For those who don’t know, I don’t like France cuz of their A o Consent laws, French philosophies, movies, art, fashion industry normalizing relationships between children and adults or straight up traffic, safe haven for creeps like Roman, etc. etc. Their government and wealthy people are just… weird… weird… and what makes it super weird is they, the higher ups, think they’re better than every one else cuz they’re public about being WEIRD like no A o Consent weird.
Edit: their southern coast and eastern border is gorgeous though and I love their little Catholic old ladies that just tend to their houses (but that’s an international thing for me) 🌸

It's funny you say that, because in high school we did sort of a very short exchange program in France, and the student I stayed with had a best friend whose dad came over to help with something, and he kept hitting on me, which really weirded me out, even more so because the student I stayed with seemed to think this was perfectly normal and funny behavior. Like 'haha, isn't this 40 year old fun and flirtatious'. There were further incidents on my trip similar to this, just a really weird vibe...granted this was in 2007, don't know if things have changed at all since.

Greece is split into seven different geographic regions (think of it like the states but they don’t completely operate separately, like the laws all apply the same everywhere) and Macedonia is one of them (it’s actually the one I’m living as well!) so Macedonia as a geographic region is right below the country of north Macedonia, but it’s not really a separate thing, if that makes sense.

So with Ireland, the South is the Republic of Ireland and it is an independent nation. Northern Ireland is still part of the UK. The reason for the partition of the Island is that there was a greater proportion of Protestants (who were the over all minority) in the North East of the Island. Before the Irish war of independence the Protestant minority were the ruling class on the Island and for centuries had discriminated against Catholics. They opposed Irish independence for economic reasons but also because they feared being discriminated against if the Catholic majority took power. After the island was partitioned, Northern Ireland became a country within the UK with a protestant majority. They continued to discriminate against and disenfranchise Catholics. This gave rise to a Catholic civil rights movement in the 1960's inspired by Martin Luther King's activism. The government's violent response to the Civil Rights marches and demonstrations, along with attacks on Catholic neighbourhoods by Protestant paramilitary groups lead to a resurgence of the IRA. This in turn kicked off a 40 year period of tit for tat murders and terrorist attacks between Catholic and Protestant paramilitary groups known as the troubles.

Even though most of the country is in Asia, Russia is still part of Europe from the west of the Ural mountains.
For anyone who is curious to know more; it's been said by many historians, researchers, and perhaps geographers that around 700 BC, the 3 continents (Africa, Asia, and Europe) were separated by Greeks and one of the geographical landmarks they use to separate the continents was the Ural Mountains located within the country of Russia. Therefore Russia is both a country of Europe and Asia.
Random fact: most of the Russian land is in the land of Asia while most of its population is in the land of Europe along with the two large and famous cities, Moscow and St. Petersburg

One can argue that the European (or some of them) are too low, yes. But western Europe culture/education around sexuality, nudity and a healthy relationship with one's body is much, much, MUCH better than Americans education. Just look at the teen pregnancy rates.

Indeed, there is a lot of contention about Macedonia! The historical kingdom of Macedon (of Alexander The Great fame) was located roughly in regions now part of northern Greece and North Macedonia. Despite the fact that the Greek city states were conquered by Macedon, modern Greeks proudly lay claim to the legacy of Alexander and his kingdom, while people who do not consider themselves "Greek" and yet live in lands of historical Macedon too have their own connections...hence the issue! The many modern (think the past couple of centuries) contentions in the Balkan region, often arising from powerful European nations imposing state borders in multi-ethnic regions in the period since the end of WWI, are why the term Balkanization came into being.
P.S. The conquering kingdom of Macedon was what became the "empire, not "Greece" itself. The individual city states of Greece had a notion of shared civilization but otherwise were quite separate (until conquered, of course!).

I love these lessons so much. "Who's Roman Polanski? A French citizen." LOL. Wales and Scotland are indeed countries! England, Wales, and Scotland are constituent countries which make up the United Kingdom, along with Northern Ireland. I've never quite been clear on where Northern Ireland stands as far as being a country; it's referred to as a country, province, or region. I mean... like, it's classified as another constituent country of the UK, but then it's sometimes called a "province" and a "region"? idk, can anyone shed some insight on that? I'm an American and my Irish grandparents are dead so I can't call them lol and I'm too tired to attempt to google it further. As to how Northern Ireland separated from Ireland and joined the UK, that's a whole long, bloody, terrible history that you should research, it's too much to condense into a RUclips comment and I've been awake for 24 hours. You'll come to learn why it's VERY important to know Ireland is predominantly Catholic and Northern Ireland is predominantly Protestant! It's a whole yikes of a history!!!!

As someone who is ‘Northern Irish’, (my entire family are born and from here and I have lived all my life here), It really is relative in regards to what people refer to it as (you can imagine as to why). Personally I call myself Irish, Northern Irish or British depending on the context and relevancy, personally I don’t care what people refer to me as. I do consider Northern Ireland apart of Ireland and wouldn’t consider it a country, even technically speaking. I would say it is territory of the United Kingdom in the island of Ireland, therefore still making it an irish region.

The things they share in common is daily moderate exercise (gardening for hours, for example), rich cultural and social lives spending time in person with each other, and diets that are almost completely vegetarian with lots of legumes (beans, chickpeas, lentils, peas, tofu...) and greens and olive oil instead of butter and what not.
