The nutube has a distinct sound when clean and distorted. It’s not a full tube sound but it’s close. A compressor pedal helps thicken up your clean tone well.
I'm also in the same situation. LOVE the saturation of the AC, but without reverb or fx loop I wouldn't use it plugged into a cab, I would probably put a reverb after the DI out to record it or play it directly in PA. With the clean I could use a reverb plugged in the front end, after some distorsion pedals.
The AC sounds great but I think the clean would be great for a all around backup head. They’re supposed to fit in most guitar cases so it would be great to have if you blew a tube or your amp otherwise went down during a gig. They’d be great with a lighter cab with a neo speaker for a lightweight rig.
I agree with you, but very very very few evaluation videos or ads show us (guitarists who are highly likely to purchase) that this handy, reasonable, head doesn’t just plug into the wall for power. No, no, no, no, it needs a heavy brick in between the head and the wall. I don’t know if the “brick” is a “non-interruption” battery, or if’s a transformer, electric power converter, but I wish it were built into same housing b/c you { and me, and guitar- players everywhere } need it, & I EASILY can imaging forgetting to bring it to a gig and I can also imagine forgetting it at a gig. I still think it’s a great device & probably will buy one at some point though.
great video n amp .. but just one doubt .. Do the NUTUBE in this amp need some minutes to be ready for playing like a REAL TUBE AMP or can I just turn it on and start playing immediatly?? I'll appreciate someone reply me .. t-you =)
Alexander Langer I just play at home now, age and all that, but if I put it on full tilt it would knock the windows out. I've got a hundred watt boogie king snake and this thing is right up it's arse, sound the lot. at a fraction of the cost. I can't believe it.
I bought the AC one and through a 2 x 12 cab at 8 ohms, with all the dials at noon it is blisteringly loud, easily enough to gig with. And it sounds awesome!!! \m/
macgrory told you they were good. I love mine with its little eight inch cab. with my eventide max and hall and collins echo unit in front I'm back in the 60's.
run an aggressive sounding pedal into the MV50 Clean should sound pretty decent, a Diezel VH4, Friedman BE-OD, Mesa Boogie Throttlebox EQ, MXR EVH5150, Wampler Pinnacle/Pinnacle Deluxe, Mad Professor 1, etc
As I`m getting on a bit now, and I don`t much fancy another Hernia Op, I`m now in the market for a much lighter weight Live rig, and one of these little amps with a 10" speaker sounds like the ticket, I doubt the 8" one would move enough air to sound very full, I quite like the Clean model, as I already have a great O/D on my pedal board, so I don`t need any extra crunch, how do they stand up in a Live situation?, I`m in a band with Drums, Bass, & Keyboards, and I need to know if it kicks enough ass to cut through that line up. 😎🎸
could you run a Vox MV50 series in to a loop switcher? e.g. guitar into loop switcher main input, then maybe the Clean in loop 1, AC loop 2, Rock loop 3 ... switcher loop send output to front guitar input of the MV50 micro amp heads and then the headphone/speaker cabinet simulated output connected back to the loop switcher return input??? Signal impedance/line volume level mismatch??? If it works, you could possibly run fx before and after the power amp like it they had an effects loop. Main output could go direct to pa speakers/front of house, audio interface or into the fx return input of a valve power amplifier and a connected guitar cabinet maybe?, although having a simulated output sound connected to an actual guitar speaker may sound crappy!!!
Nope, Its an amp head, so its meant to drive an unpowered cabinet. The one they’re showing looks like the single 8” 8 ohm speaker, which the mv50 is actually driving at 25 watts.
this just auto played . nice I haven't seen one of these yet. I have the valvetronix vox. didn't buy the AC 15 as I chose the Marshall over it. this is a nice nice unit .thanks
I have been using micro dark for too long I don't know how to use an amp without both reverb and effects loop. The technology is certainly exciting but I can buy this one yet.
Man looks cool but I can't help think from what I'm hearing it's to thin sounding ? No depth , is it just me hearing it ? I think this has s to of potential other wise .
I bought the clean one of these and can confirm that they dont have the depth of a real valve amplifier. There's a vox like character certainly, but when i got it home I found the treble was a little fizzy and loses definition when you start to push it. It sounds decent when you're hitting big chords or for single note runs, but if you pick individual strings it goes to mush sadly :( I've just ordered a Mooer Little Monster, which is a little 5 watt all valve amp for a similar price - I'm hoping that satisfies my need for tone in small package
arbitermatt have you seen the little battery blackstar fly ? I don't push Air much anymore bought a jet city 22h with a cab but not getting what my ears want to here . Desk top wise I've been struggling to . Have a line 6 pod X3 or something along with digitech rp1000 neither do it for me so I'll try the tech21 flyrig . As a amp though I like the the blackstar club 40 . I will admit that most of us chase the tones of others instead of creating are own lol
On the contrary. I have one and with low-medium output pickups it is clean until REALLY loud. It breaks up a little earlier with high output pups but still lots of headroom. It sounds like a clean tube amp. The cab in the video looks like one of the cabs made for these heads, in which case it is 8ohms. That means that the amp is running at 25w and so will be quieter. With a 4ohm cab it outputs 50w and will be louder - more volume before breakup. Trust me: the MV50 Clean is clean as pretty much anything but a Roland Jazz Chorus.

