for the 40d (313Hp - 5,9s 0-62) or 50d (380hp, 4,8s 0-62).
I actually think both parking distance warnings being active isn't such a bad thing..helps me from curving my wheels..and there is a significant fuel savings actually diesel vs petrol...
My dad bought this car for 68,000 plus tax so it 70k bruh. But its such a good car!!! its awesome one the inside and it drives fantastic! This is a truly one of a kind car
This guy needs something simpler to review, like a pair of shoes, he reminds me of the pretty Asian girls reviewing cars in the sense he is clueless about technology and cars and anything that is more complicated than an on off switch, except he's not a pretty Asian girl.
How do you think someone who buys a $60k BMW affords it, by saving money! So yes, a diesel does make sense for this car, and diesel gas is less expensive than premium which the gasoline engine requires... and it gets better MPG... and has more torque... why do they even sell the gasoline engine?
You say you ACCIDENTALLY shift to neutral when you need to simultaneously press the unlock button? I think you need to be checked by a doctor for suspected bipolar disorder. You might have another self that changes gears without your knowledge.
when reversing from parking spot you absolutely want the front sensors to be on! prevents one from hitting a vehicle beside you as you crank the steering wheel to pull out at an angle because many parking lots won't let you pull out straight back why are you even reviewing cars??
Hey Man! Nice review u got there! Very informative! Oh and btw I did a review of the X5 and I was wondering if you could give me ur advice on my review! Thanks in advance and great continuation.
You have no imagination or your comment is plainly stupid. When in reverse you can hit something with your front bumper. For example when turning and reversing out of a tight parking space you can hit another car’s door. So it is a great idea that both front and back ultrasound sensors operate at the same time.
I just had to put a comment this guy did a terrible review. He said at the end that diesel is higher than petrol. Wrong diesel is way much cheaper than petrol and he also said that to who ever buys a $60,000 bmw is not to concerned about savng money. What a dillhole. But then again in the beggining of the video when he opened the sunroof he said "my kid's love that" apparently he has one so that makes a hypocrite!!
At the time this video was filmed diesel was significantly more expensive than even premium petrol in the State of Washington where we're based. These days, diesel is still more expensive but not quite as bad; about .10 higher than premium at most stations. Obviously, this varies around the world.

Also, your gas X 5 requires premium fuel which is higher than diesel.

3:48. Can you imagine driving by and seeing that?
This guy is only good for reviewing cabrio mini coopers and pink Barbie bicycles. Not BMWs.
My dad bought this car for 68,000 plus tax so it 70k bruh. But its such a good car!!! its awesome one the inside and it drives fantastic! This is a truly one of a kind car

Mariusz Lasota that’s was the stupidest things to say and to do of course!
This is a (European) 30d. The real 35d has a twin turbo setup and comes with 313 hp.
That’s pretty amazing BMW designed a diesel without glowplugs! /s
Right lol? They need to find reviewers who don't say stuff like this lmao
when reversing from parking spot you absolutely want the front sensors to be on! prevents one from hitting a vehicle beside you as you crank the steering wheel to pull out at an angle because many parking lots won't let you pull out straight back
why are you even reviewing cars??
Totally can't believe this is the only guy on youtube who has done any level of deep review of the 35d.... that just sucks.
Well then don't rest your fucking hand on the gear shifter. SMDH.
So if it doesn’t have glow plugs what does it have ?
That's why I watch European reviews and not this fake news
Hey Man! Nice review u got there! Very informative! Oh and btw I did a review of the X5 and I was wondering if you could give me ur advice on my review! Thanks in advance and great continuation.
Correction, it does get better, the X5 50iXdrive. 445 hp. Now that is something to fall in love with.
If you are turning while you back out, you can hit something on the front end
hey buddy any modern BMW use premium fuel i live in chicago NW suburbs diesel is $1.9 when premium gas is $2.4 so think again
A hansom SUV, thanks for the upload!
Apparently you don't understand the efficiency and high performance of a diesel. And your impression of the sounds of one was embarrassing.
No glow plugs? Are you sure about that?
If you look at the options in settings you can turn that off. I hope you know that
How much costs this car now in 2017
Diesel means fast and economical? It just means a shit ton of torque and slow...
Would you buy the bimmer used vs an Outback 3.6 Limited or Touring edition ??
255 bhp. Yous sure the x5 you driving isnt a 30d?
Didn't 35d only came with 286bhp
+Driving Sports TV where do you get these cars to review
+HI MY NAME IS JAJAHOI!!! (CERMET) They are provided by the car makers.
I HATE CARS AND LOVE JUSTIN BIEBER SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Diesel is cheaper that premium gas, which the alternative engines require.
$60,000 and almost fully-loaded? I don't think so !!
60.000$ is mad cheap in my country Denmark the base model x5 costs 175.000$ and thats the BASE model without any extra feuteres
Do these requiere the Add-Blue liquid?
Yes.
Would you say these are more or less reliable than the Touareg?
The v10 diesel? This is more reliable
No glow plugs?? Umm k
Not an informative review.
'its a diesel, so its pretty good on gas'
LoL 😂
It doesn't cost $60000 cockbra1n. They range from starting point of $69000-$74000.
Good coverage of review topics. Whiniest reviewer with unessential emotional antics included was unnecessary.
Ok. I got nothing out of it. Gotta go watch some other review on it. Bummer
BMW require premium fuel not regular so diesel is cheaper than premium

diesel will last longer
plus used one you can easly buy it for $28.000
;)
but its a bMW SO BRING MONEY WITH YOU TO MECHANIC LOL
Say good bye to the automatic carwash...the sensors and radar system will go crazy and potentially damage the suspension system!!
Who is this worst critic in the automotive industry!?
Sorry, terrible review

What a waste of time🙄
happy rich white people! where are the black people reviews!
@Driving Sport, loved the video and I just subscribed to show support. Now please get a hair cut.. Thank u
You do still save money as the normal gas gets 20MPG this gets 31.
