The first time I read Tozer I read The pursuit of God. He instantly became my favorite author and that book became my favorite too. I love Tozer's work. I wish he was here because we NEED men like him to lead the church nowadays. I would love to have a mentor like him but I know thru his work he mentors me and I thank God for that.

"Genuine seekers after God, people who really want to know God *are drawn to Tozer's writings* ". Well said brother Lyle Dorsett.
We all, who love to read Tozer's writings, got there by Grace, for
No one can draw to what He Himself has inspired but God Alone. Glory be to The Lord Jesus Christ.

Around 1979-1980 I became a believer and pretty much ready the Bible day and night for months and months. I read a small motivational book by a Christian businessman that listed 100 books he believed every believer should read. Tozer and CS Lewis were on the list.
Much is what I read in the bible made me want to talk with others about what I read but nobody was interested. So I went to my pastor and other pastors but they likewise yawned and walked away. Then I read Tozer, Lewis and I finally knew there were others that felt like I did. Reading their books was as close as could get to sitting with them and discussing and sharing the Word.

Dave Stewart , I can so relate to what you say.Because of my search to know God I believe the Holy Spirit led me to AW a little over a week ago as I started listening to " The Knowledge of the Holy ".
There it was , many of the same thoughts that had been revealed to me for the past few months. I also realized very quickly that it is very hard to explain this to most people and I believe that is because they are not truly seeking the Father and are content and perhaps in their own safe place . I also would like prayer as I am struggling with going to my Church because I want food not snacks however I realize that fellowship and Worship is also a very important act yet the Church is so large that I feel like a fly on the wall.
I am 65 now and have wasted so much time .

@@lucasmotarealty I believe it was called "Life is Tremendous!" By Charlie 'Tremendous' Jones. He speaks from a Christian perspective and I think he says in it that he paid his son to read each of the books. 😁 As he felt it was a good investment. I think Amazon may carry the book but I also believe if you have good searching skills you may be able to find the list of the 100 books online somewhere. Seems like a found it's few years ago

@@lucasmotarealty you're very welcome. I'm not sure how great it is today but I was in my 20's during the 80's and was really into business motivational books. Zig Ziglar probably the best known, Og Mandino, "in search of excellence" by Tom Peters was one I really liked as it used case studies from some of the most successful businesses in the nation at the time.
Also it reminded me of a lesson I learned in my first job as a grocery bagger at 14. Everyone working the store has know me and my family since I was 2 or 3. Everyone knew everyone then. Everyone in the store liked me because I had a strong work ethic and the owner really liked me also. If someone came in and said "Mr Thorpe, I got home and there was a hole in the bag of bread." He'd run and get them a new loaf, peal off a $20 from a roll in his pocket(this was late 60's, early 70's) and hand it to them. After seeing do this dozens times I asked him "why do you give them the cash when they would have been happy to just get the replaced item? He puts his arm around my shoulder and walks me to the front of the store and points and says "see the Kroger? See the Safeway? And your know there's an A&P a block that way and a Milgrams (local chain) 2 blocks that way. They ALL have what we have and more. The ONLY way we can distinguish ourselves is with great customer service."
Mr Thorpe's small store outlasted every one of those other stores. He liked me because I did what needed doing. I'm 64 now and I've won tons of customer service awards and set a few records but it's all because of Mr Thorpe and parents and grandparents that have meat decent work ethic.

I used to think like that " wishing people like him to be around " but he used to say - there is no point to think like that... It is up to us to learn and seek God with such a devotion as they have done it and IF God is pleased with it then we shall serve our own generation and inspired them for the Glory of God!

How divine this appointment the Lord has assigned me too. Before yesterday I’d never heard of this man nor I never even knew he existed. But GOD!
GOD The Father preordained in time this divine appointment for HIS own Glory. I’m in awe 🫢 over the matter. But blessed no less.
How divine is it “Mrs. Regina”? I’m so glad you asked? I had just listened to a teaching on RUclips University, when my spirit got fastened to the Word I’d heard that Word was 1 John 4:1, Beloved, believe not evry spirit, but try the spirit whether they are of God:. When I heard this I honestly realized at that moment that I did not know how to do this? So I whispered a prayer and asked The Lord how do I test evry spirit to know if it’s of YOU! (Btw this was yesterday 6.1.22, for the prayer) And today here this man out of know where lands in my RUclips with a sermon on “How to test the spirits”? Long story short I clicked play and was blessed in my soul with what I heard. It was as if he was here now preaching a right now Word in this generation. The Word he taught with power and authority then has changed my heart, my love and my understanding. I’m thankful for his willingness to be used of GOD then for me today. Amen!

"Let's correct their preposition. God did not reveal Himself IN Christ, He revealed Himself AS Christ!" Praise God for A.W. Tozer. I love his book "The Dangers of a Shallow Faith." If you listen to the CD set it sounds as though he is critiquing today's money, celebrity and entertainment obsessed church. But he went to be with the LORD in 1963. The Holy Spirit gave him tremendous, prescient insight.