Great demo. They really meant it when they said clean. Now I have to decide between Clean and AC.
And the Clean breaks up when you turn up the volume.
I'm in the same position...So, what have you decided?
The answer is option C, Get the minibeatle. It’s basically the MV50 AC, but with more features. lol
I'm also in the same situation. LOVE the saturation of the AC, but without reverb or fx loop I wouldn't use it plugged into a cab, I would probably put a reverb after the DI out to record it or play it directly in PA.

The clean tone version looks like it could make for a nice pedal platform.
Great playing mate - this is how a proper testing should be done.
I'd love to see this amp made in a more pedalboard friendly enclosure.
I want these just because of the VU output meter
first thing I thought as well.
Just buy a cheap VU meter and put it in a box! :D
I know ... it's like a toy that Johnny Quest would have had.
great video n amp .. but just one doubt .. Do the NUTUBE in this amp need some minutes to be ready for playing like a REAL TUBE AMP or can I just turn it on and start playing immediatly?? I'll appreciate someone reply me .. t-you =)
I have the clean one. I love it.
If you turn it all the way up in 1/100th mode - how loud does it still get and how does it sound?

does it over heat on full blast? Can't tell how loud it is here though. The VU meter looks like it's spiking high, with everything only on half way.

These are excellent amazing bit of tech
Is the Knaggs included? (Amps sound great!)
Which cab is that going through?

All 3 amps sound good to me! Nice tasty playing.
Hi, would this VOX MV50 work along with a VOX AC10?
Nope, Its an amp head, so its meant to drive an unpowered cabinet. The one they’re showing looks like the single 8” 8 ohm speaker, which the mv50 is actually driving at 25 watts.
I have the rock one. Very nice.
Robin Gravier how clean can the Rock mv50 get?
I'd love to hear someone play a Rickenbacker through one.
Yeah. I've ordered an AC version, and I can't wait to play my black Gretsch Jet through it. We'll see if I sound exactly like George Harrison.
David Beal That id love to hear too!
wich guitar is it at 2:23 please?
quel modèle de guitare es-ce à 2:23mn ?
Knaggs Choptank i suppose
this just auto played . nice I haven't seen one of these yet. I have the valvetronix vox. didn't buy the AC 15 as I chose the Marshall over it. this is a nice nice unit .thanks
Nathan Wade; Doc. Dead Records I
Wow! What's the going price on this?
200
Do they just plug into the speaker cab ?.
YES. Also has a phones/line output to plug it directly to your interface or mixer.
FX Loop, please.
These could be a game changer BUT no effects loop! That's makes all but the clean one useless cause no reverb (or other post drive effects)
I think they will release another, bigger Amp with Nutube Technology. These Mini-Amps are just a test ballon i guess.
Duncan Earley I'm working on a NuTube amp at the moment the plan is to be two channel with an effects loop :)
They take pedals in the front end very nicely.
I have been using micro dark for too long I don't know how to use an amp without both reverb and effects loop.
The technology is certainly exciting but I can buy this one yet.
God forbid you just run that stuff through the front end...
Clean all the way.
SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No poker chip or pickguard. My OCD meter is pegged out!
These are not good enough as the Amplug devices tone-wise
what we hearing...
even zero gain not clean enufff.... tks for 2sec test
the clean is not clean at all
Javi Valdi I agree. Won't work for what I was hoping as a back up amp to use with pedals. I want it clean thru the whole volume range.

nice recording.. but ,,,dunno... not exciting item
Not clean at all !

Distorcina. No me gusta.
