Thanks for sharing; I think I’ll keep my money here in the US supporting US companies. I have ordered some of my quilting products from Amazon and they come from US stores. They are more expensive, but I feel it is worth the extra for the better quality and to support small businesses.
I've been ordering quilting products (fabrics, tools, ect) from Temu since they began and have had no issues. Also, some of the items are the very same things I've purchased from Amazon and paid more for. Their return policy is easy and I'll likely continue ordering.
I think this is good for people who are on a low budget. You can wash all the fabric and they do come up ok. Have also got fabric from them with no smell. Please remember most of the products you buy from Amazon are made in China. 17:13
I know where many of our quilting/sewing items are made, but I buy from a quality quilt shop so they stay in business and provide me and my fellow quilters with quality, thread, fabrics, etc.
There is more to shopping than just price. How much are people earning? Working conditions? Quality? Carbon footprint? Just something to think about. Thanks for sharing - I love your channel. ❤ Somerset, UK
I bought the same rotary cutter locally some time ago and it was the same as yours, so I took it apart, cleaned out the dust/grit/etc, then smeared the blade and disc with sewing machine oil dropped onto my finger and re-assembled. Bingo...works better than brand name cutters I already owned. Don't forget the locking button as well. Make sure you wipe excess oil with a tissue or scrap of fabric. For what Temu charges I don't think anyone can complain about the quality of items...that's just my 2 cents worth! Also, the polyester fabric squares you purchased, would make pretty bias binding for necklines etc to a plain Tshirt.
I have purchased plenty of good items on Temu. I have not had any problems and have been very happy with all I received. Their jewelry is very strong and good too. Their pots are very great. I do diamond painting and their kits are fabulous and inexpensive. Yarns and fabrics are not do great. Fabric is thin and yarn is not strong. My fabrics did Not have any odor to it. I was told Temu had warehouses in the USA and then they ship to you. I bought other fancy scissors from Temu and they are very sharp.
I'm sorry to leave a negative comment, but I finally had to block their ad, after several attempts trying to stop seeing it. I know sometimes we have no choice getting "made in China", but I can't buy from this company with a clear conscience. That's just me.
@@lindabacon68We make almost nothing in the U.S. anymore, for decades, thanks to NAFTA. It’s impossible to avoid buying things made in China because most US companies have them made over there and then just slap their own label on it. And it’s totally legal, as long as at least half of it is assembled or packaged in the U.S.
I don’t buy “ made in China” products. I know several people who bought from this company and they said it’s all garbage. Cheap, Cheap, Cheap…..again not meaning inexpensive….just garbage. 🤷🏼♀️
The red lines going sideways on the foot are 1/4”, very handy if you want to stop 1/4” before the end. Very nice when you are setting in pieces, like making 8 or 6 point stars and Tumbling Blocks.
I have concerns I havent seen mentioned in other comments: How much do working conditions/wages where these products are made contribute to their low cost? Do we want to support that? What is the impact on our environment of buying items that duplicate what we have? Plastic is a huge global problem. Textile production is one of the world's largest polluters. Yes smells from most products will dissioate in air or can be washed out. But the same is true for fabric you or somebody else have stored fot a while in stash or that you can find second hand, or even in used garments. I appreciate the review. Temu's ads are everywhere. But if sewists want to save money and the earth, I suggest being selective about what you acquire and avoid things which will need to be replaced soon. Maybe even ask around among friends if anyone has unneeded spare tools or fabric they would like to sell you. (Some will even just give you their spares if you ask! Lets stop wasting!
Good points! Same goes for Amazon, Walmart, Target etc. Each of us should be allowed to make our own decisions based on many factors, such as, cost, availability, personal conscience, environmental concerns. Having tried TEMU out, I doubt I’ll buy much, if anything from them again, but I won’t be criticizing anyone who chooses to do so.
For the most part, I have had good luck with sewing supplies from them! I don’t care if it doesn’t have the brand name stamped on it! What we buy here in the states are “made in China” branded by a company! Why pay the extras? Yes, some was junk, but I expected that.
The reason for the red mark closest to the front of the foot the 1/4” foot is to tell you when you are 1/4” away from where you need to turn when sewing a straight seam away from the end of the fabric and the red mark near the needle tells you when to start sewing your curve. A hint to help with this is to mark the start of your pivot point and the starting point of your curves.
i purchased a magnifying glass with a light combo that attaches to the table. It was a great price and works great. I have bought a couple of shirts that were not the best fabric but for the price I will wear them. Thank you for your review as well.
Thank you. I am not ready to TEMU yet. I didn't Amazon until it was around a number of years. I just had someone try and buy airline tickets in Florida on my credit card and I live on the west side of the country. I am a chicken when it comes to new things like that. I like the old days when you went to stores and paid with cash. There was more competition locally and you could find all those great prices. My grandmother and I called some of them junk stores, we loved them.
