I figured Skulk's backstory would've been that Bruce Banner was first killed by the gamma radiation, but then came back as a zombie with incredible strength that surpasses Solomon Grundy's. I could guess why you're not too big on this, I haven't read the Amalgam comics, but usually the amalgam characters get something from each other. There's not much for Hulk to get from Solomon Grundy, where Wolverine and Batman have individual strengths to gain for their amalgam hero.
