    Thank you for your coverage on Schweitzer. Wife and I are planning to go there last week of March. Worried a bit about not enough snow but we are both beginners and plan to take it slow and enjoy.
    Hoping to get the full experience. Thanks once again for a glimpse into what we will get.

    Great video - I’m heading there with my family in February. We are staying in an Airbnb in Ponderay and am wondering if it’s best to take the bus up from the red barn or drive up each day. We are renting an suv in Spokane.

    • @bluebirdski
      @bluebirdski  11 месяцев назад

      Most people enjoy taking the bus. I like the freedom of having my car. They've improved the mountain parking lot this year... The prime parking can be pricey, but there's enough free parking.
      Get a frozen full size pot pie at Pie Hut. I didn't have a good pic of one in the video, but they're pretty awesome.
      Let me know if you have any other questions. Have fun!

    Schweitzer was one of the first resorts to allow snowboarding in the 1980s. I went there in 1984 with my wooden Burton Performer which had 3 metal fins mounted in the bottom for a kind of rudimentary steering control on groomers. I caught a lot of good-natured ribbing from the locals. Good times and good people. I’ve not aged well at all since then with a receding hairline and cirkey lower back, but Mt Schweitzer looks better than ever and a 1984 Burton Performer sells on eBay for somewhere around $3k!

    If im only doing groomed greens at a resort like Copper Mountain, Brighton, Deer Valley & Mt Bachelor. Is Schweitzer too steep.? Plus im a bit overweight. Dieting hard now. 🙏🏽😂. Thanks for the review.

    • @bluebirdski
      @bluebirdski  2 месяца назад

      If you can make it to Vagabond on the back side of Schweitzer you'll love it. There's also a new quad for easy access for beginner runs. Colorado resorts are generally steeper and you'll find most intermediate runs at Schweitzer easier. You'll have fun at Schweitzer, but Colorado is hard to beat. I used keto and now do more of a Paleo diet. That helped me lose about 30 pounds. Look up Dr. Stan Ekberg. Here's a link to Schweitzer:

    Im a nurse considering a job in Spokane. Im a solid moderate with some conservative views and am looking for a better dating population/ much less liberal then my home of San Francisco! But I have tied at Sqauw Valley 35-70 days a season x 20 years so I LOVE to ski!...I like difficult lines around rocks, trees gullies and steep! Do you think Schweitzer would be a good mountain for me? and Spokan a good place to call home?

    • @bluebirdski
      @bluebirdski  8 месяцев назад

      Spokane is a lovely jumping off point, but is becoming more liberal. I'd suggest finding your way to Idaho. I'm close with someone who moved to Post Falls and likes the change. She sounds similar to you.

    • @bluebirdski
      @bluebirdski  8 месяцев назад

      Schweitzer is terrific for an inland NW resort, but has a low elevation. I just got back from a trip to Colorado and Utah, and it doesn't really compare well. I've never skied Squaw. By the way, you'd love Coeur D'alane, but it is getting pricey.

  • @carlosdorantes3105
    @carlosdorantes3105 8 месяцев назад

    So basically don't go unless you're a very good skier?

    • @bluebirdski
      @bluebirdski  8 месяцев назад

      They added a new high speed lift for a run to learn on and have ski instructors. It is a better resort for intermediate skiers and their black diamond runs would be intermediate on many mountains. There are worse mountains to learn on, but it isn't ideal for the beginner.