I have made about 6 temu purchases at about $50.00 each, so far. I have to say, I've only had 2 items i was truly disappointed with, but not enough to send them back. I just ordered sewing thread, zippers and laces, etc. yesterday, and can't wait to see them what they turn out to be! So far, I'm a FAN!
Thing is, most goods from Dollar Store in US, and Poundland in UK come from China. I have noticed a lot of goods from Amazon are made in China. Temu appears...to be simply obtaining direct rather than paying a middle man in UK or US.
Most of the products that you already buy from The Dollar Store and Hobby stores are made in China. The only difference is they put different labels on them which then drives up the price. The same factories are making them. I wish that there were factories in the US making products but very few exist. There used to be factories in NC making beautiful textiles. They no longer exist.
I'M S BUY AMERICAN, I'M 76 & NEVER BROUGHT A FORIEGN CAR, ALWAYS AMERICAN CHEVY,OLDS, FORD.I PICK SOMETHING UP IN STORE SAYS CHINA I PUT BACK, I GO WITHOUT. NO DOG TOYS I MAKE MY OWN,CROCHET, OR SEW
Temu is actually used by Amazon. Amazon jacks the prices WAY up, but a lot of things I’ve found and bought on Amazon came from Temu. I’m sorry you didn’t like the fabric. I’d heard about the odd smell but mine didn’t have it and the quality was very good for the price. All in all, I’ve had very good luck. They “lost” an order of mine and refunded within a few minutes. MINUTES! When most companies make you wait a week or more. So yeah, I highly recommend Temu to most everyone.
Guys, this is a Chinese government owned company. The low prices and zero prices are in return for collecting your information. I never use Tiktok either.
Thankyou, some interesting items that I shall be ordering. Consumers have been buying 'Made in China' products in our highstreet stores for years. Also, many companies have switched their manufacturing to China or import components for assembly and then sell products as made in the home country. Temu is no different from ordering from Amazon who also supply from China, but Temu offer a better service and often better prices. My experience with Temu has been excellent, with only one disappointment and they instantly gave me a full refund without the need to return the item. Local companies promote on-line shopping but the level of service is often not as good as it should be - and likely the goods are imported from China anyway!
I love Temu. I dont buy clothes because they are are all polyester. But as for other things, yes. And I can always get my money back or store credit. Also, you can go back and check previous orders, up to 30 days, and can be refunded any difference if the price goes down.
Thanks for the review. I’m neither American nor Asian. I just spent 10 weeks on vacation in the US. Most tourist items on display were made in China. Nearly all clothing was made outside of the US. On checking the site, Temu seems pretty good. So does Amazon (which also sells LOTS of Chinese goods). I think one simply gets more choice with competitive markets.
I'm a new quilter and have ordered loads of things from Temu. Their stuff is fine for my purposes as I'm still learning the craft -- and I'm on a budget! Mind you, every parcel has at least one disappointment 😢
It depends on what you buy from Temu. I've never had an issue with them. I purchase sewing notions, fat quarters, scissors, pins, wood earring discs, snaps, etc. I don't buy their clothes- don't like polyester.
I have bought several sewing related items as well as other craft supplies. I have not had any issues and most items are way cheaper than other sources. Use the polyester fabric to make some tiny quilts for your children. Just wash the fabrick if you think it smells. If you don't want it take it to a senior center the can use it for their craft days.
Thank you for posting this. Your a Doll so easy to understand. Hey y'all speed up your play back speed to x2! This video is so well done that you can catch everyword easily on x2!
Well, first of all, most things are made in China, no matter where you buy them from, and Temu did not promise it was pristine goods, but I shop regularly from them, I pick what I want before ordering, read their detailed description before buying, I got their embroidery thread, at 60 and 40 wt great, scissors for embroidery great, clothes great, fabric no I do not buy in pieces,,,,, all packages has smells, we get what we pay for if you do not like it return it,,,, fabric is musty in fabric stores also
im in australia, i dont know if its shipped from same place but all my fabric has been great, no smells. i am just careful about gadgets and decorations as its all been hit and miss. i do use their sewing machine needles though
I love Temu, Ive ordered many, many times. Only…maybe twice I’ve had a problem with what I’ve ordered. I’ve used their sewing products, kitchen products (I would stay away from clothing and shoes), but all else is great.
Fabrics stored in warehouses usually have a chemical like formaldehyde to keep fabrics from molding and to repel vermin and insects. You must not have any upper respiratory allergies. I'd never stick my nose in any fabric that I've purchased before I wash it. No matter if it's high-end quilting stores to Goodwill. Just saying. And you'll be surprised when you wash the fabric with non-chlorine bleach and a hot dryer setting to wash out any chemical residue, dyes and the heat will kill any microbe germs and shrink the fabric to a pleasant weave. I'll have to order from TEMU today. My husband thanks you for finding another place for me to shop online lol. :)
Temu doesn't tempt me. Thanks Lessons Learned for a great review of your purchases. I'm a thrift fanatic but I believe that you get what you pay for. Give me great sales on quality items and I'm a happy (on a fixed income) quilter. I also buy many quality items at my local thrift store. NEW is over rated and not always necessary for me.
