Great memories , reminds of precious days of freedom. My summer of 1978 , I was off from college and doing house painting and cedar siding. Life was great for me then at age 24, no health problems and freedom to travel anywhere my beat up 63 Ford Falcon took me ! Our U.S.A. was still in good health back then. etc.. Thanks for posting this.

Senior citizens were eating dog food, to not starve. Horse meat was being sold in grocery stores, be ause people couldnt afford meat.
It was the worst economy in history other than the great depression. They called it the great recession, to avoid panic.
But glad you choose to remember it as a happy time.

@@code-52 Jimmy Carter was the president. Considered to be the worst in American history. That may be superseded by Biden.

Umm... Nope, USA wasn't in good health at the end of the seventies.

Very true !!! Every study by every university and every major economist places the height of the Middle Class between 1978 and 1979. The evil idiot Reagan destroyed prosperity with his “ voodoo” trickle down economics.

Mr. Carson was considererd "The King" for a reason. In short, he was truly the best at what he did and I greatly miss him.

Oct. 2022 just a couple months from this comment, Johnny will have been gone from the tonight show as long as his show was on the air. Oh how time flies.

Thanx so much, deputay, for sharing!
Love to see a post from you!
So great to see Johnny and the gang again.
Long-time in love with Mac, so it was great to see him. Charles is always Charles, but it was fun to see him not on The Match Game for a change. I remember Bill, but not quite that crazy. That was a trip.
Fun to see the old ads again. The Pringles raft must've been regional, bc we went to the beach a lot, so we would've appreciated a deal like that. Or maybe we just ate too many Lay's and Ruffles.
    Thanx again!
    Keep 'em coming, please?

Love some of the lesser known "Tonight Show" luminaries: Dr. Lenden Smith always was a riot. Could you possibly post more of his appearances? Also, Stan Kann (the Gadget guy), Rip Taylor, and yes, Charles Nelson Reilly--ALWAYS a hoot!
    Thanks for posting--great job!

Bill Kirchenbauer seemed to have scored a ten with the audience and his performance was impressive. It's a shame his career never took off, I hope he is doing well. Johnny was right, there are times when we don't need profundity in our comedy so much as pure silliness. I think even today's snowflake millennials would appreciate his humor. Except maybe for the accents of the garbage truck crew. Such whining wimps as they are.
