Fantastic shotty! I just purchased it, cleaned and lubricated it, and put 100 rounds through it (50 x slugs & 50 x 00-buck) and it was flawless. Quick cycling, clean operating, zero issues, and just kept going! Kicks nicely and is a heck of a great shotgun. Highly recommended!
It's not a replica. It's the modernized version of the 1300. Same action but with updated materials. Biggest difference is the reciever is aluminum instead of steel and it's drilled n tapped for optics
Just bought one yesterday. Was in the market for a well reviewed budget shotgun. Checked out the Stevens 320 security and the Maverick 88 but they felt too rattly and flimsy. The SXP felt. far sturdier and more solid for the extra $100CDN. Cant wait to try it out
I've just purchased this shot gun and it's steady and ready great action and easy to load and shoot I've owned a bunch of shot guns over my years I'm very impressed and price point is amazing. I bought mine from a friend and only paid $210 thank you Winchester!
I was shooting a brand new 20 gauge SXP Defender last week. Nice little shotgun, very smooth, and great for the purpose.. Gotta' say, given it's light weight, the 20 kicks pretty hard with slugs. I'm a senior with a bad shoulder so I'm adding a slip-on Limbsaver pad to see if that helps. I really like the gun and would definitely recommend it especially considering the price point.
I have this gun with True Timber Midnight furniture, and it just looks sick awesome. I use to not like Turkish made shotguns, because once upon a time the quality of their metallurgy was hit or miss. All of that has changed now. The biggest names in the business are having their scatterguns built in Turkey. These Winchesters are made by Silah, one of the most respected names out of Turkey. They're known for the excellent line of Impala semi-auto shotguns.
I watched a 9mm ammo review a few hours ago. As you know, I have no experience with such things, but the results spoke for themselves, so I thought it was worth mentioning. He tested typical FMJ and hollow point vs liberty defense 50 grain, yes 50 grain from a 9mm. The crony was reading 2200 fps, twice as fast as the others. That's not what got my attention though. He then did a watermelon test. The difference was a through and through vs a an exploding watermelon. That round didn't exit out the back like the others. If stopping power and over penetration is a concern, I think that ammo is worth checking out.
I own 2 of these after having my choked version of the Defense model for almost 5 years and giving it absolute hell. Went with a 24 inch universal hunter for deer season coming up and no complaints skeets beware
Good video. You left out a key detail about your new weapon. It has a inertia assisted rotary bolt. So when you fire a shell, the slide starts moving backwards on its own. That's why it's an easier slide rack than a Mossberg or Remington action.
@@411Outdoors the only reason I know that, is because a family member had shoulder surgery and could not longer shuck the rem 870 and the Mossberg 500s.....but he is able to pump the sxp. So it seems to help people with a slight arm weakness
I just bought this and waiting for the waiting period (thanks Illinois) to be over with. I did not know this and I like that! From what I read up on and watch about this shotgun its a true gem. So makes me happy I picked a good one.
I have a winchester 1200 28 inch I got when I was 14 (now 68) thousands of rounds mostly skeet shooting 100% reliable to this day. I also have a model 1300 stainless/ chrome defender I got somewhere around 1991-92 not as many rounds but the same 100% reliability
I just purchased the Winchester sxp Defender today for home self defense!!! Im so excited to pick it up. I have to wait 10 days to pick it up because im under to 21 and they made me put my gun on hold
@@411Outdoors thanks! I pick it up today this is my first purchase as far as a firearm I will go to the range near home and practice with it so I can be comfortable removing the barrel and tightening it back on and practicing with the safety switch!
Picked one of these up a few weeks ago for around 180 brand new. If im being honest Ive had some feeding issues which for the price I paid is to be expected. Hopefully it breaks in over time but from everything Ive heard about Winchesters customer service makes me think worst case I have to send it into them. Fun gun nonetheless
I just bought one XTREM in desert combat camo and I couldn't love it more! All of the modifications are coming up too & I'm excited like it's the first bike haha
I carried a pump Winchester shot gun short barrel in the 1960’s in the Army MP’s do you think that was an early defender? They looked old then, maybe WW2? Thanks
Awesome video and fire arm I have the model before it the Winchester 1300 speed pump defender love it hoods 7 plus 1 and it has replaced my Remington 870 as my favorite shot gun
Is this what Fred Durst had been up to since Limp Bizkit fell apart? Just kidding, I've been looking into the SXP Defender for a while. My only hang up is the aftermarket support seems limited.
Glad someone brought this feature to the fore. I've noticed that my SXP is faster cycling than other slide action shotguns. And smoother. The exception is when firing slugs. Def need the recoil pad for those bad boys.
Just picked this gun up a couple weeks ago. Having trouble finding info but does anyone know if anyone sells longer barrels for it? Wanting to still keep it pretty compact for the brush and mostly close range shots but a 24" threaded barrel would be ideal for me.
@411Outdoors so after a little more research I've found that there are a couple different barrels out there, or at least once was. They have a 28" field barrel (611257392) and 26" (611257391). But cannot find any in stock anywhere and found a couple sites saying they've been discontinued, unfortunately. Sounds like it'll be a needle in a haystack to get my hands on one lol
Choate Machine & Tool, Inc. Shotgun magazine extension. Get a 3 round extension tube for $75.00. Gives you 8 + 1, I have this exact shotgun it’s awesome and with 9 rounds it’s a winner.
I have the Winchester 1300 defender made in New Haven Conn. Kinda sad that the new ones arent even made in the usa anymore. I hear that the sxp is a good shootgun , but it is just a damn shame that Winchester USA is gone. The sxp is made in Turkey
@@411Outdoors I was lucky, when I went to buy a mossberg 12 ga pump a couple of years ago, there was nothing in stores anywhere. I’ve done a lot of research on this and I’m finding out that turkey load is very common. It’s powerful enough to wreck the man in front of the wall but not those in the next room. Buck shot or slug is definitely most effective but but Buck shot can penetrate walls and harm others in the next room
Thank you, Fred Durst
I get that a lot, not really sure why lol

The SXP defender is a replica of the 1300 defender. A good, light a very fast cycling shotgun.

I bought one of these 13 yrs ago (up in Canada) and it's been an awesome little camp gun!
I have this bad boy, with the additional pistol grip version. Love the rotary bolt action. Very strong and reliable. 👍
Awesome!
P.S. - if you have not read or seen a video about it, this gun does not really like “short brass” shells.

oh was wondering did you ever get the CS Buckler shield?
No yet but it’s definitely on the list. That shield is awesome

Can you swap the barrel for different lengths?