Thank you for the review, I appreciate seeing someone else’s experience. I bought a slender rolling storage rack from TEMU to store craft magazines and charts and patterns. The plastic is lower quality than I expected. The package was sloppily prepared and damaged, but contents were not effected. I did not realize the product came from over seas. No plans to order from the company again.
Thank you for this video. I wish they were made in the USA. I'd purchase certain items. I have pretty much stopped shopping at WalMart because most of their merchandise comes from China. When I can, I buy USA products. Sometimes, when you can't find something made in the USA, you have no choice and that's sad.
The important thing is to read descriptions well regarding composition and view pictures. I order every week and found some things to be of good quality, some not. Let the stinky fabric air out or put it in a ziplock bag with a dryer sheet, the fabric can be used for pet beds or quilts for the homeless.
If you look carefully, you will find that a lot of the stuff from Amazon. It’s from China already. If it doesn’t say made in America, it’s probably from China or that area.
When you buy those items from Amazon, the are all likely all made in China. So if you use those items you support China. The thing about TEMU is they are paying for getting information on people who buy from them. Information has value and I would question why China is willing to use selling goods as tactics to get our infomration?
To the people who are concerned about "chinese" products, your phone, your tv, and most electrical appliances are all made in china, as well as a lot of fabric
Also, if your order is later than the time frame they give you?? You get an automatic $5 credit. I’ve gotten one a few times. The fabric…use it for crafting instead of quilting. I bought a rotary cutter YEARS ago from a fabric store & it wouldn’t turn…there was an extra blade, not to mention it needed to be loosened & it was fine. I’ve bought a magnetic seam guide, clips to hold fabric, a seam ripper, crochet hooks, little clip type things for help with counting with crocheting…all worked great!! I also bought a tension ring for my finger for crocheting, didn’t work so great, but makes an interesting looking ring for my forefinger!! Only once or twice have I been disappointed in what I’ve received.
Meanwhile, in the US, retailers are going out of business and people are losing their jobs left and right. Nothing against you or your video, just tired of hearing about Temu.
I have a pack of four water soluble pens from Temu that I bought over a year ago, and I’m still using the first one I took out of the pack! And it’s still juicy! I also bought eight different feet for my Juki and they all work great! Total was about twenty four bucks for all eight.
The other red lines on the presser foot mark another distance of a quarter inch. So if you need to stop for some reason (for ex. Sewing mitered borders) a quarter inch before the end, those lines show you where to stop. Or where to stop before you need to pivit. ☺️🇭🇲
I LOVE Temu! I have bought sewing needles, a dozen quilting rulers, cotton grosgrain ribbon, and rotary blades. They also refund $5 if they don’t deliver on time.
Very interesting thank you for doing this. I too have ordered just under £20 worth of goods from Temu. Waiting for them to arrive and looking forward to comparing and seeing what sort of quality they are.
I removed the TEMU app because some items I ordered were replaced by substitutions of much lesser value. It's just not for me. Your review was great! Thank you!
Hi there ❤ I have also used this company and have had so far no problems with them But early days 😊 😊 😊 Amazing video thank you so much for sharing with us xx ❤
Take the musty smell out with a soak in baking soda and water before washing. Temu is more fun when you go in with low expectations and remember to read the full item description. I blow about $20 a month just buying things to see what they are.
The red lines are to help with horizontal and vertical measurements. Like if sewing a pillow and you want exact quarter inch or half inch or 1 inch start vertically you can get matching seam horizontally. It helps especially with dollhouse sewing or quilting to help get exact seams from corner measurements. Least that's what I do with them. My daughter bought me a bunch of plastic feet sets like those from temu and amazon as a gift. Most actually worked for what I needed especially sewing doll items for my granddaughters.
Ive been debating starting with temu to try some household stuff I need to get. Thankful for an honest review.... I think some things are probably better than others, and overall the try not to buy stuff is good.
I think the smell is in people’s heads! I think somebody started the rumor about stuff smelling funny and it just exploded so everybody said oh my stuff smell funny too. Because I got stuff from Temu for a long time and nothing ever smelt funny ever!
