    The trade off makes sense (just talking numbers). Heating in northern climates uses a lot more energy than cooling. Winter you can easily have 70f delta between inside and outside 24 hours a day. In the summer the delta will be more like 20f and the solar heat gain is obviously only during the day. Also because the sun is higher and moving,depending on the position of the windows and shading by the eaves it can be almost a non issue

    Idk if energy star 7.0 is that much more expensive, I got 20 simonton 6200/6500 energy star 7 windows for about 15k installed through home depot

      Well that's more than 2k/window. That's pretty expensive.

    Just get European Tilt & Turn…like a Aluplast Energeto 8000ED with SNX60 low e. Both of those numbers are in those ranges for fair price.

      I like the European tilt in turn products. Unfortunately, in my market they won't make the sizes we need. European windows are typically pretty small compared to what we see in texas. The other issue I have, is getting replacement units when there's damage during shipping, or warranty work. We've been down that road and it wasn't easy.
