    Thank you sooooooooooo very much. I tried understanding this portion of genetics from the notes given with my biology class alone (I couldn't assist to it) and couldn't understand a thing. Now it's all so very clear (and GOD is it helpful to be able to pause the video, go back etc.).

    Can you please fix the mistake at 3:55
    you said that CCA, CCG, CCT, CCC are translated to Glycine and this is wrong since thoe codes are for Proline
    the right code for Glycine are GGT, GGC, GGA, GGG
    thanks in advnace.

    What is the difference between point mutation and missense mutation? because it seems both are affecting a single nucleotide

    Why does Kahn academy medicine have this exact same posted on their channel?? I just watched this on their channel.

    missense is classified into conservative and non conservative depend on the chemical structure of amino acid not silent mutation as he told us and also he said that all change in coden happen in the third position it is wrong silent 3rd nonsense 1st and missense 2nd

    Are A,T,G,C representing neucleotide? or purine/pyrimidine base?

    • @indayhanna
      @indayhanna 8 лет назад

      +dr.humayun Kabir a nucleotide is composed of purine(G,A) and pyrimidine (C,U,T) bases.

    • @flg7412
      @flg7412 8 лет назад +1

      +dr.humayun Kabir when they say A T G C they usually refer to the entire nucleotide including the phosphate and sugar backbone because that's how dna sequence is connected.

    I think this video has a contradiction:
    At 3:07 he says"
    "Missense mutations are any genetic mutation that changes and amino acid from one to another".
    Then at 3:35 he says
    "we can divide the misense mutations even further. Silent mutations are when the mutations doesnt affect the protein at all, since many different RNA codons can code for the same amino acid."
    OKAY then how can a missense mutation also be a silent mutation?

    • @dorianl.210
      @dorianl.210 7 лет назад

      I think he means to say, we can divide the "point mutations" even further? Does anyone else agree?

      A point mutation is an alteration of just one base pair of a gene. Theres two types you can have. Missense and Nonsense. You can change have the substitutions code for a stop and anything other then stop. A missense mutation is a type of point mutation when those substitutions enable the codon to STILL CODE for AN animo acid, even though it might not be a CORRECT amino acid. I think you got confused where he said "many different RNA codons can code for the same amino acid", even though missense mutations "changes an amino acid from one to another." Missense mutations don't have to change an amino acid, but usually they do! This is why you think is contradicting.
      ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      You may not have the SAME EXACT RNA Codons. You can have DIFFERENT RNA Codons that code for the CORRECT amino acid still because usually the third base doesn't affect what amino acid it is, as long as the first two bases in a codon are the same as the new codon. The amino acid isn't changed, but the codon is. Therefore, it will not affect the protein and is considered a (point mutation &) silent(, missense) mutation.