I haven't bought much sewing stuff but it's be fine. I tried some of their frisbees for my power chewer puppy...the silicone ones are awesome! Still intact so i just ordered more!😅
Made in China? Yes. So is 90% of what I buy at Walmart or from Amazon. Once Jeff Bezos built his rockets for the fun of it and his zillion dollar yacht, I was fine buying from Temu at one quarter the cost. Money IS staying in America... the money I save by buying direct from China and not putting my money in Jeff Bezos pocket. Why should I send him $15 for the exact same product I buy on Temu for $3? And the $12 difference stays right here when I buy groceries or out to eat. Of course I'd prefer to buy USA products, but they're getting hard to find!
Thank you for this informative video! I too have to agree with other comments. I have a hard time justifying spending money in China when I think of the human rights issues that are happening all the time there. I bought children's clothing and shoes from Temu and been very satisfied with the merchandise. I've even had to exchange the shoes a couple of times and they've done it without any problem.
Thanks for sharing; I think I’ll keep my money here in the US supporting US companies. I have ordered some of my quilting products from Amazon and they come from US stores.
They are more expensive, but I feel it is worth the extra for the better quality and to support small businesses.
Agreed!

I’ve noticed that too

Totally agree!
I bought the same rotary cutter locally some time ago and it was the same as yours, so I took it apart, cleaned out the dust/grit/etc, then smeared the blade and disc with sewing machine oil dropped onto my finger and re-assembled.
I bought some beautiful Japanese fabric on Temu - it's gorgeous.
I'm sorry to leave a negative comment, but I finally had to block their ad, after several attempts trying to stop seeing it. I know sometimes we have no choice getting "made in China", but I can't buy from this company with a clear conscience. That's just me.
I don’t blame you
I made a decision several years ago to stop buying from China but have gotten lax. Thanks for getting me back on track.

But if sewists want to save money and the earth, I suggest being selective about what you acquire and avoid things which will need to be replaced soon. Not all there products are bad and if they are they are good at refunding your money back!
The red lines on the quarter inch foot show you where 1/4" from your needle is front and back, for turning corners.
I love Temu. I have placed 5 orders. You can get some things for 8 cents
When you buy those items from Amazon, the are all likely all made in China. So if you use those items you support China. The thing about TEMU is they are paying for getting information on people who buy from them. Information has value and I would question why China is willing to use selling goods as tactics to get our infomration?
I understand your concern. Anyone, anywhere in the world has access to our information, if they really want or “need” it.
I got the exact same rotary cutter. It works amazing. I have ordered many things from TEMU not been unhappy yet! I think it fun!
Wonderful!
The bobbin keeper I use around my spools of thread. I have the round bobbin keeper trays for my bobbins. And it's amazing!
On the roatery cutter losen the screw then it will roll the tighting it when made
I forgot. You can return anything before 90 days with no argument and no return postage.
So happy you’ve had a positive experience
Not as advertised. What ever happened to "shop local?" Hurts our economy worse than it is now.
You can see through all those cotton fabrics, very loosely woven.
Meanwhile, in the US, retailers are going out of business and people are losing their jobs left and right. Nothing against you or your video, just tired of hearing about Temu.
Understood. Just raising awareness here
I have a pack of four water soluble pens from Temu that I bought over a year ago, and I’m still using the first one I took out of the pack!
Ah! Great info!
Quality over quantity is my way to do things. 4:22
As far as the rotary cutter, try loosening the bolt a tiny bit, maybe some one just tightened it too much..
i love your doggie i had to put mine down i loved him.. thanks for this video happy mothers day
I LOVE Temu! I have bought sewing needles, a dozen quilting rulers, cotton grosgrain ribbon, and rotary blades. They also refund $5 if they don’t deliver on time.
Wonderful!
Just happened on your channel and so glad I did. I’ve been wondering about Temu. Thanks for the insight.
Welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Amazon also sells stuff from China, so they are all the same, just that Temu may be alittle less pricey
Great 👍
Take the musty smell out with a soak in baking soda and water before washing. Temu is more fun when you go in with low expectations and remember to read the full item description. I blow about $20 a month just buying things to see what they are.
I try not to make China richer.
I have to try and stay with items made in USA.. not easy as one may think but we are trying.
Still intact so i just ordered more!😅
I worry that places that sell so cheaply are exploiting poor people by using slave labor.
All rotary cutters need the screw to be loosend to make it roll...
I do not buy anything made in China...no matter how good the price seems.
Great report, thank you. Thinking environmentally, I dislike all the energy (gasoline, etc) spent in traveling from China.
I understand. I’m not crazy about that myself.
My understanding is that TEMU is a Chinese company which I am not interested in buying from
I’m always careful that what I buy is not from China
You can return all the items you don’t like and get your money back.
I doubt it
Why don’t you try to wash to rid off the smell?
Thank you for this informative video! I too have to agree with other comments. I have a hard time justifying spending money in China when I think of the human rights issues that are happening all the time there.
I bought children's clothing and shoes from Temu and been very satisfied with the merchandise. I've even had to exchange the shoes a couple of times and they've done it without any problem.
