    Awww, bless his heart, Jack Albertson. RIP. I also loved to watch Buddy Ebsen dancing. This kind of talent is long gone, and I miss it.

      I'd forgotten how wonderful Jack was. This was a great treat to watch. I'm sad he didn't get to do The Sunshine Boys film. He would've been wonderful...a mistake I think.

    I was 21 years old when this show was aired....ummmm...45 years ago. Gee....that was a long time ago. I was living at home and moved out into my first apartment down by the beach in San Francisco a few months later. Memories.

      Small world. I was one year younger, just beginning as a Music major at San Francisco State. We might have passed walking on the beach or running around Lake Merced.

      @@writereducator Ok....my favorite place in all of San Francisco....Underneath the Golden Gate Bridge at night at Fort Point, necking with my Cathie. 50 years ago. It seems like last week. Used to boat at Lake Merced. Used to go fishing down at Half Moon Bay when the population was 350. Nice memories.

      Actually, Florence Henderson, Phyllis Newman, Joan Rivers & Della Reese all claim this honor. As there is no surviving copy or tape of that show nobody can say for sure.

    If you want to get rid of the Corona Virus Blues, watch this episode of Johnny Carson. I laughed so hard throughout this entire show. I missed it September 6, 1974, because I was only 13 at the time, even though it aired on a Friday night.

      I missed it too because I was 12 years old. I love watching The Tonight Show with Johnny as the host and Ed as his Sideman. So many great, talented guests included in these old episodes and a lot of laughs!

      I was 13 too lol…turned 14 September 24th that year …every now and then my moms would let me watch a little of it with her …treasure those memories…..he was great …30; years of being on it ….my mother was so sad when it ended …

    They waited too long to get in CNR. I do not know why the Carson show did not practice time management and overbooked. CNR said he appeared 16 times but it is hard to find them all. I think I am up to 8 now.

    Jack Albertson🙏🕯️🌹 was the grandfather in the original Willy Wonka film .💪❤️..and in the original Posiedon Adventure film also - portrayed the husband to Shelly Winters in that film ..❤️. a great actor .🏆.. and what a sweet man he was ... And a joy to behold him in this ..thank you .. broke his heart when Freddie died ... He should have done The Sunshine Boys film .🤪😵😩🤯 someone gave him a raw deal there .😕☹️😠. .I Miss this man . what a spritely dancer too .. how old was he here ?? .. such energy too.😁☺️🙂 at least he is now with Freddie 🌹.🙏🕯️❤️..🙂just resting & waiting 💤💤..🕊️🕊️🕊️. to return back ... and they will .👍👍..     Funny, in the 70s, in horror, and other movies, lots of times, the victims were warching Johnny Carson in the beginning of the scene. Most memorable to me was that 1975ish Big foot movie.

    *What in the heck is that weird thing that is wrapped around the neck of Phyllis Newman at, **40:07**?!? I noticed it as she was inquiring about Johnny's health on behalf of her mother. So, I paused the video and enlarged the image to 500%, it looks like a combination of Kermit the Frog and a ghost, it's even green! What in the world could that thing be?!?* 👀

      @@benkleschinsky It is near her right shoulder at the end part of her hairdo. It is right at the end area of her hair where it kind of curls up and gets a bit bushy. Did you enlarge the picture to 500% and pause it at 40:07?

      I don't know of anyone who has this, though hopefully Antenna could air it, but they would have it edited as they mostly air hour-era episodes from the '80s/early '90s. Interestingly, I have a copy of the game shows Password and Split Second from that same day.

      go to licensing.johnnycarson.com and sign up for an account (free) and you can view a small version of the show, although it has a watermark over the image the sound is fine. Guests that night were Earl Holliman, Della Reese, Euell Gibbons, Marti Rolph, Nanette Fabray, Peter Leeds and Sarah Lindgmann. Hope that helps.

      That's a bit off-topic, but it's good to know that you have a rarity like that! Most noteworthy, a number of Wheel of Fortune and Nighttime Price Is Right episodes from the '70s exist in that format.

    Johnny Carson did NOT like Phyllis Newman in real life. He put on this act for the camera.
    She was one of his least favorite guests ever.

      Phyllis was the very first woman to host The Tonight Show. She appeared as a guest on it more than sixty times. Carson sure had a strange way of showing his dislike for somebody.
